  1. I’m all for innovation! Keep up the work I believe this project is just for someone that wants something cheap and may already have on hand. My project they were referring to (picoPromSD) is more convenience than affordability. I did it so you can do one or many eeprom backups with needing to be tethered to PC. I actually started out in the same manner as this. Wanting to use a pico great job. I’ll stick with my project obviously lol… but I think many will like this If you find you need help… let me know. I went on to decrypt the eeprom, calculate HDD password based on eeprom HDD key… as well as grab password from seagates directly

  2. Honestly if you’re running for a few hours and still in the 45-55C range you’re probably fine. The 1.0 has the case fan and a fan on the gpu and tends to run cooler than the aforementioned. Should you want to replace the thermal though just be sure to do a few things. -as fox and thairanny mention be sure to heat up the cpu/gpu by either letting it run for ten or so mins or using a heat gun. The cpu heat sink will probably fall off on its own after the clip is removed. The gpu heat sink almost always sticks hence the needed heat. Do not try and pry them off or force them off. You can irreparably damage your system doing this. If there’s still resistance it needs to be heated up a bit more. You should easily be able to slightly twist them loose. I use a heat gun and it usually takes less than ten secs on a low temp before it comes loose. -also mentioned was to take care when removing the clips. They’re old and can be brittle. The best way is to use your finger or thumb to press in on the smaller side of the clip and gently work the main (larger) side of the clip loose with your other hand. This is the nice way and tends to have less of a chance to break than using a flathead on the clip ends. Just keep in mind that sometimes they can still break due to age and material. Go slow and don’t force it. -get a good quality thermal paste and be sure you’re applying the correct amount. -as for cleaning off the old I personally like the ArtiClean 1 + 2 package but there are other ways. That’s just my preference.

  3. This thread contains all the custom _resource packs I have created for XBMC4Gamers. Each pack contains the various art needed for XBMC4Gamers, 3D covers etc along with a defailt.xml for the synopsis views. Most include screenshots too. Some also have preview videos. Actual title ids have been used where available, while others have been made up on the spot Download all the packs here - XBMC4Gamers Custom Artwork Update 29/04 Added XCAT artwork pack. 5. The aladdin will do the job, just be wary that you probably wont be able to reflash the aladdin with another bios.

  6. In either case and I'd guess the Xbox front panel LED, anything that is flashing green/blue means it is customised in some way and it could mean anything. What we need to know is whether the chip is booting and what is happening on screen if anything. Wild guess is that the LED is actually flashing green and red (general hardware problem) and either the OP is partially colour-blind or the originally red LED has been replaced with a blue one.

  7. This video is a quick way to dump your original Xbox eeprom directly from the motherboard with just a Raspberry Pi Pico. The code is written by myself in micropython and posted on Github. All you need is a soldering station and 24-30 gauge wire ( or a scrap usb cable you can cut up). This video is handy if you're trying to revive an old Xbox or unlock its HDD. The dump only takes a few seconds, and requires only 3 wires to be soldered from the Pico to the Xbox. 8. Nice work! I’m partial to DX4M’s Xbox EEPROM Utility running on an esp8266 or esp32 dev board, which features a web UI that can be used to see and modify your EEPROM’s contents “live” and save a backup, but the Pico is so popular that it’s great to have a utility focused around it.

  9. Holy shit thats been there a LONG time!! You should be good to just carefully desolder the wires and remove it. Use a temp controlled iron and plenty of flux and you should be able to get it off without issues. A hot air gun will be perfect for softening the glue so you can gently prise it away from the motherboard. Before you do remove it get a backup of the EEPROM/HDD key using Config Magic or Evolution X dashboard. This will be handy to have. The drive is likely locked so the console boots when the chip is disabled. You can use FatXplorer on a PC to unlock/lock/manage the HDD using the eeprom backup. After that you could just TSOP flash it instead of installing a chip but a chip is also an option. Personally I would only softmod it as a means to booting a disc with TSOP flash abilities. Once the TSOP is flashed, uninstall the softmod. Rocky5's softmod is the best to use as it has a nice installer and offers an uninstaller too.

  10. Freefall 3050AD is available in the XBMC4Gamers artwork installer. It is under Other. Lamborghini is available in my artwork thread The others I will look into creating if I can find some source artwork to build from. I'm no artist so wont be creating from scratch EDIT - Rebellious Bullet looks to have zero art available anywhere!! As it was a totally unknown game this is not surprising. I will see what I can put together tho.

  11. Basically it's when you are showing temperatures in software that are much hotter than what you feel when you put your hand on your heatsink. It is no longer efficiently transferring heat from surface to surface. IR thermometer would be useful in this. @Gunky

  12. I believe @Bowlsnapper is referring to @Dtomcat18 PicoProm which is far more simple to use for reading and writing the eeprom image. It uses the lpc port either via a pogo pin adapter or via a header soldered in to the lpc. The eeprom is stored on sd card when read and you can also write a bin file from the sd card to the eeprom. Very fast and plug and play. I think that’s what he was referring to but correct me if I’m wrong, Bowl.

  13. I think they automatically shut off like any PC if either processor reaches critical temperature (80c iirc), so your box is probably not in danger of a meltdown if you've ran it and auto-shutoff hasn't happened. But if you're worried just buy a high quality paste from a reputable seller and change the stuff, it's not gonna make your box run worse, and who gives a crap what other people say? Let the thing run for a good while though to get the factory paste warm so you don't risk tearing a processor off the board.

  14. Pretty sure the PICOPROM will be easier to use. This looks like the nand flasher for the 360 that you actually have to solder to.

  15. No. It won’t do anything permanent but it’ll give you an Error 6 when you try and boot if they don’t match. Other than that you should be fine though.

  16. You can also convert Ryzee119's ArduinoProm to a uf2 file that can be flash it to a pico and dump it that way as well. Nice to see more options though for those that don't want to install Arduino IDE and convert the file.

  19. The synopsis is now installed via the artwork installer script within Rocky5s xbmc4gamers and xbmc-emustation. It will also work in origins. I just updated the github link with the most recent version of everything with all excel spreadsheets, xml files that get exported from excel and Rocky5s custom made tools to rip the xml into individual synopsis files. The PDF instructions are old but still mostly correct, made a few amendments to the readme on github. Updated this for the future, just in case anyone googles it and finds it and uses the old version 1 of the synopsis. This is version 3 (at least). It has been updated with player numbers, system link information, custom soundtracks, metacritic ratings among other things. I also included one combined Excel spreadsheet that is hands down the most complete source of information available. It is easily filtered and sorted to find good/bad games, which games are system link etc. This is very accurate and complete as I looked at the back of the game covers for most of this information. Included is also some Homebrew synopsis and Emulator synopsis text (Thanks to James Reed for working together on these). If anyone wants to translate the synopsis please preferably use the excel spreadsheets for each region and only change the details, don't change the folder names. If anyone takes on a translation project it can then be added when complete. I am sure Rocky5 would incorporate it too. Be aware, something like that will take months to do. https://github.com/jazzycian/XBMC4Gamers-Synopsis-Information/blob/master/README.md
