BigMacDaddy
Hi all - hoping somebody might have either a scan of the manual for the Competition Pro Wireless wheel accessory, or else knowledge of how the button programming function works on it so that you can get the pedals to work with the driving games that don't allow you to map correctly within the game itself (NFS Underground 2 can do this by changing the control scheme in-game for example, but Outrun 2006 doesn't have this ability)? Have been hunting high and low for ages and so far haven't turned up anything :( It's this one for reference: Thanks in advance! BigMacDaddy
Hi - will check when I get home later, thanks!
BigMacDaddy
Sorry for the delay - I might be being thick but I'm not sure it has an FCC ID on it? I've got a code stuck inside the box which is 0404052C, or a serial on the device itself which is 04.
KaosEngineer
If it was never registered for sell in the U.S., it may not have one. Can you post photos of the back side of the controller and the wireless dongle?
BigMacDaddy
Yes sure:
KaosEngineer
Ok, doesn't look like the manufacturer ever registered it with the FCC to be sold in the States. I know that I find a lot of manuals with the FCC registration submission data for products. The FCC requires the manufacturer to send several pieces of documentation for the product to register it. One such item is a copy of the user manual.
KaosEngineer
I found an archived copy of Competition Pro's webpage for the Pro Racer controller. The description of the controller is there but the picture of the product is missing: http://web.archive.org/web/20040628062116/http://www.competitionpro.com:80/products/xbox/p/xbox_proracer.htm XBOX PRO Racer - Steering Wheel + Foot Pedals A fully analogue, ergonomically styled steering wheel with a life like speedometer and rev counter + light effects that add to the realism when playing simulation driving games: Ergonomically designed wheel rotates through 190 degrees. Realistic hand paddles provide enhanced gameplay Pressure sensitive accelerator and brake pedal unit. 8-way D-pad + 10 programable action buttons. Powerful vibration feedback motor. Edit: The Support page to download manuals has was found but has invalid URLs ( e.g., http://file:///C|/Documents and Settings/davidtetlow.powerplayuk/Desktop/desktop_july_03/webcopro/pdfs/gc/xracer_gc.pdf ) so the manuals were not archived. In addition, none of the Xbox products were listed there anyway.
KaosEngineer
After a bit more snooping around at web.archive.org I happened upon a few other dead ends and one PDF for Xbox items but it's simply a catalog of all the Xbox products they were selling, not a specific manual for each item was found. http://web.archive.org/web/20061212185732/http://www.power-play.co.uk:80/productfiles/xbox.pdf At some time, they changed their name from Competition Pro, or sold under several different company names, to Power Play Global and I've also seen Power-Play Group. KaosEngineer
Also found a PSOne X Racer manual: http://web.archive.org/web/20030309235432/http://www.power-play.co.uk:80/pdfs/psone/psone_x_racer.pdf They had a PS2 version of the Pro Racer controller but haven't found a manual for it. (Yet!).
BigMacDaddy
Wow that's some top-level sleuthing - thanks for your efforts, really appreciated! It does mention that they were distributed in the UK by Power-Play on the base of the packaging, but when I looked it seems that they are long-gone now I'm starting to think the only way to find this will be to find another one for sale with the manual included and buy it just for that
corona2222
Your photo matches this ebay listing https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/373595564906?hash=item56fc07eb6a assuming you are not the seller?...you could see if the seller 1. has the manual and 2. willing to scan it (possibly a token fee for incentive) Edited May 28, 2021 by corona2222
