I have Original Xbox, I had it since it was released... recently I powered it up, HDD keeps on spinning like crazy and never stops. I got the green screen with "contact support". I pulled the HDD 20GB and tried to connect it to my desktop, the HDD spins with none stop, and the drive was not shown/recognized by my PC. I am not sure if I install a new IDE HDD would work/boot. I searched for Xbox OS/dashboard to download so that I can install on the new HDD, it seems that I only need to install the HDD, and the Xbox will load from the build-in eprom/chip. Please correct me if I understood wrong
Hi All, I found many different informations about the CheapLPC MOD (CheapMOD) and I try to install it to v1.4 and v1.6 versions. But I think I made a mistake or something else the problem, that is why I have questions. This was the first step. eurasia.nu cheapmod (web archive). I used it to create the PCB. SST 49LF020A in it. Flashed with evox.m8.v16.bin (256KB). The question, is there any REAL and usable diagram to soldering and wiring it in any version of xbox? Can I use the mentioned bios version? I would like to use the PCB version of CheapMOD, not the wired one. Thanks for any help!
Hi Mates, I met the following issue, I try to explain everything... I'm totally lost in space, so I hope, you have some idea what happening... So, first, what you have to know: - I've got an xbox classic v1.6 without video and sound output. - When opened it, I found a MuppetX modchip in it. My friend inform me, he try to flash this modchip, but 1MB always gave an error message "mismatch bios size", so he flashed it with 256KB bios. That was the mistake of him, so the modchip never works again... (The LPC Chip is 49LF020A, like in Aladdin) - I flashed it with USB Programmer with many types of bios.bin, tried 256, 512, 1024 evom8+ for v1.6, I tried everything to use it again... But the only working solution was to flash it with 4*256kb = 1MB XBlast OS bios. But when I use XBlast NET bios flasher (cause I can't use any other way, just USB programmer), the flashed bios never works. - I checked all capacitors and all of them is in good conditon... I checked traces and all of them in good condition. - When I push (more than 5 sec) the power button, the xbox started and loaded the XBlast OS. Without modchip (power up with eject or just push power button) there is no video or sound output. If I change the Bank (I do not know is it bank0 or bank1), the Xbox turn off and turn on again... My questions: - Is there anyone who has an original dump of a MuppetX bios? - Which is the Bank0 and Bank1 on MuppetX? - Which BIOS size the correct for that? (As I said, I try 1MB first and all other sizes, but won't work...) - Why Xbox doesn't give video and sound output without modchip? Is it maybe an EEPROM error?... Thank you in advance! BR, Zsolt ps: I red this topic: but do not help
Hi guys, I recently attempted an Aladdin XT plus modchip install on my xbox V1.0. Other then trying to suck out the solder from the LPC ports, the process was relatively smooth. When I first went to boot the box, the Aladdin instantly smoked hard so I it off. At the moment I'm trying to figure out whether it was my install error or a faulty chip. When I remove the chip and boot the xbox, it boots fine and normal. As soon as I add the chip back on, which doesn't smoke anymore, the xbox FRAGS. I tested the LPC pins and didnt get any continuity between ones I shouldnt have. I then tested to make sure the 5 and 3,3 voltages were still good and they were. I was gonna test each individual pin and see if maybe Im seeing 5V/3.3V where I shouldnt, but other then that I'm not sure if it was the install, but instead just a faulty chip. I bought it from Modchipcentral and I've gotten good stuff from them before. Any input would be appreciated. Thanks
A friend gave me back the xbox I made for him years ago. I want to update it for my grankids. It is chipped with an xecuter 2, is a version 1.6, and currently has an ancient 150GB hdd. Primarily, I want to put in a new HDD, planning on a 500GB, and use a Startech SATA/IDE adapter with an 80 wire cable. Then I want to add Coinops, and XBMC; the XBMC primarily for karaoke. Also a decent dash, thinking probably the last UnleashX. I have copied all the contents onto a drive via ftp. I am confused as to how to 1) install the new hdd and 2) how to install the dash/apps. From what I read on the wiki and elsewhere, supposedly, I can just install the drive, boot, and the xecuter wizard should walk me through formatting the drive. I assume that then I can put in the Hexen disk and it will install the dash's. Is this right? My xbox modding days are long behind me (even the 360 mod days, lol). Any help is appreciated.
