I think its a good idea to have a thread with all of the 3d printable parts listed here so that others can find them easily. I'll start by adding my own creations, here is a replacement CPU/GPU bracket. Hey OGXbox community! I recently fired up my old original Xbox and I’m thinking about upgrading the hard drive so I can load games, emulators, and maybe explore more homebrew options. I’ve come across a few tutorials online, but a lot of the info seems outdated or inconsistent. Before I start, I wanted to ask here what’s the most reliable method these days for swapping the HDD? I’m looking at using a SATA drive with an IDE adapter, but I’d love to hear what’s working best for folks right now. Also, will a softmod be enough, or is a modchip still the way to go? Side note: I’ve been going through some Alteryx Training for work lately and it really got me into that “tinkering and optimizing” mindset — figured now's the perfect time to revisit the Xbox modding scene! Would really appreciate any advice, tips, or trusted guides you guys recommend. Glad to be here with fellow OG Xbox fans! Thanks, joloh

So, I have had my Xbox basically my entire life. So, It's had a bit of a run. It's currently completely unmodified. Lately, though, I have been having a few problems with it. 1) Ty the Tasmanian Tiger 2: Bush Rescue played perfectly fine, and loaded quite fast, but it had issues with FMVs. 2) Robots did not load at all. I thought the disk had decayed, but now I am not so sure. 3) Spongebob: Battle for Bikini Bottom ran Okay, but dialogue audio would start a second or so later than it should. 4) A known working copy of Halo 2 that I had played a few months ago can no longer be read. THis is what tipped me off to the possibility that it could be the optical drive. Are these symptoms of a dying disk reader? If so, what should I replace it with? Is it finally time to hard mod my beloved xbox to give it a longer life? Side note: Is it normal for the picture to be weirdly dark when adapted from the video output to HDMI? I have heard of old consoles like this having capacitor issues with the display out after some time; could that happen to the Xbox?

Hi all! I've noticed dashboard and emulator skins for the original Xbox have slowly started to disappear and the few links you can find are those crappy Mega links with the ad assaults. SO, I decided to start and add an original Xbox Skin Archive to my site and host downloads for them for free to all! You can see it here: https://www.tinker-mods.com/original-xbox-skin-archive/index.php I took the liberty of getting screens shots of everything so you can browse them and just download the ones you like the best. Everything is in 7z (7zip) file format and ready to install in the skin directory of your dashboard/emulator after you extract it! Right now I have a little over 50 skins I've added but would love to add more. ESPECIALLY IF YOU HAVE EMULATOR SKINS PLEASE!!! If you do have any you would also like to submit for me to add then you can go here and contact me : https://www.tinker-mods.com/contact.php Lastly for the skins I do have if you know who made them let me know that as well so I can add proper credits to the creators! If you are a skin maker yourself I would love to add your work to this archive too! Just keep in mind I won't automatically add everything, such as inappropriate themes, etc. Anyways I hope people enjoy this!

New user here, so my apologies if I've posted this in the wrong sub-forum. What is the best utility boot disk for an (modded) original XBox, please? So that if your Xbox won't boot because of a problem with the hard drive, then you can download and burn a disc image containing things like an XBox file manager, a utility to lock/unlock the hard drive, (re)-install a specfic dashboard (such as Evo-X), etc. Then put this disk in your XBox, boot up, and you then get access to the utilities so you can fix the problem just using the botable utilities disc. I vaguely remember Slayers and Hexen, but not enough to decide which to use now, plus there might be better or more useful such utility discs nowadays. So what would anyone recommend please? Also, another question, if you'll allow me. Say you have a working original XBox, and it boots up from hard drive properly, to a working dashboard, and you can then load your games and emulator from hard drive. Basically, everything is working fine. But you want to try a different dashboard, then if you were to copy everything from the XBox's partition to a temporary folder on the, say, F: drive, such as: F:\XBMC_bootup_C_partition then if you installed a different dashboard, tried it, and didn;t like it, and wanted to go back to the original, XBMC dashboard, then if you just deleted everything from the partition, and copied every file back from the 'F:\XBMC_bootup_C_partition' folder back into the partition then would the XBox be returned to it's former boot-up state, and everything would work properly, as before? Thanks for any answers.

This is my last post and I will consider replacing the hard drive, but will a bad hard drive cause the game disc to not load properly at all? The only issue I be having is that when I start project Gotham racing two it won’t let me skip, but once it gets to the second part of the intro it’ll freeze until I restart the console and then start the game up again and then it’ll let me skip The in game radio and stuff will also cut out So I just wanna know y’all opinion that well a bad heart drive cause that’s even though I have the original game disc

Hello Everyone I am new to the community and need some guidance in restoring and modding an original Xbox for a nostalgia gaming project. I recently discovered my old Xbox; which I had not used in years; and I am delighted to bring it back to life; both for nostalgic reasons and to revisit some of the great games that were a significant part of my growing up. My goal is to restore the console to full functionality while also adding some changes to maximize its capabilities. Restoration Process It is turning on; but the electricity occasionally cuts out at random. I've read of potential power supply or capacitor concerns with earlier models. Do you have any experience replacing capacitors on the original Xbox? Are there any common failure points to look out for? The disk drive is having trouble reading game discs consistently. Is it worth attempting to fix or clean the lens, or should you hunt for a replacement drive? Any tips for cleaning and polishing the casing without breaking the original hardware? The surface bears some scrapes and marks from years of use. Modding for Enhanced Functionality: I have read about both alternatives; but I am not sure which is better suited to my goals. I do not need anything too complicated; I am just interested in running backup games and emulators. Which modification solution do you recommend for a simple and hassle free experience? I have heard that increasing the hard drive is one of the best tweaks you can do to the original Xbox. Are there any hard disks you recommend that are both suitable and trustworthy for this purpose? I am considering installing a bigger drive so that I may store games and movies directly on the console. I've seen some excellent footage of early Xboxes running emulators for various old systems. What is the best method to put this up; and which emulators would you recommend? Any recommendations for improving the performance of these emulators on original Xbox hardware? Controller Recommendations: My old controllers are really worn out. Are there any new alternatives that feel as good or better than the original Duke or S-type controllers? Or would it be preferable to restore the ones I already own? Also I explored some topics related to this https://www.ogxbox.com/forums/index.php?/topic/16385-xbox-14-aladdevopsonlinetraining-xt-plus2-cerbios-242-frag-falshing-green-orange-no-video-output/#comment-75560 but I did not get the sufficient solution of my query so I would really want to get some help from a more experienced person I would like to hear from anyone who has gone through this procedure or has expertise modding and restoring early Xbox consoles. Any suggestions, resources, or tutorials would be highly appreciated. I am delighted to return to the Xbox scene and bring this ancient treasure back to life Thank you in advance for any help and advice you may provide.

Hi - having gotten the xbox original bug recently I have acquired a few original xbox consoles from friends and colleagues. I have a 1.0 that has a fan on the GPU so it's pretty noisey. I have a 1.6 and that can't be Tspoped and I don't have the skills required to add a chip. Today, a colleague gave me an xbox 1.1 - I opened it and checked to see if there was a fan on the GPU and there isn't - which is good in terms of noise. This also means that I can TSOP the 1.1. I have 3 or 4 more lying around in my attic that I collected over the years at car boot sales (mainly to get the games that came with them in bundle packs) - is there a particular model that I should look out for like the 1.1 seems to have the best of everything for me right now or am I wrong? Which version do you think is the best and why? Thanks in advance.

Hi, a friend recently gave me his old Original Xbox, and he told me that long ago (earlytwo thousand) he had modded it, but he doesn’t remember anything about how to make it work! When I turn it on, on the screen these inscriptions come out that in substance say: PHOENIX BIOS LOADER V1.4.1, PRESS A FOR SELECT YOUR BIOS! When I press ''A', this menu comes out where there are various files, which take me to a kind of alternative dashboard. Another thing I noticed, the console turns on with the eject button, and not with the power one, and always if I press the eject button while the console is turned on, it reboots! I would like to return it to its original state, but I have no idea how to do it... If you could help me, I would appreciate it very much. Thanks in advice! PS: inside the console I found this modchip, obviously I do not know what to do with it, maybe it can come useful.

Yesterday I was FTPing some emulators and apps and everything was going good, I would reboot every now and then for things to save. After I rebooted again now my hard drive doesn’t boot at all and the world xbox and xecuter 2 stay on the title screen and it just hangs there and freezes up, it keeps on happening, idk if I could fix it or if it’s even worth it to. Any help would be appreciated. This was a modded console I was gonna give to my brother, I didn’t mod it myself but would like to learn in the future how to. Thank you.

https://cyrix.ca/n-comm-w-modern-controller-on-ogxbox Went through the effort of testing this out as I know there are plenty of people wanting to play on Insignia, want to use a modern controller, but also want to be able to use in-game chat. This setup works and should give people a guide on how to get their own setup going.

Hello guys, I've tried to search for that kind topic, but did not find any similar. As I recently got my og xbox (already modded), I am not very familiar with all the option of this mod. My main question is - Is it possible to change modded xbox dashboard skin to original green one (like from the factory)? But to keep all the modded xbox perks like 720p+ resolution, hdd saved games etc. Basically just change the look of dashboard, cuz i dont really like that modded look

I booted up my Xbox with error code 13, I unplugged the power and plugged it back in and gave me error code 16. Is there any way I can save this Xbox without using another xbox?

I have this listed on ebay for $850 but would sell on Paypal or Venmo for $750 since I wouldn't have to pay fees. The CPU is upgraded to a 1.26 GHz Tualatin, but it overclocks to 1.42 GHz without issue. See ebay listing here: https://www.ebay.com/itm/335333381339

Hello guys. I'm happy to release new YouTube plugin for Original Xbox. Yes, it's now again possible to watch YouTube on this dated hardware. I'm using Invidious for fetching data from YouTube. Here is a video that shows this plugin in action. Some features of this plugin are: Trending Videos Popular Videos Searching Channel view Channel searching Subscribtions Import subscriptions from local YouTube account Suggested channels Suggested videos Limitations: Videos length - currently I don't understand how adaptive streams works and how to use them on Xbox. Because of that I'm using formated streams which means that whole video must be loaded in RAM memory. Because of that on Xboxes with 64MB RAM you can watch video of max 1 hour lenght and on 128MB RAM Xboxes videos of max 3 hours length. I hope I will fix this in the next release. Used of Gateway - OpenSSL 0.9.8 which is latest for our Xbox doesn't support newer versions of TLS encyption. Because there is no public Invidious instance that support older versions of TLS we must use simpe PC application that acts as a gateway between Xbox and Invidious. When I get time, I'll try to host my own Invidious instance that support older versions of TLS or even unencrypted HTTP. Keeping that in mind, when I host my own Invidious instance or someday someone host public instance that support older versions of TLS only one line in plugin code needs to be changed to remove dependence of PC Gateway. If you encouter any issues please open Issue at GitHub page. Video Preview Download Link Github Setup_Guide.pdf

Xbox2HDMI - Seamless HDMI Output for the Original Xbox!
electron-shepherd posted a topic in For Sale
Hello! After months of focusing primarily on the Nintendo Wii, the Electron Shepherd team has just released a new product that we are thrilled to share: the Xbox2HDMI module! This tiny, power-packed module takes in the Component video and digital audio output from the Original Xbox and outputs an HDMI signal with embedded Dolby Digital Surround Sound (if that audio setting is enabled in your Xbox’s settings). This module utilizes a fully custom PCB with a higher quality, next generation IC compared to what is typically used on the widely available Wii2HDMI and VGA2HDMI modules that are readily available online. If you are not happy with those modules, then you will absolutely be happy with these. This module efficiently supports the 480i, 720p, and 1080i resolutions that are default to the original Xbox. These units can be bought with ease on our store located here: https://electron-shepherd.com/xbox2hdmi/ Please let use know if you have any questions about this or any other product we currently offer! - Shane from Electron Shepherd LLC https://twitter.com/ElectronShep -
Hi guys. I am proud to release first version of my app for streaming movies and tv shows on Original Xbox. How this started, how this works and all informations you can find on attached file in this post or there Stream Movies & TV Shows. In attached file you also have in-detail tutorial how to setup everything. Currently you have basic funcionalities, but I have a plan throughout a year to implement much more but I don't make any promises. There are three main tasks that I have to do before anything else, and that would be: Implement support for Subtitles. By that I mean building addon/script for OpenSubtitles API After implementing subtitles, a HUGE code refactoring and organization need to be done because currently this is a MESS that somehow works, especially frontend of PC API And after code refactoring, I need to implement better algorithm for searching Movies and TV Shows For TV Shows most newer series don't have problem, but old series (ex. from 2010) are packed in one torrent file which represents one season, and my current algorithm only search querys im format "name s0xe0x" which for old series return no results or return episode which have only couple seeders For Movies search works good, but sometimes it gives wrong result. I will fix this in same way that Elementum addon for Kodi does. Find resulsts by name, name + year, tmdb id and imdb id, remove duplicates and sort by seeders. This seems easy but it's not. And after everything said above is done then I will slowly try do add new funcionalities to the fronted (i.e. all HTTP comands of XBMC4Xbox) GITHUB From here you can download and find newer releases IMAGES Indroduction_Setup_Guide.pdf

Hello, I have a modded original Xbox that has coin-ops 8 on it. I have a USB trackball and mouse that work perfectly for it on games like centipede and similar to that. I just recently bought a GRS USB spinner for it, but it doesn't recognize it. I've gone as deep in the settings as possible, but it still won't work. I've even sent the spinner back for a replacement thinking it must be a bad spinner, but it's still the same problem with the new one. But yet the cheap mouse I bought at Walmart for $8.00 works on the games perfectly. Does anyone know of a spinner out there that would work for my setup. I also saw a product called a Wingman XB that is supposed to let you use all sorts of modern PC and gaming controllers on the original Xbox. I can't find any info about it making any spinners work for it though. Can someone here help please? P.S. this GRS spinner is supposed to act like a USB mouse that just uses the horizontal axis.

I believe I seen a Reddit post couple days ago by KaosEngineer touching on this topic the post was sometime back, I'm wondering if it's practical today to even attempt or even flash an pc optical drive. I am aware that you can of course get parts from other consoles.. I asked this out of curiosity as I lack the information and experience on the topic.

I've been having this issue for a while, and I am not sure where to write about it. I mentioned it in a post a few years ago, but now have more information but it makes the whole thing even more baffling. I am using an Original v1.4 Xbox (Halo Green Edition) There are a handful of games that my Xbox just refuses to play, period. Originally, the only games I knew didn't work properly were Stubbs the Zombie, Psy-Ops and Hulk: Ultimate Destruction. They both would freeze at specific spots during the game, Stubbs during the "Don't do drugs" and Psy-Ops the final battle. Stubbs example - https://youtu.be/hO2w5w1KKFs With Stubbs, I tried it on my Xbox 360 and it worked perfectly without issue. So, I thought it was just a bad eye, or DVD-Drive. Drive picture - https://i.imgur.com/sMV3iMj.png I recently modded my system so that I could play Back-ups and preserve my discs, and low and behold...... the same issue is still happening.. even when played off HD, and there are more games! For example, with Stubbs.. I tried from disc, dvd2drive to play it off the HD, I went and got another disc from a local retro GameStore, and even found a back-up online to try out... and all freeze up exactly at that spot. Now I am finding other games with the same issue. Hulk: Total Destruction friezes when you start the game. Gauntlet Seven Sorrows freezes up after a few minutes of starting the game proper, it seems to be related to certain music tracks, but don't quote me. Once again, I've tried playing it on Disc, off HD, and even going out of my way to try a back-up I found on the net (both burned to DVD, and from HD) and it's the same results. Yet it works fine in my Xbox 360...... Seven Sorrows HardDrive - https://youtu.be/sE_dQsfw-lc Seven Sorrows DVD - https://youtu.be/xj8nMN3cLFY Seven Sorrows 360 - https://youtu.be/RdiYtq0Atyc (Runs with no issue) I did remove a bad clock/time capacitor as recommended. I am using the StarTech IDE2SATA with a 2TB Crucial SSD. Hardmodded my system with an open xenium chip. Here are some internal shots https://i.imgur.com/aAJkDMl.png https://i.imgur.com/qtmAh2x.png https://i.imgur.com/JzQEk8R.png https://i.imgur.com/llRixDK.png https://i.imgur.com/3IWYJ2N.png https://i.imgur.com/2ohDFWG.png https://i.imgur.com/MO0rsR9.png https://i.imgur.com/cf0opZT.png https://i.imgur.com/1VZ4Mez.png The High Voltage Capacitor on the PSU seems to reflect silver when I use the flash, so here's a better look at it. https://i.imgur.com/cdnAVqD.png https://i.imgur.com/Bm4ybuf.png So I want to know what is going on? Other games work just fine, I played through Robocop (2003) on my Xbox just last week with no issue and a few other games. Why do these handful of games crash, is it a bad chip? capacitor? Has anyone found an issue like this? Thank you all in advance!
