MightyPoo
Hi people, I recently soft modded my 1.4 Xbox following Mr. Mario's Rocky5 guide. I've since set XBMC4Gamers as the default dashboard. When I first power up the console on I just get a blank screen, to get the XBMC dash to load correctly I need to open and close the disk tray. Any ideas for how I could fix this? SS_Dave
I have seen that when the BIOS is wrong. Is the led changing color when it boots? Cheers SS Dave Soft modding is like masturbating, It gets the job done but it's nothing like the real thing.
MightyPoo
The LED is a solid colour. The green flubber animation plays and then it goes to a blank screen.
SS_Dave
Are you sure the Xbox was not hard modded (TSOP flash, Modchip) before you softmodded it? MightyPoo
Yep, it's one of my original consoles that was un-modded and sitting in storage for 11+ years.
SS_Dave
Have you tried to set a new dash with the hexen 2020 disk? Cheers SS Dave Soft modding is like masturbating, It gets the job done but it's nothing like the real thing.
MightyPoo
Thanks for the help SS_Dave, I just went through the XBMC4Gamers install from the HeXEn 2020 disc and it still does the same thing. I've attached the C: and E: drives

MightyPoo
I managed to get some assistance from Rocky5, posting the solution here in case it can help someone in future. Installing the correct Kernel font seemed to fix the issue. This is automated through NKPatcher. NKPatcher > Kernel Fonts > Advanced Features > Kernel Font Options > Install Kernel Font The other suggestion was to try using the 'delay files': NKPatcher settings > Kernel > Advanced Features Only go up to 3, as higher can softlock your Xbox, not all Xbox do, but stick to a max of three. (Start at 1 reboot, 2 reboot eg...)
