ConsoleTechUS
I have a pair of soft modded xboxs I was getting ready for an event. I FTP'd some files over and they glitched out so when I went to test a game the xbox froze for an hour and when restarted I got error 7. All connections are strong so I assume I killed the drive somehow. I have no idea the eeprom or keys or anything like that. I then remembered I had an Aladdin X2 chip laying around. Can I save this xbox by simply installing the Aladdin chip?

ConsoleTechUS
I was going to install the mod chip just to get a quick fix but I got comfortable with FatXplorer and just created a new drive and copied the C and E drives from my mod chip xbox drive to give it a non-soft mod dash/loadin and it worked just fine. No locking or eeproms required and im back up and running on two xboxs I thought I killed or massively complicated

The closest I have got to soft modding is to launch a BIOS flash program from a game save Way Back when I used to get a heap of Xbox's here to mod because of a failed soft mod, Plus I used to get people asking me to just soft mod and not hard mod so their parents didn't know the Xbox was modded. After I showed them my Xbox booting with a BIOS re-flash and booting to the stock dash but able to load a backup copy of a game I got the job of hard modding. The 1st BIOS re-flash I did was done using a game save to launch Linux so you could flash via telnet from a PC.
