This is the bottom side of motherboard Connect the two solder pads at R7R3 as in photo above. All Ver 1.0/1.1 Xbox's with a 'SHARP' TSOP chip must also connect the additional red wire as in the photo above. All other TSOP's DO NOT require this step. TSOP Unlock points for all Versions 1.2/1.3/1.4/1.5/ Xbox's This is the top side of the motherboard These Xbox's have both points located on the top of the motherboard, for the first point connect the two solder pads at R7D10 as in photo above. For the second point locate the junction between R7D2 and R7D1 and connect the two solder pads as in the photo above. After the solder points are completed you should re-assemble your xbox (but leave the top cover off) when the power button is pressed it should boot normally as it did before you started. Note if you get the message TSOP write protected while attempting to Flash the TSOP you might need to check and resolder the points to ensure a good connection was m while attempting to Flash the TSOP you might need to check and resolder the points to ensure a good connection was made. To split Split a 1MB TSOP (v1.0, v1.1) into 4 banks of 256k, the following picture explains how to accomplish this: Note: If you have a 1.6/1.6b Xbox, it has no TSOP and therefore you cannot flash it. You will have to install a modchip or softmod.
  4. This is a guide for anyone out there who may have an old mod chipped system and decides they want to Flash the TSOP and get rid of the mod chip. For Xbox revisions 1.0 to 1.5 only. I've had my v1.1 Xbox since almost launch (in Australia) the box has served me well for over 17 years. Had it modded by a guy we found in the newspaper. Just some small maintenance along the journey - refurbish the DVD drive (Samsung), fix trace corrosion and remove the clock capacitor. Now it was time to say goodbye to the Aladdin Advance. This may not be the quickest way, but I think it would be one of the safest. Full backup of all partitions on my PC Backup of EEPROM (Through Evox Dash) - Send to PC Backup of HDD EEPROM through Config Magic(different to the Evox Backup?) - Send to PC Locked the HDD to the Xbox via ConfigMagic or Evox Dash etc Softmodded with Slayers 3.3 - C drive no virtual Removed Aladdin Advance mod chip - mine was soldered directly to MB so be careful when removing. I accidently broke off the C702 component and had to solder back on. Soldered the correct TSOP write points for my Xbox revision - For Reference https://www.ogxbox.com/forums/index.php?/topic/20-tsop-flash-guide/ Checked BIOS with Bios checker on AutoInstallerDeluxe 4.5.3 TSOP confirmed writable. It will say 'TSOP?' up the top of the screen Ran TruHexen 2020, flash bios the correct BIOS to TSOP depending on revision - v1.0 & v1.1 can support up to 1MB Bios, v1.2-v1.5 can support 256KB Bios - M8 Plus.67 is safest Ran option 3.5.2 on TruHexen2020 - clean C after TSOP - To remove Softmod Reformatted F and G drives with XBpartioner 1.3 - ensuring they show the full and correct amount in File Explorer/Your dash of choice Delete contents of C and E partitions via FTP, and FTP over original C and E contents, reboot the Xbox FTP all F and G data back to the Xbox. 5. I was talking to someone about my A51 arcade cab this morning and how I had changed the old failing IDE HDD out for a flash solution. And as a result it got me thinking if anyone had ever done this with the XBOX and did it work? You can but IDE Flash card adapters really cheap like this one: https://www.amazon.com/Syba-Insertion-Connects-Interface-SD-CF-IDE/dp/B000YUMLPI?th=1 or https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/NEW-SD-To-3-5-40Pin-Male-IDE-Hard-Disk-Drive-Adapter-Card-3-5-IDE/303593957108?_trkparms=aid%3D111001%26algo%3DREC.SEED%26ao%3D1%26asc%3D20160908105057%26meid%3D633b9ac4a9054d3292235044254373aa%26pid%3D100675%26rk%3D1%26rkt%3D15%26mehot%3Dnone%26sd%3D303593957108%26itm%3D303593957108%26pmt%3D1%26noa%3D1%26pg%3D2380057%26brand%3DUnbranded&_trksid=p2380057.c100675.m4236&_trkparms=pageci%3A39467bb8-c854-11ea-ad71-74dbd180435c|parentrq%3A5dda769d1730aadcf4c6bb5efffbfed4|iid%3A1 I remember from doing my cab that some are better than others and some just dont work, But I figured I would ask as it could potentially be a better option than using the old IDE HDD's or using a sata converter?
  6. Hi guys after succesfully tsop my crystal og xbox 1.4 i was trying to re-install xbmc4gamer and when i try to install it in partition e i get an error of cannot copy D and is not working. 7. If i flash a bios with the skip dvd check will i still be able to boot from dvd on a blank harddrive?
  8. Hello, I have an original Xbox (can't determine which version, looks like 1.4 or 1.5) modded with Aladdin Advance. It worked well until today - I decided to update the bios with EvoX D.6 EjectFix (checksum 74c6235497f474bf88b54b3fc52a20b2). Bin file with it was placed on my HDD so I presumed that it's ok to flash it. After flashing, my Xbox turned off and when I turned it on, it startet to FRAG (two green flashes, then green/red flash with no video). What have I done? How I can undone it?
  9. Unable to flash BIOS. Error reading bios file (see pic). To me it sounds like I have a bad DVD burn? Just wanted to confirm. I did burn at the slowest write speed. Will re-burn again. -v1.1 mobo -XeXEn 2018 -Using Verbatium DVD+R media -Attempting to flash iND-BIOS.5004 (F and G) to use 2TB SATA HDD. Thanks in advance.
  10. Ok, so by mistake I used a winbond flash method on a non winbond TSOP (ST), which resulted in the console freezing during the flash process and (ofc) followed by frag. Hopefuly i suceeded in installing an old alladdin modchip which i had lying around and the console works fine. So here' my question. Is it possible to re-flash the TSOP theoretically using the following method: Boot the console and then disable the chip without shutting down (e.g. desoldering the D0 point) and try to flash the TSOP correctly this time?
  11. Hey guys, right now I own a 128mb xbox from n64freak and a 1tb hdd. Unfortunately some of my games do not boot, neither from hdd nor from disk. Others boot but get hung up on the loading screens. I tried different sources for my games on the hdd and they still hang, even with the original disk. Because of that I tried different FTP programs to, but it didn't help. Right now I am running some kind of IND-BIOS refering to my startup screen. I already tried reformating my hdd, but it didn't help, so my guess is that it might be a BIOS problem. The question now is, as i never tried that before (the installed BIOS was flashed by N64FREAK), which bios is the best one for my setup if i want to upgrade to a 2tb hdd? Or might the problem be of some other source? Any help is much appreciated.
  12. Hello i have a xbox with a almost dead hard drive and a dvd drive that works barely. The previous owner performed a tsop very long ago and that's why i believe that i can boot to hexen without the hard drive, also i saw some solder residue on the pads to unlock the bios protection. (Cleaned the old solder and bridged the points again) I have a 1.4 with a Windbond and focus chip, the main problem that i have is that i can't move the options in the Gentoox because my only working controller seems to be a fake controller or at least the original pcb was replaced with a generic one, someone told me on the Xbox-hq forums that i can just drop the bios file on C:/Bios . Can i boot HEXEN and ftp the bios file from there? Also what bios do you recommend? I can't decide beetween evo m8 or iND-BiOS.5004.67 Thanks for your time.
  13. Could I have some advice please on a way to TSOP flash a bios of recommendation without the use of the DVD drive. So off the hard drive or USB.
  14. Over the past week I've picked up 5 1.1 consoles with a 1mb tsop bank. What BIOS would you recommend me using for the 1mb chip and method to flash it via the HDD. Note: I don't have a way to burn a disc with something like hexen so far so I'd be flashing via the HDD.
  15. Hi; i would like to flash a 1mb bios to my 1.1 xbox. I downloaded truhexen disc and it only allows the option for xecuter modchips. The modchip i have is unknown. Could someone please assist?
  16. Hi folks, I purchased a 1.2 XBox not knowing that there is a SmartXX V2 working in it Now I'm trying to get all the old rubbish from the box and 1st. changed fhe HDD to a 1TB and reinstalled the XBox with HeXen. My next thing would be trying to update the SmartXX OS (Build 3335) and the Bios. I learned that the M7 Mod-Bios is a pretty old one. Are there any links between SmartXX and the bios? e.g. I can/should only use/flash special bios-files which are compatible with the SmartXX Mod-Chip? Where can I get Yan update for the SmartXX OS nowadays? All sources do not work Dors anyone has a tip for good working Bios to change against the old M7 one on my XBox? Where can I find such bioses?
  17. In search of a full 2mb flash memory dump from an xenium.
  18. I got a used modded xbox today. As I am stupid, instead of reading much into it, I tried to update from Evox m7 to m8 plus. In the update zip I downloaded, there was not only the M8 bios, but also a file called flashbios_v303.bin. I thought that would be the right file to flash, so I did. It seems like the bios is not compatible with my mod chip. While I am able to boot and select a file to flash from the HDD (I tried to flash an old file), it just gives me the error "Unkown flash! Halting". Is there anyway to make flashbios write onto my modchip so I have a working bios again?
  19. Hi guys, i just bought a softmoded xbox with a 250gb HDD in it, works well but it's a PAL Xbox, wich mean that i don't have HD options, and it's just unwatchable on my 4k Sony TV, who by the way doesn't have component ports, only RCA and HDMI, i'm stuck with the unfindable and expensive HD LINK by Pound, but lucky me, i found a similar cable converter on Amazon for 25€, even with bad reviews i have no choices but to order it and test it. So i solder the points for the TSOP, and also removed the clock capacitor, burned a Hexen DVD (the 2018 one) , launched it, choose the suitable flashing option for my Winbound 1.4 motherboard, and tried to flash the bios, BUT : i have a non official controller! And as i'm sure you know, gentoox is not capable of recognizing no names controller, but only the official one, and of course : i don't have one (but order one on Rakuten), i tried multiple time with every bios that was on the DVD (only the windbounds one of course), but gentoox just don't like cheap controllers no matter how fast i press on the D-Pad Now that you have the context, here's my question : Is there any way to flash the custom bios without the gentoox tool ? I know that we can do it with Unleashx (or Evox i don't remember), but i can't find the bios anywhere (just don't know where to look too besides googling it), and even if i find one, i'm not sure where to put it exactly or if it's safe to do anything without Hexen or Xblast. Thanks in advance (and i'm french by the way, so i'm sorry for my poor english) Regards Nabil
  20. I was playing with a different 007 Agent Under Fire game save hack and while flashing a new BIOS on a version 1.0 Xbox I flashed a 256k BIOS(STUPID I know). Yep it was FRAGing afterwards now you can either fit a mod chip and be done with it or do a 3 wire flash recovery by following the instructions that can be found by working the Google on the interweb. The instructions say 1 wire soldered to ground and the other 2 get soldered to points on the bottom of the mother board(pain in the butt as you now have to remove the PCB again), Me been lazy and not wanting to remove the PCB again found an easy way to do the 3 wire trick. {pic 1} You need a test lead with alligator clips both ends and a pin. {pic 2} Clip the pin in one end and the other on the metal shield(you did leave the metal shield in didn't you)and the point of the pin is gently held on pin 1 and 2 of the TSOP chip. {pic 3} Power on the Xbox and if all goes well your Xbox boots. Remove the pin that's shorting the 2 pins to ground. Now flash the correct 1024k (1 meg) BIOS. If you don't like the idea of shorting the pins on the TSOP IC the points in the pic below show the same points on the top of the PCB and the bottom of the PCB. {pic 4} 1 2 3 4 Inside the box on lower right of pic 4 are the same points as in pic 1 On side note I did try a mod chip and with some BIOS's the Xbox booted but with no video out but the Xbox was still showing on my home network and I was still able to network in to the box. SS Dave Those who can hard-mod, Those who can’t soft-mod. Ps If you like it don't forget to say thanks and please give me any feedback good or bad!
  21. Hi! I’ve recently bought and repaired a (very rusty and water damaged) Xbox. After cleaning it up, removing the clock cap and galvanizing, painting and taping the RF shield I chipped it with an Aladdin 4032 mod chip. Now that my wife is sufficiently annoyed with me spending a lot of time on this, is there an easy way to TSOP flash my v1.1 Xbox without removing my mod chip? I want to get it done now in case the mod chip fails in the future. The original hard drive is very much worthless as is the original DVD drive. I booted Hexen using a PC dvd drive just fine after chipping it. I just want to make sure I’ll be able to use any hard drive in it without the mod chip in case it breaks.
  22. Hello everybody. I recently got to thinking about the data retention of the flash memory used in the original xbox. I purchased an original xbox not to long ago that was basically a coma console in that it would have a green light, but no audio or video. Turns out the bios was corrupted or something similar and that it would boot with extreme difficulties after pressing the eject button a bunch of times until the drive ejected. Basically these symptoms. I did manage to flash a custom bios onto the system and that solved the booting issues it was having, but that then leads me to what I have as a discussion today. Looking at the datasheet for the Winbond W49F020 series of flash memory used in my console, I notice that it has a data retention of 20 years. This means that it should hold the data for about 20 years no problem, but it seems like mine started having issues early. By what I can tell, to refresh this data and basically restart the countdown, I need to reflash the bios to the chip rewriting the data. This brings it back to a state where the data is properly stored and is ready to last another 15-20 years. My only concern about the whole thing is that flashing a new bios can go wrong and cause the console not to boot without a mod chip. My question to someone more knowledgeable than me in this topic is, are we going to see more and more stock consoles fail to boot due to corrupt bioses in the up and coming years? I know that 1.0 and 1.1 consoles already have some issues with their 1mb flash chips, but will all sorts of version have issues? ie, 1.0 - 1.6? Is this just a limitation of anything using flash memory in a component used to boot up? I know nothing lasts forever, but I do try to make it last as long as I can. Thanks for taking the time to read through this and I hope it can spark some good discussion on the topic. Also if anything I have here is incorrect, please let me know as I am still learning about hardware in general, and I try my best to be accurate in my information. DobaMuffin

    No Flash Bios?

Sorry, guys. I tried to flashare the bios of an xbox 1.0 with Hexen's dvd. I wanted to put the M8 F&G on but when I press Y nothing happens. I wanted to make a way n to remove the DVD control to be able to put double hd with switch, but nothing, does not erase me the old and does not make me flashare the new. I mount an Aladdin xt chip.
  24. I'm not really an electronics guy, so bear with me here. 1.6 box, with a DuoX2 chip in it from about 15 years ago. One day a couple of months ago it was DOA, opened it up and the 5 capacitors were shot. Replaced them, with my godawful soldering skills, and it booted up and worked for about 3 minutes, loaded an emulator, then it froze, rebooted, and it powercycles twice and is flashing red/orange. Did I accidently fry something, or jump a connection where I shouldn't have, or cook something during the desoldering (PITA, me not being an electronics guy) or soldering? Is there spots i can look to diagnose a possible issue?
  25. Jargon Buster TSOP - IS THE ONBOARD CHIP THAT BOOTS THE MS BIOS , YOU WILL WANT TO BOOT FROM THIS FOR XBOX LIVE. LPC - THE HOLES WHERE THE MODCHIP CONNECT TO THE MOBO USING WIRES OR PINHEADER OR QUICKSOLDER METHODS. FRAG - FLASHES RED AND GREEN. THE XBOX IS TELLING YOU SOMETHING IS WRONG AND IT CANNOT BOOT POSSIBLY DUE TO POOR SOLDERING. BOOT - WHEN THE XBOX LOADS A BIOS AND STARTS UP THIS PROCESS IS CALLED BOOTING. BIOS - THE PROGRAM THAT IS STORED ON THE MODCHIP OR TSOP. IT'S EITHER MS OR HACKED (EVOX OR X2). PIN HEADER - 2 ROWS OF PINS THAT YOU SOLDER INTO THE LPC HOLES AND THEN SIMPLY PLUG YOUR CHIP ONTO IT. MOBO - SIMPLY MEANS THE XBOX MOTHERBOARD. D0 - THIS IS A LITTLE VIA ON THE TOP OF THE MOBO OR A SMALL PAD ON THE BOTTOMSIDE OF THE MOBO THAT WHEN GROUNDED PREVENTS THE TSOP BOOTING. VIA - A VERY SMALL LITTLE CIRCLE. YOU WILL NEED PRACTICE BEFORE YOU CAN SOLDER TO THESE. YOU CAN AVOID THESE ON EARLIER MODELS BUT NOT ON A V1.6 EVOX DASHBOARD - AN ALTERNATE DASHBOARD FOR THE XBOX THAT HAS A MENU TO LOAD GAMES , FLASH YOUR BIOS ETC. NOT TO BE CONFUSED WITH EVOX BIOS WHICH IS DIFFERENT AGAIN. EVOX DASHBOARD IS MADE UP OF A NUMBER OF FILES THAT YOU TRANSFER ONTO YOUR HARD DRIVE OR A CDRW. THE LATEST VERSION IS 3935. EVOX BIOS - A HACKED BIOS FOR THE XBOX , IT ALLOWS YOU TO PLAY BACKUP GAMES AND RUN COOL APPS LIKE EVOX DASHBOARD. THE LASTEST BIOS IS M8 PLUS. X2 BIOS - A HACKED BIOS FOR THE XBOX , IT ALLOWS YOU TO PLAY BACKUP GAMES AND RUN COOL APPS LIKE EVOX DASHBOARD. THE LASTEST BIOS IS 4983. HOT SWAP - THE NAME GIVEN TO THE TECHNIQUE OF BOOTING THE XBOX WITH ONE MODCHIP (WITH THE LID OFF AND THE DVDROM TURNED AROUND THE WRONG WAY) AND THEN UNPLUGGING THE MODCHIP FROM THE HEADERPIN AND REPLACING IT WITH A BLANK ONE OR ONE THAT HAS HAD A BAD FLASH AND THEN FLASHING THIS CHIP. FLASHING - PROGRAMMING A BLANK CHIP OR REPROGRAMMING A CHIP WITH A BIOS FILE. SPIDERCHIP AND ALADDINS NEED A 256K BIOS. DUOX2 NEED A 512K BIOS. ALSO V1.6 XBOX'S REQUIRE THE EVOX M8 PLUS V1.6 BIOS. OTHER MODELS CAN USE THE X2 4981 OR X2 4983 BIOS. FLASHBIOS - A SPECIAL BIOS THAT ONLY LETS YOU DO A FEW FUNCTIONS. (WONT PLAY BACKUP GAMES). ITS MAIN PURPOSE IS TO FLASH YOUR MODCHIP WITH A HACKED BIOS. LOCK - LOCKS A HARD DRIVE SO THE MICROSOFT BIOS AND DASHBOARD WILL BOOT. THIS IS NEEDED FOR XBOX LIVE. UNLOCK - UNLOCKS A HARD DRIVE FOR USE IN A PC. YOU MUST UNLOCK A XBOX HARD DRIVE BEFORE IT CAN BE USED IN A COMPUTER.
