About Me

  1. Xbox Alpha Kit/Durango. It was sent out to developers of launch titles when the Xbox Dev/Debug hardware was delayed. ======================================================================================================= Xbox Development Kit (XDK) Final Version of the XBOX DEV Kit. It included a SCSI connection in the back to connect to a PCI card in a PC to emulate the dvd drive. Otherwise, it is the same functionally as a Debug Kit. DVT4 on the left. DVT3 on the right with prototype metal jewel. ======================================================================================================= Debug Kit Units Available: Unknown Retail Price: Not for resale Xbox Debug Kits were never available through the retail market, however they have popped up enough on the second-hand scene to be worth mentioning in this article. These Xbox consoles are translucent green and have the words "Debug Kit" on the front of the case, just to the right of controller port 4. Unlike retail consoles (which only contained 64MB of RAM), Xbox Debug Kit consoles had 128MB of RAM. The Debug Kits could not run retail game discs. One could often find pre-release or cancelled versions of game software on these Xbox Debug Kits. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Xbox_(console)_special_limited_editions ======================================================================================================= 2001 Launch Team Edition Retail Price: Not For Sale Units produced: ~1000 The Xbox Launch Team 2001 Special Edition is a translucent green Xbox with a jewel that is silk screened with the message "Great work!" and a copy of a printed signature from Bill Gates. The words "Special Edition" are printed on the front right of the console. This Xbox was sold, not given, to members of the Xbox launch team including Hardware, ATG, Dev, First Party Games and Games Studios, Marketing, and others. Two exclusive translucent green "Duke" controllers were included. Along with the console, employees had an option to purchase 6 game titles marked "not for resale" at a reduced rate from the Microsoft campus store. The Launch Team 2001 consoles were hardware revision 1.0 and all were produced in a Mexico production facility on November 7, 2001 or November 8, 2001. Since these systems were offered for sale to qualifying employees instead of being given away, not all were sold. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Xbox_(console)_special_limited_editions ======================================================================================================= Partner Edition Retail Price: Not For Sale Units produced: ~1000 (Thought to be closer to 60 units) The Partner Edition is a translucent green Xbox with a jewel that is silk screened with the message "Thanks for Partnering with Xbox" and signature from Bill Gates. Unlike the Launch Team consoles, these did not have the "Special Edition" label on the front right of the console. This Xbox was given to hardware companies that produced components for the Xbox such as Nvidia and Intel. A translucent green Controller S was included with this model. These are considered to be more rare than the Launch Team console because of their distribution to companies rather than individual people makes them harder to come across in the world. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Xbox_(console)_special_limited_editions ======================================================================================================= 50 Cent BulletProof Units Available: 1 Retail Price: Not For Sale The 50 Cent Pure White Edition Xbox was given away in a promotion by Australian television channel Channel V. It was signed by 50 Cent and is aesthetically similar to the Pure White edition but has "50 Cent Bulletproof" printed in gold to celebrate the release of the video game 50 Cent: Bulletproof. It was given away along with a copy of the game, 50 Cent CDs and a 50 Cent poster.https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Xbox_(console)_special_limited_editions ======================================================================================================= 50 Cent BulletProof 2 This is the second version of the 50 Cent Bulletproof Xbox. One was released in Australia & one in New Zealand. Thank you Carl Coran. ======================================================================================================= Units Available: 1 Retail Price: Not For Sale The Atari Edition Xbox was given away at the Leipzig Game Convention in 2004, It is one of a kind and is orange in color. Attendees needed to collect all 5 pins that Atari gave away, which spelled ATARI.[9] If the attendee was able to find all 5 pins, they could be entered into the contest, with the winner receiving the one-of-a-kind orange Atari Edition Xbox, an Atari T-shirt, headband, wristband, Atari bracelet, and the original 5 pins. [10] It is worth noting that the Atari Xbox began as a standard black Xbox which was later airbrushed by Atari.https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Xbox_(console)_special_limited_editions ====================================================================================================== Conkers Xbox console, 3 made for a Conkers tournement in Sydney Australia. Thank you Carl Coran. ====================================================================================================== Crystal Units available: Unknown Retail Price: Unknown The crystal edition Xbox first came out around March 2004 in Europe, celebrating the console's second anniversary in the region. The box bundle consist of the console and 2 matching crystal controllers. A few weeks later, up to Summer 2004, the bundle was also sold in Canada stores. As you may imagine, if you're a high level executive delivering a product you may have to call in a few special favors along the way. What better thank you to certain people than a personalized xbox thank you note? ===================================================================================================== Halo 2 (Asia) Units Available: Unknown Retail Price: $249 On March 18, 2005, an Ice Blue Halo 2 Limited Edition Xbox was released in Canada and Asia. Japan got most of the special editions in an attempt to get them to accept the Xbox. That never happened in the numbers that Microsoft needed. Pictures comparing the console to a Halo Translucent Green version have been posted at the Assembler forums.[6] This has been proven to be a legitimate system, and the thread at the Assembler forums show images of several of these orange Xbox case tops at the factory as production samples. It appears that only 1 of the Orange Xbox consoles escaped destruction. As this is an actual Microsoft produced Xbox from a mold (instead of a painted case), this is likely to be the rarest Xbox console in existence. A video can be seen on YouTube, on the channel "MetalJesusRocks", titled "Ultra Rare HALO XBOX DISCOVERED!" posted on April 24, 2015. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Xbox_(console)_special_limited_editions The previous owner (Emilio) sold it(for $15,000.00), got $9K upfront and opened his own gaming consignment shop. He is still waiting for the remainder of the cash. But the new owner is some girl who owns a competing gaming consignment shop. It's a museum of sorts, but not like you'd think. It's currently located in Renton WA http://assemblergames.com/l/threads/2001-launch-team-xbox-how-many.62327/page-2 ================================================================================================= Units Available: 1300 Retail Price: ¥35,800 JPY On December 19, 2002, a Panzer Dragoon Orta Special Edition Xbox was released in Japan to commemorate the release of Panzer Dragoon Orta on the Xbox. The console's special features included a white case with the Panzer Dragoon Orta logo on the top in the lower left hand corner, as well as some artwork from Orta surrounding the Xbox jewel. Unit was only available to those who preordered on Nov 1, 2002, through Sega Direct. Included with the Special Edition console was a matching white Controller S, an Xbox Component A/V cable, an Xbox Component AV pack, a copy of Panzer Dragoon Orta with its soundtrack CD, and a dragon head necklace. When the console was first planned, 3,000 units were set to be produced, but during production the process of applying the silk screen design of the black lines seen on the top of the console proved to be a very difficult task. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Xbox_(console)_special_limited_editions ================================================================================================= Pure White Units Available: 1,000 Retail Price: Unknown The Pure White Xbox was only sold in Japan with the option to engrave up to 20 letters.https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Xbox_(console)_special_limited_editions ================================================================================================= Skeleton Black Units Available: 50,000 planned - 10,000 sold Retail Price: ¥35,800 JPY In 2001, a Clear Black Limited Edition Xbox (also commonly referred to as the "smoke" edition) was released in Japan to commemorate the Xbox's Japanese release. It appears to have been a gift given out at a company party. It is most likely full of roaches... wherever it is. ================================================================================================= Tony Hawk's Underground 2 Units Available: 10 Retail Price: Not For Sale The Tony Hawk's Underground 2 Special Edition Xbox was issued in October 2004 in conjunction with Activision and online skater magazine caughtinthecrossfire in the United Kingdom. This special edition console was only available as a winner's prize at skateboarding and gameplay competitions to commemorate and promote the release of Tony Hawk's Underground 2 on the Xbox. The artwork was airbrush painted by hand in an urban graffiti style with translucent matte lacquer finish. The artwork covered the top of the case and followed the X shape downwards on the corners of the Xbox. A very limited production run of 10 graffiti style units was commissioned and was issued "Not For Resale". Included with the THUG2 Special Edition console was a matching Crystal Controller S and a Tony Hawk autographed copy of Tony Hawk's Underground 2. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Xbox_(console)_special_limited_editions ================================================================================================= Translucent Green (Not Halo or Debug) Units Available: 20,000 Manufactured - 5,000 sold (Europe) Retail Price: €229/£149 On May 2, 2003 a Translucent Green Limited Edition Xbox(rare) was released in Europe to celebrate Xbox's one-year European birthday. The console came with two matching Controller S and retailed for €229/£149. It had a limited manufacture of 20,000 units but only sold 5,000 units(in Europe). The styling of the Translucent Green Xbox is identical to Debug Units used in game development; of course, the retail versions lacked the words "Debug Kit" on the front of the case. The green Controller S was also sold separately. The Translucent Green Limited Edition Xbox was also released in Canada and came with one matching Controller S and two games, Crimson Skies and Project Gotham Racing 2. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Xbox_(console)_special_limited_editions ================================================================================================= Units Available: 200,000 Retail Price: $200 USD On April 2, 2004, Microsoft issued a press release announcing the upcoming retail availability of the Halo Limited Edition Xbox combo.[5] The Xbox console and its included S Controller were translucent green with "Halo" written on the front of the console, at the right hand side, near controller port 4. This unit appears very similar to the Translucent Green "Debug Kit" Xbox consoles, only replacing the words "Debug Kit" with the "Halo" logo.https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Xbox_(console)_special_limited_editions ================================================================================================= World Racing Units Available: 6 Retail Price: Not For Sale The World Racing Xbox was only given away in Germany in a contest.https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Xbox_(console)_special_limited_editions ================================================================================================= EA Xbox Live White` Quantity: 30 This Special Edition console was given to Electronic Arts to celebrate their support of the nascent XBOX Live service. I am told there are 60 of the controllers that match in existence, and two came with the console. If these numbers are correct, this indicates that only 30 of these consoles were ever produced.http://imgur.com/gallery/ETwhl MSN Crystal Quantity: 1? This special edition was only recently discovered. Nothing is known about it for certain. It was most likely part of MSN's gaming zone offering.
  2. So I've been doing a bit of research to try and find out more about this OG Xbox Halo 2 Edition I have - it's a Ice Blue Halo 2 Release edition with the Black Xbox logo on the top "Black jewel" I beleive it's refered to. Some sites I have found (https://gamingdoc.org/) & (https://consolemods.org/) - list the serial numbers as both: 2NNNNNN 51805 , 2NNNNNN 50805 Are these internal board Serial Numbers? The xbox is still in it's plastic bag packaging so I'm not going to open it to check but on the stick externally - it has 4044117 51505 :SERIAL NO. & 241 4044117 51505 :PRODUCT ID Does anyone know anything more about this? Like can I confirm the unit I have is actually the Xbox Halo 2 Edition from Asia ? (PAL) I'm in Australia so it's likely from the Asian Market. Considering it's still in it's plastic bag sealed - Are these things considered rare still? Thanks in advance for any info anyone can provide me with! I'll attach the photos I have in the next comment from my phone.
  3. OGXBox Installer 2021 v1.9.3 Cerbios Edition (Refresh) Created by Sweetdarkdestiny Just "small" updated version of his Installer till 2.0.0. comes out. Changes: Fixed some small funny stuff. Changed the EvoX m8+ BFM bios to Cerbios 2.3.1 BFM bios. (This fixes the boot issue people have reported.) Added an option to flash the latest Cerbios v2.3.1 in various flavors. Updated to the latest XBMC4Gamers build. Updated to the latest XBMC-Emustation build. And with the 1.9.0 build: This will now boot without the use of a BFM bios (Like Slayers) and loads a mini boot menu. In there you have the options to launch the installer in various modes: Launch OGXBox Installer - DHCP & No BFM Bios Launch OGXBox Installer - DHCP & BFM Bios Launch OGXBox Installer - Static IP & No BFM Bios Launch OGXBox Installer - Static IP & BFM Bios With the 1.9.3 build: The disc will now be able to boot using the endgame exploit. Sweet tells me that there are some small updates to the build, so I have updated the link. Sweetdarkdestiny: "Some people seem to have problems with brand new HDDs which cause this installer sit on the doggy logo forever. To avoid the need of using anything else other as this disc you can boot now without the BFM and set up your HDD. You can also switch the mode at any time if you like. Please Take note that some options in the "No BFM" versions are slightly different. Not by much but you may see it if you used the old version. However, I hope this make some ppl happy." 4. Sigh.... I feel like such a hypocrite... To be fair, I tried to order the HD+ only so I could use it with the stm32 module since I thought that would be another cool project to try. Apparently I also ordered a Stellar. I was like, ah CHRIST! Now I have to install it! So here goes. It's going in a 1.4 128MB Halo Edition console.

It’s possible they work just fine. Minor cosmetic scuffs on everything but does not effect functionality. A cracks on the Xbox itself, mostly around where the case screws go. One of the corners does have damage. See pics. Asking for $650 or best offer shipped in the US. PayPal only. Let me know if you have any questions! What’s included: - Limited Edition Japanese “Skeleton” Xbox - 4 special edition controllers - 3 wireless controllers (untested) - Pound HDMI adapter - Madcatz HD component/composite cable - 3 controller extension cables - 1 controller port to usb female adapter - power cable Mods: - TSOP flashed 1.4v motherboard w/ EvoX bios - 128mb ram upgrade - Startech IDE to Sata adapter - 80 wire IDE cable - 1TB SSD drive - Insignia Live setup (account/gamertag will be included) - DVD drive delete - XBMC-Emustation Dashboard - RGB lights
  8. This is my worklog. I'll post pics and thoughts! Why am I sharing this? Because I can! Modding the other 1.4 halo console tonight with an XBlast Lite from Tomcat. I don't have to share such a routine procedure, but I feel like doing so. I should celebrate: I will finally start receiving the income I've been waiting for and I'll have all the time I want to learn new skills and get better at the things I've always wanted to learn. I will also be able to invest in consoles and get a little bit of everything and try to get some broad experience with all there is available. Oh and I bought a shitload of pinnheaders. I can mod like, 60 Xboxes now. I'm unsure of what to do for sure with this console. I don't know whether to keep the chip in, or just use it to flash the TSOP so I can sell the console. But it will have another 2tb origins drive in it, just like my X3 does. I have some shit to buy... I'll start another thread about it. Anyway! Oh and I'll try to use this chip to revive my black coma console.
  9. Hey all, first post as I stumbled across this page while trying to research my halo edition xbox. I pulled it out of storage and wanted to sell it as I havent used it in forever and am fairly out of the video game collecting these days. Memory is pretty fuzzy on this as it's been awhile, but I bought this new when it came out, used it a good amount and then ended up putting the Xenium Ice modchip in with the solderless adapter. It's been in a closet for at least the past 10 years. I believe the hard drive and disc drive are original, almost positive I never replaced those. I hooked it all up and tested it, works great, the only game I had laying in the closet with it was Sneak King, so I tossed that in to confirm the drive still worked, no issues. The case looks great, no cracks. It is missing one of the rubber feet. Controller, power and video cables are the original ones that came with it. I'd like to get $300 + shipping for it, but am open to offers. Pics attached and happy to take others if anyone needs.
  10. Happy Halloween to all the X3 Config Live Skin lovers out there! Webclean is a super simple clean skin, now with a Halloween edition. You can download them all or just grab your favorite one. Enjoy! Downloads See Readme for install instructions. Note: Lite saw some decent updates as well and Dark had one minor adjustment not worth mentioning.
  11. Anyone have a top and dvd bezel for a Halo Edition Console let me know. Need 1 to complete a set.
  12. Hello together! (Sorry for my bad englisch i‘m from austria) A bit of a forword: My name is Markus and i'm from vienna in austria. I'm 23 years old. I grew up with late PS1, PS3, Xbox One/X and Series X. As an hobby i collected video game consoles (MS, Sony, Nintendo, Sega), as well as clean/service them. I realized that i didnt have the time to play them all, so i reduced the collection a bit. I have a special place in my heart for the OG Xbox, because i was always fascinated how the modding scene is still active and cares for the console. So i had the idea to „rebuild“ or „build“ my first console…..and i wanted to be an OG Xbox. My contact with that console, is restricted to having a stock 1.6 and later a softmodded (Splintercell-Softmod) one. But i sold them long ago. But after the last years 20th anniversary of the OG Xbox i saw that as a good time to make „the wish come true“. So here is how it goes: First i had to upgrade my tools, so i bought some tools to do the work properly. I solder/work on other things for a long time now, but for the future (to work on console/motherboards etc.) i bought a desoldering station, a smd hot-air soldering station and a new soldering iron. (A better soldering station is on the way.) I bought some tools like new iFixit kits, painter knifes, tweezer sets and much more: The case/the outer shell comes from a near mint/barley used Crystal Edition 1.6. (I killed the motherboard because of working with inproper tools ) The technical Basis is from a old 2004 1.4 Xbox. I bought it with a defect drive, just for the old motherboard revision. (I want to go for the older revision because its easier to mod, better mod support and for further upgrades not possible with the 1.6) As you see, on this board a few caps are balged and defect. (The badest ones are those around the CPU and the silver 1500uf ones.) I bought a 1.6 recap kit a long time ago and i realized around 80-90% of the caps are usable for the 1.4 aswell. So i recaped the motherboard. In the same time i installed, the pinheader for the LPC port and grounded D0. I also resoldered everything because i dont were satisified with the solder joints. I repasted the GPU/CPU with Arctic MX-4 and installed the headspreader and the brackets for it. The next step was to install the new Noctua 60mm Fan with the help of a 3D printed mounting bracket. Aswell as install the motherboard, psu etc. for a test. I serviced/cleaned the drive of the mint/ barley used 1.6 and installed a new belt. I installed the original HDD for the first test/bootup. I tested it and it boots right up (I was really relieved that it did )! Here are the next steps i will/want to do: Install a WD 500GB with 80 wire IDE cable and IDE/Sata Adapter. Install the custom dashboard/software etc. Install a custom made 20th anniversary edition Jewel on the Xbox and the controllers. (Will take some time until they arrive) Install 128MB of Ram (i dont really use it, but i want to do the installation out of interest. But this will also take some delivery time) "Install/Use" of Bitfunx Xbox2HDMI adapter Paint the button board (the one in the front) black/matte black Work to the metal shield? (Questions following) So up to my question....its about the metal shielding. I know its for signal noise reduction....but i saw a few clear case mods on that forum where they removed the complete shield. Is it possible without troubles/problems? If not, i thought about the idea to only remove the top shield and paint the lower one inside and out in black/matte black. (With sanding the paint of the grounding points.) Whats the better option? Or is it better to just paint the complete top/lower shield on the outside and leavet it that way....(with the complete shield in the console) Also what is your opinion of my first console motherboard work/ first console modding?

  15. Today’s pick up. Was willing to spend some money on myself so I picked up a clean, virgin and working halo edition Xbox with extras. If anyone knows anything about those 2 halo copies looking like mirror reflections please let me know. Thought it was odd. Gonna have a cold one now and game out for the rest of the night
  16. So I’m not the most educated in terms of consoles or modding or repair so please bare with me here. I recently purchased a Translucent Halo edition Xbox on offer up to try and capture that good nostalgia hit that anything from that time does for me and got it for a killer price because of the fact that when it is booted on it errors out to either error 07 or 09. I have jumped down this rabbit hole time after time after time since buying this in trying to troubleshoot, isolate and address what the culprit or culprits are but for every solution I seem to find there I then another 20 questions. I have a very good feeling it is a faulty HDD but I’m not sure if it failed from age or possibly previous owner was trying to mod but the consistent factor and trial error I’ve gone through leads me to believe since it’s clicking that is my issue. Can anyone help me finally complete this project and help me make this the most meaningful console I’ve ever owned?
  17. So I got a Halo Edition Xbox off of ebay to find that it only stays on for 20 minutes before shutting off, the power button does not function, naturally I thought of corrosion on the traces. Upon examining the underside of the board I found no visible corrosion, my question is, which traces do I need to jump in order to fix it? I'm a bit stumped, any help would be much appreciated.
  18. As the title states I am repairing and modding a green 1.6v Halo edition xbox. This console was my wife's and we have had it in our closet for years. I decided to pull it out and see if this thing works for her to play as she refuses to play my PC or xbox one. She doesn't enjoy the new games as I do and wants to play older games she used to play as a child. As of now I have broken down the console and thoroughly cleaned it. I removed the heatsinks and removed all the old thermal paste and replaced it with noctua NT-H1, which is what I use in my PC builds. I noticed that the 5 capacitors closest to the CPU are all bulging and need to be replaced, so I ordered those. For mods, as of this moment I will be installing the Openxenium chip with the LPC rebuild board. I want to install a 2Tb hard drive and I know I'll have to upgrade the IDE cable and ad an adapter. Can someone add part numbers for the cable and adapter. I'll be using the WD Blue 5400 rpm drive for this. I have not made up my mind on BIOS and want to play around with several to find the one I know my wife can use with no problems. If anyone has some suggestions on BIOS let me hear them. Last I want to add some RGB lighting to the build, nothing crazy just a nice soft glow is what I'm shooting for. Not sure where to hook up to power and guess I'll have to search for some power pinouts and such. I would love to see some of your builds with lighting to get some ideas. Anyway I will be taking everyone along this journey as I build and learn this console. Any and all advice is greatly appreciated and I look forward to talking to and learning from you guys.
  19. Hello everyone! Over the course of these few months, I've had a lot of time to think, and I was going over a bunch of Original Xbox Special Edition Concepts that I could do, and my mind went straight to Mountain Dew. The OG Mountain Dew had an Opaque case, it was a simple color, and it was unique enough to garner it's status as probably my favorite Xbox Special Edition. There is, however, one problem that I noticed with the Mountain Dew special edition though, and it's that there are many flavors of Mountain Dew! So, with my imaginative mind, I whipped up something in Photoshop, which'll be visible below. My goal is to TSOP IND-Bios onto it, give the RAM upgrade, and do the usual 2TB HDD upgrade, among other less-visible hardware mods. Right now, I'm trying to source the top shell for an Xbox, so I can't go on with the project until I find a good deal on one. But, in the meanwhile, feast your eyes on this sticker:
  20. Looking for help with my modded Xbox. I had this done by someone (can’t remember who) back in 2005/2006 and I haven’t started it up in over 5 years. I have tried a lot of button combos and it won’t boot up. It won’t even boot up in regular mode either. No matter what I do it turns on then Immediately shuts back off. It is a Halo edition with the X3 and control panel like the one pictured above. Any help would be appreciated. Also looking for recommendations for someone that could repair it if necessary. 7253D5C9-ED2A-4D4D-A5B4-E6A12DBFF7CE.mov
  21. Hello. I am currently looking to swap my XCM Crystal Pure White edition case, I got this in a deal with a friend and while it may have some marks on the top shell, its able to be refurbished and cleaned up I am really only looking for a 128mb RAM Xbox currently to finish off my arcade machine xbox build, and only looking for potential interest in Australia as that saves me money on postage. Will also come with a 1.6b motherboard with stock hard drive and dvd drive, will be softmodded before shipping, thanks!
  22. Hey All, I just recently fired up my original Xbox to play some Mercenaries or Ninja Gaiden Black but it appears that the drive will not read the game disks. These disks are near perfect condition and the drive itself will read audio cds. I am at a loss on how to troubleshoot this issue. The Xbox I have is a the Special Edition Halo Green Xbox. I am at this point considering modding this system but I would rather do that to an ebay system instead. I do have the original Splinter Cell with some saved games on it, so if I could get the Xbox to launch that game I could in theory softmod it. But launching the game is a problem. Suggestions? - Thanks. -
