About Me

  1. Hi all. The OG Xbox holds a special place in my heart as it was the first console I purchased myself. Sadly, the HDD failed when I started high school. I sold all my games but I couldn’t throw the box away. I’m overjoyed to learn of the modding scene and that it’s possible to resurrect my girl from the dead. I’ve got an OpenXenium chip headed my way. Any suggestions for new HDDs and IDE adaptors would be greatly appreciated (along with any other advice). I’ll get the clock capacitor removed ASAP.
  2. Hello, I am looking at making a few of these for myself, and I'm wondering if anybody here has used one, or anything similar to it? I'm not familiar with kernel debugging using Super I/O, but it seems like something that could be useful if I want to learn all I can from the hardware of this system. DobaMuffin
  3. Hi, New member here and will hopefully be a first time xbox owner soon A friend is sending me a mod'd xbox to add to my collection, I have never owned or done any mods to one before so lots of learning on the horizon for me. This seemed a good place to come for info and help if required so here I am! My friend has done a bios mod to it, removed the clock cap which I understand are suicidal on these and replaced the Drive band so that saves me some work He has advised that I need to get a Hexen disc which I believe I can download from here somewhere and after that I
  4. Recently found an xbox in my mother in law's basement and getting back into modding it as a hobby. Nice to be a part of the site.
  5. Hi, new to the forums. Happy to be here. Trying to learn as much as I can about the OG Xbox since I just recently bought one online that came modded already.
  6. Hi there, I bought my xbox in 2002, bundled with jsrf/sega gt. Modded in 2003 and never stop using it since then. Now is used by my boys to discover good old games, and by to play arcade games with the X-Arcade controller. The only things I miss are light gun games, because my crt is a 100hz one... I remember the good old days of xbox.scene, and it seems that the flame is still alive.
  7. Hi Just joined, just got my Orig XBOX out of storage, looking to do a 2Tb SATA update, It has a 128Gb PATA drive, a Modded Samsung DVD so reads all discs, an Xecuter X3 Chip and Executer Front Panel with LCD Display and Infrared to remote power on/off the box! Its a v1.5 Just recapped the 3 CPU caps and tried to replace the Clock super Cap, all working nicely but the clock still defaults when I power off...
  8. Greetings! DNA64 (aka viral_dna) and also known as `DNA` on the old #xbox and #xbmc IRC channels where I was an OP and Dev. I joined the scene before the release of the system which I picked up on launch day and immediately began disassembling and dissecting the console. Some of you may remember me, or know me from other scenes, I've been in a great many of them over the last 20+ years. I'm currently involved in the Classics systems that have been recently coming out. But the OG XBOX holds a special place in my heart, in fact, it's the only XBOX that does so. Sadly a great deal of my pos
  9. Hello, found my original xbox 1.4 from back in highschool brought me back to the days when we had parties opening them up and modding them. Did some upgrades then I bought 3 more. Well I need the hexen disk and the site says I need to make 5 posts before I can download it to use on the xboxs unjust took apart and refurb.
  10. Hey guys, I'm starting my first Xbox mod ever. I had owned the original but got rid of it years ago and haven't owned an XBox360 since 2011. I had found an XBox on Facebook for $50, turns out it's a 1.6, fully functioning, and after I bought that my brother in law found his XBox while he was moving so I have that as well, haven't taken that apart yet. I've taken the first one all apart and cleaned it all out. The thermal paste on the GPU is super tacky, I've not run into a thermal paste like that before, is that normal? I plan on installing an Aladdin XT4032 and putting in a SATA HDD. If there
  11. Hi people! So i was walking pass a garbage dump waiting to be picked up by the trashmen that day, when this big bag caught my eye with some electronic gear in it. To my suprise it had loads of cables and controllers and this Xbox! That cool thing i wanted back then at the start of the millennium,.. but didn't had the money for it . Took it home, hooked it up and to my surprise it is working fine! (that attitude of people throwing working things away makes me quite angry ) I am in luck i guess. Looking up i found out it's best to mod it these days.. and found this:
  12. Hi all, new here. had my og xbox about 10yrs now. modded about 4yrs ago so looking whats new in the scene again as need to upgrade hdd to 500gb. Glad to be part of this fab forum.
  13. Hello guys. I'm a huge OG Xbox/PS2/Gamecube fan and have a nice emulation setup with my original Xbox. The 2000-2006 era holds the best memories for me gaming wise so I had to join. I hope to get to know everyone and maybe make some new friends.
  14. hi everyone new here i loving the scene
  15. Brought out my Original Xbox from the closet. Wanted to get a few games for it and update Hexen. It's already soft modded. I can't download yet, that sucks.
  16. Hi, I'm new here and have had both of my original xboxs modded when they came out years ago. I finally dusted them off and to my surprised they're still working great...well one of them at least. I'm hoping I can pick up some tips on what I can do to get the other up and running well again.
  17. Dusting off my old xbox. Thinking about dumping avalaunch and using XBMC4gamers instead. Is it worth it?
  18. So I've had a modded Xbox original for a few years now, and I just got around to using it again. Thanks to this forum it's running much stronger. Upgraded to the Startech SATA adapter, changed to an 80wire IDE cable (not pictured) and then moved over to a TSOP flash instead of a softmod.
  19. Hi, I found some original xbox from junk and I thought it would be cool if could make it work. It seems to be missing a hard drive and when I turn it on it blinks green three times then alternates orange and red lights. I don't know much about xbox but I would like to learn whatever I can from this community.
  20. New here. I had recently acquired what seems a soft modded xbox and just wanting to restore the original OS on it.
