About Me

  1. I'm new to modding and basically have near zero computer knowledge. I downloaded and unpacked Eartwormjames's 212 pack and I'm a little lost on where to put everything. I'm running the Rocky5 emustation and have a few roms sets running, but the 212 pack is giving me a headache. I'm using filezilla and have moved the roms from the roms folder to the n64 roms folder on my xbox, they are recognized but I get black screen when trying to launch a game. I'm assuming the surreal6.0 needs placed somewhere, or that maybe the 212 pack needs placed somewhere as a whole? Any help, as always, would be greatly appreciated. Going from no computer experience to the xbox mod has been a pretty steep learning curve.
  2. Any straight-forward guides to modding an Xbox w/o a specific game?
  3. I've actually seen a few people talking about this all ready here and on facebook but just wanted to share it for those who haven't. A full tutorial on how to install a custom LCD screen in your original Xbox (NON-X3) that has a temperature monitor so you can constantly see what temp your console is running at to help prolong the lifespan and keep things cool! You can see it on my website by clicking the link below: Tutorial on how to install an LCD screen in your original Xbox console
  4. just saying hi, and came looking for some skins. i have a bit of modding experience in general jut not og xbox specialized. i was bigger into the 360 scene but i do still have an x3 og xbox and a tsop 1.0. that currently has a dead lan port.
  5. Hi All Ive just joined this forum - xbox forever Well the sad part is that my old modded xbox hangs on error 16. So I have to replace HD(I/O error when plugged into ubuntubox). Kindly Quxen
  6. So I was wondering if this was possible. I remember MANY years ago when I was a kid fucking up my xbox dash and fixing it by transferring a softmodded E/C by Xplorer360. Would this work on a virgin xbox? To be clear: hotswap virgin xbox hdd to PC, open in xplorer 360, transplant softmodded C/E, boot xbox (should boot into unleashx). I swear I remember doing this to an xbox with a broken disk drive too. Does anyone know for a fact? It seems 10x easier than Ndure and shit. Also if anyone has a tutorial for modding an xbox with only IDE PC please let me know. thanks also if someone could upload their softmodded E/C from a PAL xbox or if it doesnt matter either. excluding emulators/games etc etc of course
  7. Hi all, glad to be here. I'm a long time games fan and recently decided to look into modding some of my old consoles.. Great community you have here and I look forward to learning more about how the Xbox works!
  8. Hi gang, Thank you for this forum, I have not touched the xbox at all, just got myself a unit at a good will store. I am dying to findout how much can be done with it, what the upgrades are. Fun times ahead. M.
  9. Hey everyone, just recently got back into console modding after not touching a console in 10 years. Back then I primarily messed with 360's for my friends and anyone willing to pay me. Now I am more interested in building for myself to have "The Ultimate System". Excited about learning how the scene has developed over the years and finding this community. I assume like most here, I am a gamer. I can't seem to stop playing EverQuest 2 (13 years) and I play various shooters and single player "play through" games. In time I am sure I will have loads of questions and will look for feedback on ideas. Thus far I have 3 OG Xboxs and have TSOP'd one of them but havent really done much else. Glad to be here. Happy Modding!
  10. I rebuilt the LPC port on my Xbox v1.6 today and had kind of a tough time with it, so I'm curious what everyone else uses to mod their consoles; type of wire, flux, solder, soldering iron/station, soldering tip, soldering temperature, cleaning solution, etc. I used some 30AWG wire-wrapping wire from Amazon, an Aoyue 937+ with the fine tip that came with it, RadioShack rosin flux paste, and RadioShack 62/36/2 rosin-core solder. I've soldered quite a few 0.1" headers on microcontroller and FPGA development kits with great success, but their pads were like twice as thick as those on the Xbox's LPC port. I had a hell of a time getting the pads to heat so that the solder would flow nicely. I also ended up burning the solder mask in a couple of places where I left the tip on too long trying to get the pads heated. Fortunately it still seems to work, but the joints look pretty bad. I think part of the problem was the fine solder tip, but I didn't have much luck with a chisel tip either.
