Ging3rguy
It's a good idea to open it to make sure the clock capacitor has been removed, unless you have a 1.6 which doesn't have one. They leak and can mess up the board.

Ging3rguy
Just remove it, if you're hooked up to the internet it will show the correct time. You can replace it but there is no need.
KaosEngineer
Boot the console. In the MS Dashboard, go to Settings -> System Info to start the copyright scroller. Wait till the end and copy down the K and D values shown. Also. what are the last 5 digits of the serial number? and production date? Tardy79
Production date 2005-01-24 serial last 5 are 50505 So I am thinking a 1.6b. This does make sense as my first 2 Xbobx's were stolen and I remember buying a new one, getting the mod chip installed and then shelving it. So my box is pretty much unused. Ging3rguy
The chip is a clone of the original Aladdin. Yours is the 4032 chip so you cannot do anything fancy like a lcd, but it does the job.
