although I'm not sure how modz gets his chips or if he builds them himself but maybe it needs to do with how these aladdin chips are just mass produced and inexpensively made?

to be fair, I have not tried booting tsop via xblastos after manually disconnecting d0 with the switch. I will try that when I get home. the only thing I've tested is if I shutdown the console. turn the switch off and press the power button to boot. I can confirm that this boots retail.

But I wonder, why will the TSOP not boot if D0 is shut off with the switch after booting to XblastOS?

And WHY do we have no L1!? lol @SS_Dave @lopenator

The Xblast chip needs to send a reset command to the Xbox and because you have told the Xbox to not read the LPC by turning of the D0 the Xblast can't send a reset.

With the D0 connected to the mod chip as you tell Xblast to load from the original bios chip it sends a reset and then turns of the D0.

L1 was on some of the early Aladdin chips and it was to turn on the red LED when the chip was active( So you knew the chip was on and did not get banned from XBL), So basically a 2nd D0 output.

On some chips L1 was also to indicate you had turned off write protection.

Soft modding is like masturbating, It gets the job done but it's nothing like the real thing.
