  1. Possible with a very limited number of PC DVD models. Samsung SD-616T or F (not E versions). They require hardware modifications - eject tray motor direction reversal - and wiring to the Xbox's power and control (all yellow) cable and flashing the SDG-605B firmware to them. Then, the Xbox case has to be modified to make it fit. Similar changes for LG GDR-8163B or GDR-8164B. You don't have to do the eject tray motor direction reversal on these PC DVD drives - easy peasy. Ha!
  2. Yes. That's how the clock cap leaks. Out the bottom next to the printed circuit board instead of the vent on the top.
  3. What app did you use to write the compressed Origins image file to the hard drive? I still think that the Origins image has no softmod installed. You are to use a modchip that will run C:\evoxdash.xbe. But, there are some hints that the Origins image was from a softmodded console: the C drive (Partition 3 in Xplorer360) has the nkpatcher and Do not touch any... (can't see all the name as the column is too narrow for it to fit) folders. But, these folders could simply be leftovers before the softmod was removed.
  4. To install a replacement dashboard, you need to boot a modified Xbox Installer disc (e.g., Slayers, Hexen, etc.) and install one. Or, at least look at the files in the root of the C drive with a File Explorer from one of these installer discs. HeXEn is built around UnleashX which includes a File Explorer. Slayers uses Evoxdash which has no built-in file explorer but the installer disc should have one accessible to view the drive's content.
  5. X2 BIOS 4979.06. It is not the latest Team Xecuter X2 256KB BIOS available but it has the clock fix in it; thus, the reason you don't get asked to set the time when booting with the modchip enabled. 4981.[06 or 67] or 4983.[06 or 67] are the last two releases. 4983 can't have its settings modified with XBtool as you can with 4981. From what I've read, Team Xecuter encrypted it differently than the previous version. Guess the author of XBTool never figured out what was different to be able to modify it. Using XBTool v1.0.20 to edit X2 4979.67 BIOS settings. XBTool v1.0.23a required to edit X2 4981's settings.
  6. There are a few DOS emulators you can try: Bochs x86 v1 DOSXbox 286/386 v10 and DOSXbox 4.0-HCL all available at digiex.net's Xbox emulators download center. (No signup required to download them from there.)
  7. It takes a long power button press to enable the modchip (> 1 second). Edit: I read all to see you found that out. What BIOS/kernel version is it booting? Go to the MS dashboard's Settings > System Info menu and wait until the end of the scroller before it repeats. There are two values displayed at the end: D : 1.00.DDDD.01 (DDDD = MS dashboard version) and K: 1.00.KKKK.LL (KKKK = kernel version and LL = LBA48 configuration settings). Edit: Can't get to appear as D and colon next to each other. I had to add a space between them. The site is always converting them to an emoji. Report back with your findings.
  8. Check the DVD drive's power and control cable. The 12 wire, all yellow insulation, cable that attaches to the motherboard and DVD drive. Make sure there are no loose or broken wires or bent pins in the connector bodies. Disconnect and reseat both ends.
  9. Heretic is named xHeretic. Wolfenstein's release Wolfenstein 3D is there too but the port has no sound. There are 83 homebrew game releases available from emuxtras.net's Homebrew ports download section. Many emulators are also available from a different sections of their downloads area.
  10. There's the homebrew game: Doom-X Version: 2.0 This port is of "Doom-X" to the Xbox by Carcharius, LikkleBaer. Plays the following WAD files: Doom (retail version) Doom (shareware version) Doom II Ultimate Doom Final Doom: TNT Evilution Final Doom: Plutonia Exp. 152.37mb Available from emuxtras.net Downloads section. Signup for a free account there to gain access.
  11. There's a Python script for XBMC4Xbox. It comes with XBMC4Gamers. https://github.com/Rocky5/XBMC4Gamers/tree/master/Mod Files/system/scripts/XBMC4Gamers Extras/XISO to HDD Installer XISO to HDD Installer Script by Rocky5 Used to prep an XISO so it can be played from the Xbox HDD. It also extracts images and the xbe header so trainers work. Original script by headphone - http://www.emuxtras.net/forum/viewtopic.php?f=187&t=3228&start=40#p70178
  12. You are talking about two different types of ISO files. There are Redump certified dual-layer DVD archival dumps that are an exact duplicate of all data and filler on the two layers of the original game disc media and XISO disc images which only contain the game's file set - the XDVDFS portion of the original game disc (a small portion of the ReDump disc images). The XISO disc images do not contain all the filler and video partition of an original game disc. Both use dot iso for their file extension but they are two completely different types of disc images.
  13. The modchip you have supports connection to an character-based LCD module. It uses the Lattice LC4064V CPLD (Complex Programmable Logic Device) instead of the LC4032V CPLD which has half the programmable macrocells - 32 vs 64.
  14. You don't need to do anything with D0 leave it as is (LFRAME). Disconnect the wire from the BT pad on the modchip as well as the other end by the front panel connector. Add a new short wire to connect the BT pad on the modchip to ground (pin 2) of the quick solder section - the pad closest to the LCD contrast potentiometer.
  15. Are those images of the content for the original softmodded hard drive or the new 2TB Origins installed drive? Partition 0 is X, partition 1 is Y, partition 2 is Z, partition 3 like you said is C, partition 4 is E and partition 5 is F. Looks like it's not reading G which should be partition 6 in Xplorer360. Xplorer360's partition numbers are different than the standard Xbox numbering for them (device name): C = 2 (/device/Harddisk0/Partition2) E = 1 (/device/Harddisk0/Partition1) X = 3 (/device/Harddisk0/Partition3) Y = 4 (/device/Harddisk0/Partition4) Z = 5 (/device/Harddisk0/Partition5) F = 6 (/device/Harddisk0/Partition6) G = 7 (/device/Harddisk0/Partition7)
  16. I believe that 2TB Origins disc image is configured for a hard modded console. It does not have a softmod installed. It should be booting to the MS dashboard as long as the MS dashboard is installed but without knowing what files are on the C drive of the disc after installing the 2TB image it's hard to assist you any further. Can you obtain and post a directory listing of the files and folders in the root directory of the C drive?
  17. The attach app can mount mutli-part iso images. I've never had to use it to do so. The disc images it supports are XISO format, not archival Redump-certified dual-layer disc images. You can rip a game with DVD2Xbox to ISO format. If it requires a file larger than 4GBs - FATX max file size limitation - for the ripped dot iso, it will create mutliple files that the attach app will mount as one large disc image. To the Xbox, It looks like the real game disc is loaded in the DVD drive. There's also an isoripper app included in the driveimageutils archive. Check UnleashX's System > Settings > AutoLaunch Settings.
  18. I don't have an Xecuter 2.3B Lite plus with pogo pins but I suspect the pin header on it may be a direct connection to the pogo pins. I believe it was used to connect to an external programmer so they may not be. Hard to find specifics on it. the only installation instructions released by Team Xecuter were for doing the pogo pin install that's how the chip was built. You could solder a wire to the top of each pogo pin and solder it to the associated pin of the LPC Debug header port on the motherboard. Where and how do you plan to locate the modchip so it doesn't make an electrical contact with something it should not. What version Xbox? If a 1.6, it was not intended to be installed in one. There was no 1.6 Xbox when it was released. An LPC rebuild is required and most likely an LFRAME# trace cut by the Xyclops chip which will disable booting from the the stock BIOS. And, D0 connection to ???.
  19. You need the attach app, attach.xbe, from NKPatcher's driveimageutils-v1.0.1.zip (attached below). You rename the attach.xbe file to default.xbe and place a copy of it in the subfolder with the dot iso file. You also need to edit the internal XBE Title of that default.xbe file for the item to appear with the name you want displayed in the Games menu. The folder name the files in has nothing to do with the name displayed in the menu. It's the TItle stored inside the default.xbe file that is used to populate the text of the menu. Use UnleashX's File Explorer's select menu option Rename XBE TItle to do so. Browse to the copy of the attach apps copy named default.xbe so the filename is highlighted in the explorer window then press the Start or White button for the Select menu to appear. D-pad up to Rename XBE TItle and press A. Use the onscreen keyboard to edit the name and save the new XBE Title. See: https://imgur.com/9CbLEtL Reboot or refresh the top-level Games menu (Press Start, use the D-pad to highlight Refresh List... then press A.) Edit: the attach.xbe file is small, 6.76KBs, so I've attached it. There are more tools in the driveimageutils archive linked above so you may want to download it. attach.xbe MD5 Hash: E658735E0A533D2A9F5DFB60B8334FC7 attach.xbe
  20. You're selection of which BIOS to use depends somewhat on which version of Xbox you have. There's no ind-bios release for 1.6 Xboxes or 256KB in size X2 BIOSes. For them you have two choices for the latest released xbox modified BIOSes to use with the OpenXenium or any other modchip that supports a 512KB BIOS bank size: X2 5035 16 (requires a 512KB BIOS bank to use - which the OpenXenium supports), or Evox m8plus_16 (256KB Bank size required that every re-flashable modchip supports). There's a wider selection of BIOSes available for v1.0-1.5 consoles: 256KB BIOSes X2 4983.[06 or 67] X2 4981.[06 or 67] Evox M8plus (LBA48 patch settings 06 or 67 configured with EVTool v1.0.9) iND-BiOS.5003.67 (don't use .06 version or inject a configuration file into the BIOS) iND-BiOS.Beta.Feb-11-05.67 , a.k.a. 5004 (don't use the .06 version or inject a configuration file into the BIOS) 512KB BIOS X2 5035
  21. You can boot the stock BIOS by adding the TSOP as the source in the Launch Items menu. Oh wait, you can't use the controller to add that BIOS to the Launch Items or even select it if it had already been added. I'd try what you were thinking of doing. Disconnect the modchip from the LPC pin header and see what happens.
  22. Which AV cable are you using? Is your console a PAL or NTSC region console?
  23. You can have two hard drives but only one powered at a time. The Xbox requires the DVD drive to boot properly.
  24. Here are three such games. Toca Race Driver 2 True Crime: New York Enter the Matrix I don't recall if there are any more games that used this method to prevent modders from installing their game to the Xbox's hard drive.
  25. It's not the name of the game, some are very long, but the name of the files stored on the hard drive. Some games have files with names too long for the hard drive's FATX filesystem (>42 characters - include the dot and characters of the extension in the count). The DVD filesystem has no such filename length restriction. Thus, mounting an XISO with the attach app does not either. To the Xbox, the mounted disc image appears to be a disc loaded into the DVD drive.
