  1. Don't have a tutorial for either. They both seem very self-explanatory to me. Update: As supplied, you need to be running a 64-bit version of Windows. And, the hard drive has to be connected to the PC using a compatible/supported USB-to-HDD interface adapter. Copy your Xbox's eeprom.bin file into the folder where you extract either version of XboxHDM23USB. Run the startup batch file, xboxhd.bat. Menu Options 1. List drives connected 2. Launch xboxhdm 3. Lock hard drive 4. Unlock hard drive 5. Check Lock Status (only available in Beta 3) Use option 1 to make sure the software recognizes that the drive you plan to use for the Xbox HDD is connected. Next, Launch xboxhdm. Once, QEMU finishes booting Linux, type in xboxhd to start the preparation process of the Xbox HDD. Follow the onscreen menu to prepare a new HDD. The software will format the hard drive for the Xbox and copy the files stored in the C and/or E drives on the PC. Beta 2 requires adding the MS Dashboard files into the hdm/c folder while Beta 3 comes preconfigured to install a no-original-game-disc-required softmod installer, add no files to it's HDD_files/c folder. After formatting and copying files to C and/or E if its a larger HDD than 8GBs, you will be prompted to format the extended partitions. After formatting, exit back to the main menu and lock the hard drive. Check the lock status then exit XboxHDM23USB. Install the hard drive into your Xbox.
  2. Edit the BIOS settings with EVTool v1.0.9, save the updated BIOS dot bin file and reflash. What dashboard are you using? Some like XBMC change the setting such that it will remain in use after starting a different app (game). While with UnleashX once UnleashX exits and the new app (game) starts, the BIOS's setting will be used. Or, vice versa.
  3. Most likely not. V1.9 requires the Xbox HDD to be connected as Primary MASTER on a native IDE port. XboxHDM23USB Beta 2 or 3 can be used to build an Xbox HDD on newer hardware and OSes (Windows 7-10). The hard drive to be connected to the PC via a supported USB-to-HDD interface (be that IDE, SATA or a combination of both) adapter. 3.5" HDDs require using a power supply be it external or connecting it to a PC's spare Molex drive power connector since USB cannot provide enough power for them.

  5. Looks like you have a 1.6 version of the Halo edition. Check for a mounting post below the serial number sticker on the bottom of the console. (Since the case is translucent, you can see through it to note the absence or presence of the mount.) (https://imgur.com/a/HM6PU) If it's a 1.6, the SMD transistor between the Xyclops chip and clock cap most likely needs to be replaced. To test and fix, watch Floydzabarber's YouTube video titled: Original Xbox version 1.6 won't power on fix.

  7. Saving settings is different than saving game state - progress thus far in the game. I'm not sure if emulators can save a per game setup.

  9. You could try adding delays into the font loading. When the console boots properly, run the NKPatcher Settings app and change the number of delays. Reboot and see if it starts consistently booting into the dashboard. If not, add another delay.   10. The newer version makes swapping the DVD and new HDD easier. Download and use the updated version of Chimp, 261812, from Rocky5's github repository. The application itself is in the E Partition subfolder.

  14. XBMC4Xbox, XBMC4Gamers (pre-built) or source repository and XBMC-Emustation have skin(s) and/or scripts to use game artwork. Most replacement dashboards don't have as sophisticated a skinning engine to provide for displaying artwork. UnleashX's XvGM skin provides for a unique implementation of providing game artwork, synopsis and preview video.
  15. Are the games the PAL version or NTSC version? I don't have a PAL system in the States. I'm not sure if that matters though. From what I understand, there are some PAL games that only run in PAL mode - low resolution 480i or 576i not any progressive mode once switched to NTSC mode. But, again I have no PAL console to try so don't take my word for it.
  16. Many Xbox games run at 480p others 720p and a very few at 1080i (not recommended to enable 1080i). To play any game at a higher resolution than 480i, you have to use a high-definition AV pack or component cable. Once connected, the higher resolutions can be enabled in the MS Dashboard's Video Settings menu. If you have a PAL console, it has to be modded and switched to NTSC mode as the higher-resolutions are not available when operating in PAL video mode.

  18. XVM, they are dot xmv files - the game's video preview. The skin itself is 2MB's of files to store in UnleashX's Skins folder - in a subfolder for example: XVGM - either the extract content or as a zip file. The Skin doesn't have to be extracted to load. However, the files cannot be in a sub-subfolder as they are in the XVGM (US).zip I've seen. WIll need to look again at the large archives file structure. Extracted content saved in UnleashX's Skins/XVGM/ folder Videos/ background.png filemanager.jpg filemanager.png Impact_12.xpr loading.png mp.png 1mp_Buttons.png mp_pl.png Skin.xml Skin.xml.temp (not necessary old backup file of Skin.xml. It can be deleted.) Splash.jpg Place the dot xmv preview video files into the Videos subfolder shown above. However, it is not required that these files are stored there. They can go in each game's subfolder too. One folder to find all the preview videos or many different folders to browse to. It's up to you where they are stored. Either way, each game/app/emulator's menu listing has to be edited to add the path to the preview video to be played.
  19. No tutorials that I've seen. You have to have menu editing enabled in the settings and go to each game/app listed in their associated menu to set the preview video to use for each one. What are some of the png filenames? The Xbox only supports 42 characters including the .png extension so only 38 in the remainder of the name. Also not all characters are allowed, the list of allowed characters is: ABCDEFGHIJKLMNOPQRSTUVWXYZabcdefghijklmnopqrstuvwxyz0123456789!#$%&'()-.@[]^_`{}~ (that includes the space character shown after the tilde)

  22. Patched to run from HDD works from either F or G drive. They are both partitions running the game off the hard drive.
  23. Depends on the dashboard and skin you use. XBMC-Emustation with it's built-in downloader to install them is the easiest way.
  24. ReDump are to be complete data extractions of the dual-layer DVD game discs. ~8.5GBs generally 6.xGB's compressed files. XISO dot ISO image files are the XDVDFS game file content of the dual layer DVD original media. What you see when you FTP into a modded console and browse the D:\ drive (DVD drive) of the Xbox.
