About Me

  1. XBOX original dvd drive(sdg-605f) not working. Problem is with dvd drive capacitors. I dont know how to connect them. Please help me in understanding the capacitors connection. And 1 more thing is tht can I use other capacitos whose values are slightly c?
  2. I'm not sure what it's actually called (jewel?) but the LEDs that light up the ring around the eject button on my Xbox v1.0 doesn't work. I took the Xbox apart and tested the LEDs with my multimeter set on diode mode and the LEDs do light up (for those that might not know diode mode on a digital multi meter will usually provide enough power to light a LED). I then did a continuity test between the 3 legs on each of the LEDs to the connector pins on the back of the board and found not problems. I then powered up the board to test for voltage going to either of the LEDs and there is none., My guess is that corrosion damage from a bad clock capacitor (now removed) has caused an issue with the power traces going to the LEDs.. Is there a guide anywhere on fixing the trace(s) that provide power to the LEDs? or would it be easier to pick up power from somewhere else like from the leg of a voltage regulator or somewhere else? thanks
  3. I’m working on a cap list for each revision set that people could refer to in the forum. Here’s what I have so far. Wanted your opinions. Is this needed? Should I add links to caps on mouser and digikey or just list preferred brands and let people find their own via the info provided? Any mistakes or omissions? Compiled info from a few different sources. I haven’t double checked against a 1.0 board yet so that’s always possible. Rough draft. One thought I had was specifying Radial on the others since I specified SMD where applicable. Just so it was clear to those who might not know when looking for info. I also didn’t include the clock cap. Should I? Obviously for the 1.6/b but should I for the lower versions. Anyway, let me hear your thoughts or critiques. 4. Good night, I need help about the original Xbox Cromwell, my card is 1.6 and every time I start the Xromwell the screen is full of lines and the control stops working, I've tried changing the resolution to 480i and it still crashes I still don't know what it is. Could this be a BIOS issue?
  5. So I have a OEM component cable and a 3rd party. They both work but give me one same issue. The right audio channel wont work, so its just my left speaker. Its not my TV bc my PS2 and Wii component works flawlessly. I cleaned the av port with q tip and isopropyl 91. If I use my Chimeric HDMI adapter both speakers work but I think its still playing through the left audio channel only. Im tryna use component so I can avoid buying another hdmi splitter. My xbox is a 1.2 128mb ram openxenium running IND bios recapped not by me.
  6. AA on sub 1080p content only serves to degrade the visuals, IMO. Both the N64 and Wii have homebrew to disable various blur effects to great effect. Are there grumblings of anything similar for Xbox?
  7. My 1.6 Halo edition that I put my Aladdin in is stable at 827MHZ. And shows it in XBMC and wherever else. My X3 console will work too, and I believe it's a 1.4. All my other consoles will not ackknowledge the overclock. They just ignore it and stay at 733. This is extremely annoying. I would like to overclock any console I want, but it's not behaving consistently, which is a problem I have not heard of. Does anybody know why XBOverclock would work for some consoles and not others? Edit: Let me be ridiculously specific since, again, it seems some people have a hard time understanding my English: Does anybody know why some consoles would continue to operate at stock speeds and ignore the overclock and why some will accept it and the overclock will actually take?
  8. I bought a refurbished deck with a laser already assembled from ebay and also recapped the logic board 'correctly' with a cap kit from console5. I also replaced the dvd drive belt. I swapped out the deck assembly for the new one. I connected all of the ribbon cables and soldered the red and blue wires back. So dvd drive ejects very nicely and the cd that tested didn't get scratched or didn't stay stuck. The dvd drive emits a loud vibrating noise and I get the pop-up that says that the disc that I inserted is not an Xbox disc. Its a cd music disc that I inserted to test the dvd drive. What I suspect that I did wrong is that I applied too much lithium grease to the rails because the laser doesn't stay put in a single place anymore but it moves back and forth when I tilt the dvd drive. I also didn't pay attention to the laser position before I disassembled the dvd drive. I also don't know the correct level of the disc tray. The disc tray elevates up and down while the laser is reading a game. Its my first time repairing an Xbox dvd drive and I'm out of troubleshooting ideas. Edit: I just remembered that usually refurbished lasers have two pads bridged to protect the laser from being damaged by static. Well the two points were not bridged and there was a lot of burned flux residue too.
  9. I just had tsop'ed my xbox and Clean the C from Softmod after Tsop, so i want to install Unleashx, when i installed and open it the screen goes black, but others dash evox, avadash etc works fine?? My xbox is tsop'ed but i still have softmod savegames and unleashx savegame is they who broken unleashx?
  10. This is my second mod and I cannot for the life of me understand why the mod isn't working. Perhaps another modder would be able to help me out? The Xbox already had a softmod and boots up in UnleashX After the mod, the boot animation is showing the EvoX logo. Updating the bios is no problem, installed updated EvoX M8 plus bios Trying to boot from a Hexen, OG xbox install disc or Slayer's disc is not working. OG xbox installer DOES work in the softmod Trying another hdd gives an error 13 (160gb and 250gb ide, and sata 500gb drive with green adapter) I tought the problem could be a problem with a solder joint or a short as a result of my soldering error. Went over them with multimeter, does not seem to be the case. I'm at a loss right now trying to figure out what the problem is..
  11. Hi everyone! After much hesitation I decided to replace the capacitors in my Xbox 1.6 ... well it didn't go as expected. The 3300uf caps were a pain to desolder for an unknown reason and I lifted 4 pads in total (the positive of C1F2, both pads of C1G10 and the positive of C6G3). So, initially I didn't know that I made such a disaster and the console FRAGged with alterating green/red light after attempting to booth two times with green light and also no video. Troubleshooting I noticed that the dvd drive didn't want to open unless I unplugged it from the IDE cable and that no error was showing even with only the motherboard and psu connected. As adviced by some kind guy on Reddit I checked the joints of the 3300uf caps and I discovered what I did with the pads. The same guy said that in order to repair the traces I had to connect the positives of C1F2 and C1G10 toghether an then to one of the legs of the coil above (L2F1); the negative of C1G10 to ground an finally the positive of C6G3 to the positive of the cap next to it (C6G2). Done all that the Xbox doesn't boot anymore. When pushing the power button there is a soft buzzing noise. So I decided to check the voltage of the 220-240V Delta PSU. I found that the voltage doubled: orange is 10.3V, red 10.3V and yellow 0.5 in stand by and 24.8V when pressing the on button. I also tested the transistor next the clock cap and it says 6.3 V. What can I do? Please help me, I don't want to lose my cherished xbox. Thank you in advance!
  12. Opened up the Xbox to fix some trace corrosion. When I put everything back in and booted up, none of my controllers were working. Iv double checked the daughter board several times. Everything is plugged in correctly. On boot up it launches the clock and none of my controllers work in any of the slots. I found out I was atleast getting power through the controller port because when I plugged in my Wingman XB2 it lights up. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
  13. Hope its OK to ask this here Ive been trying to upgrade a couple of Xboxes now, for the last month and a half Its been one problem after another. Anyway, Im at the point where everything Is working, but I still have a problem For some strange reason, I Initially was only able to copy around 300GB of files to F or G drive So did some Investigation, and found some Information...found a recommended BIos...patched it using Evtool to LBA48 v3.0 Flashed the Bios and thought everything was solved. It was showing as LBA48 v3.0 In XBPartitioner But now, It will only allow me to copy 500Gbs of data before file transfer errors. So...can someone PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE, upload the BIOS files I require, both for v1.0 to v1.5, and v1.6 Xboxes, already patched as necessary, and tested working to allow the full 2Tb hard drive usage. Just standard modchips... Duox2 and Aladdin...nothing special...on standard Xboxes I would really appreciate this help, because basically I dont know what Ive done wrong, or what else to do Thankyou
  14. Looking to buy a working disc drive ASAP. I'm from Canada, ON if that makes a difference.
  15. I'm trying to replace the stock HDD for a 1TB HDD on my v1.6 xbox but get code 13 after BIOS boots. Configuration: OpenXenium modchip with XeniumOS231, Cerbios 2.1.0Beta Star adapter for IDE->Sata New sata 1TB HDD is on the compatibility list, reported to work/lockable: https://xboxdrives.x-pec.com/?p=drive&did=5971 General Processs: I use the XeniumOS disk tools menu to clone the stock HDD to the new HDD following the guidance. Swaped the Star Adapter jumper to slave for the clone and back to master after stock HDD on HD end of IDE cable and new HDD at DVD end After clone I put the DVD Drive back on IDE cable, and new HDD at HD end. Check all the files on new HDD are duplicated correct (pulled the contents of new and stock HDDs to PC via FTP and filediff the lot) I put cerbios.ini on the new HDD C:\ (also tried without) I lock the new HDD via XeniumOS disk tools menu Tried boot standard cerbios and UDMA5 cerbios Retail bios also errors 13 (which worked fine with stock HD) Result: front LED 75% red, 25% green - HD error. Display shows error 13 (pictured) Observations: Confirmed Xenium works as expected with stock HDD, boots to stock xbox menu Confirmed the new HDD is locked (going into XeniumOS and see 'Unlock') I've also tried cloning using XboxHD and locked the HD using v1.6 eeprom - same error 13 result Looked at the new HDD in XFATExplorer and all looks correct unlocked. Also unlocked using the eeprom & relocked - so its definitely locking with correct key. stumped what to try next.
  16. Hi, I have a 1.1 xbox with cerbios 2.0.3R, a seagate barracuda 2tb hdd, startech adapter and 80 wire cable from amazon. The problem is that the optical drive works only if cold booted with a disk in. After that I can swap disks without problems and everything is working. If I cold boot without a disk in, and I insert it after a dash has booted after checking the disk the dvd status become Busy (XBMC) or unknown (unleashX). Same for games or audiocd. The only quirk is that if I coldboot with an audiocd and swap for a game, the xbox still see the disk as an audiocd. I also tried m8+ and it's the same. Interesting is that if I set cerbios without the nodvd patch it can't find the dvd drive and frag but if I cold boot with a disk in, it finds the drive and boot as normal. Where could be the problem? Thanks
  17. I have a OpenXenium modchip with a EvoXm8+ bios. My default dash is UnleashX e:\Dash\UnleashX) but I have XMBC4Gamers and XBMC-Emustation also installed (e:\apps\respective folder.) I installed the dashloader customizer and setup the buttons I want to use. Though when I boot and hold or frantic push the buttons nothing changes and it always boots into unleashx. Tried searching around and seems like all the posts I found talked about running Dashloader customizer with ind bios not EvoX. Will it work with EvoX? Also where it says "Set Custom Dash" is that setting the default if no button is pressed? Because that is also set as XBMC4gamers yet it still loads Unleashx.
  18. Usually they have a blank icon and the name looks like e.g. PGR2 [!] (i.e Project Gotham Racing 2) and when I go to the install folder and launch the .xbe manually it launches correctly, the issue also extends to identifying the artwork, as the games with this problem all have .xbns etc and seemingly the correct artwork. If I try to launch these 'blank' games from the Games menu the screen just goes blank for a minute and loads back into Xbmc. Any idea what's causing this? Thought I had a number of bad rips but turns out the shortcuts just aren't working for some reason
  19. Hello, my name is Carlos, I have an original xbox, I am connecting it by the eject button, because the power button is not working, when analyzing the tracks under the board I did not find corrosion, could someone please provide me with the scheme for measuring the points contact of the four tracks? so I can really check if they are broken.
  20. I'm running a 1.6 Xbox, M8+ and UnleashX. I have a 500GB SSD and have transferred over about 250gb of games so far, and only have four left. Whenever I try to transfer over any game directory, I get this result from FileZilla. It repeats this process for every file in the folder until I cancel the transfer. This happens when I try to write to F:\games, but Interestingly enough, I'm able to transfer games over to my 5gb E:\ partition just fine. I've tried Windows' built-in FTP browser, but had no luck there either. Any knowledge on how to fix this would be greatly appreciated. 21. Hello, Wondering is there any bios that will boot and function without working eeprom? Thanks
  22. Hi there, Noob that just join this community for some solid advice/direction for my upgrade, I have a working 1.6A xbox with a Super Aladdin Live modchip running XBMC on a 80 Gb IDE HDD My aim is to upgrade the HDD to a 500 Gb Sata HDD (I know I could go bigger) and also upgrade to Rocky 5 instead.... I currently have: - The 80 wire/40 pin IDE cable (ATA 100/133) - IDE to Sata converter - 500Gb Sata HDD What are my options? Do I have to hot swap the HDD with the disk drive with a program running on the xbox ? Thanks in advance for any help or links for guides/programs to help me !!
  23. Hi all! I'm having some trouble with installing an OpenXenium purchased from MakeMHZ into an Xbox 1.0. I'm relatively new to this, and have surely made some mistakes. When I start it up, it does this: https://imgur.com/a/HTHYrU2 Here's what I know: Stupidly, I soldered the D0 pad on the modchip to the 1.6 pad - that has been fixed. I don't think this is the issue, because I have a second chip that I did not make this mistake with, and it still does not work. I didn't scrape the solder mask off LPC ports, and really had trouble flowing the joints. The one I'm most concerned with is the bottom right joint of the first photo. Can I run a jump wire from that to one of the nearby test pads? I'm fairly confident the D0 pad on the modchip is correctly connected to D0 on the board - I tested the continuity from the chip to the both points on the board, and was good. I have photos available here: https://imgur.com/a/FX7R43B Thanks for any info in advance!!
  24. I was trying to upgrade my HDD with chimp but end of the sequence I can’t get pass the startup screen (without Microsoft logo). I tried xbhdm both disc and usb but no luck but Iooked at the HDD, C and E files is there but they’re empty. Btw i tried Hexen and og xbox installation discs but again doesn’t worked. I’ll add the board’s picture and you’ll notice that the chip is different and an odd one. I also have HDD’s eeprom. Is this situation salvageable or is it dead? I also have an non-chipped non-softmodded spare one as well. Thanks in advance.
  25. I have an OG Xbox that no longer works, I've tried a different power supply and replaced some capacitors that were bad no luck, my friend gave me a working Xbox same model. Is it possible to swap the drive from my dead one to the "new" one and retain all the data? Also if I can't do that would it be possible to transfer the save data and games to the new system?
