  1. I downloaded a redump from Vimms, and black screen again, but I've made progress today. I've learned it only black screens when I have 'enable Internet time sync' enabled in 4Gamers. This forces my clock to turn back 1 hour, and the game doesn't like an invalid time setting. I loaded the game 5 times in a row, worked great, enabled time sync, black screen, disabled time sync, game works again. Transferred my original CCI game files back and deleted the Vimms lair one, same thing, only works with time sync disabled. Also, after enabling time sync and disabling it again, I have to launch a few random games to the main menus before Crimson will work on its own repeatedly. Once the game loads though, it works fine over and over until time sync is enabled again. I just noticed that accessing the Game Demos portion of the game, and trying to back out to the main menu, black screens as well. Relaunching the game black screens, and I have to load a random game, restart, load Crimson, in order to keep playing Crimson again.
  2. I forgot to put in my post, but I've tried UX that's installed by Destinys disc, same issue. I deleted XBMC4Gamers just now and reinstalled a fresh copy off his extras disc, and still wouldn't load the game. But after trying those few games for OP, I loaded Crimson and it loaded just fine, with ethernet attached, twice. I unplugged ethernet, reset xbox, and black screen again. Manually selecting the default.xbe in file manager has the same issue.
  3. I tested these games on my 2TB Cerbios softmod and they all load to the main menus. WD20EZBX, Startech adapter, 80 wire, UDMA 5, CCI. I haven't tested all my games yet, but I'm having trouble with Crimson Skies not loading. It either goes to a black screen, or the load screen appears with the skull at the bottom, and the arrows around the skull rotate a few degrees and then the system hangs. I think my issue is related to an incorrect time/date, as 4Gamers wont set the right time. I downloaded a fresh redump off Archive and it wouldn't play either extracted or CCI. This is what XBP v1.3 shows when formatted through FatX.
  4. Instead of either pressing Eject/Power to decide what to boot to, you hold one of up to 8 buttons on the controller. Dashloader is installed by default on Rocky's softmod, and can be installed on a hardmod. I use it to boot to the MS Dash, UnleashX, and Emustation, while XBMC4Gamers is default.
  5. I've made some progress, but it went back to not working again. I thought it may have something to do with keeping time, as I've noticed the past month or so, XBMC4Gamers doesn't show the correct time. Aero's post got me thinking to manually change the time, and the game finally loaded to the menu. I rebooted and it black screened again. The MS Dash displays the correct time/date, but 4Gamers wont automatically update. It's been an hour off for a while now, but I thought nothing off it. I have Language set to English (US), Region is USA, Daylight Savings enabled, connected to pool.ntp.org. Does anyone else display incorrect times when connected to a time server? What server should I pick, if this isn't the right one? If manually setting the time allowed the game to finally load once, but never again, is there a theory that I can pursue?
  6. I attempted dual boot a while ago, but found out about Dashloader soon after, and never got dual boot working. Are you familiar with Dashloader, or just prefer Dual Boot?
  7. Sorry, Cerbios Boot From Media, yes.
  8. I've been trying some CCI games with BFM Cerbios and Crimson Skies only boots to a black screen. However, if I disconnect the ethernet cable, it loads the loading screen, but freezes as well, just gets a tad bit further. I've tested on 3 different xbox's, all v1.6. Two are fresh BFM softmods, another has Dashloader BFM. I've only tested a handful of games so far, but Crimson is the only one that has issues. I've changed language in the MS Dash, reset, changed back to English. The dashloader xbox has the v1.6 xtf fonts, K.1.0.5838.1.xtf, renamed to xbox.xtf. I've disabled 480p/720p in both the MS Dash, and XBMC4Gamers. Issue persists across hdmi and component, 2 different tv's. I've deleted all gamesaves and dlc for the game, as well as folder 4D530021. Deleted the game, downloaded another redump from Archive. Tried both the repacked and unpacked versions. I loaded the 480p script in 4Gamers, and it said I didn't need it for this game. The fresh BFM's are 2TB, WD20EZBX, The Dashloader BFM is 3TB, HUS724030ALA640. Startech adapter and 80 wire on all three. Formatted in FatX using Hazenos guide. 2TB's have 128KB clusters, the 3TB has 256KB, Maxed F, deleted G. Everything else has worked fine so far, other xbox games, emulators, demos, homebrew. All are registered with Insignia, but haven't created gamertags yet. What does removing the ethernet cable have to do with loading just a bit further into the menu? With the cable connected, its a solid black screen. Disconnected, my tv flickers, as it does when a resolution change is taking place, a tiny green horizontal line appears for a split second, loading screen appears, then freezes. Attached are logs. One is after Crimson fails to load, another is after Halo loads successfully. Crimson.xbmc.log Crimson.xbmc.old.log Halo.xbmc.log Halo.xbmc.old.log
  9. I'm not sure if this is a bug or intended, but if you set the default to Root, instead of Home, pressing B reloads the dash, as well as the playlist. I used Home for a few weeks, but I prefer Root. It's faster to boot, more responsive, and just feels better. Maybe the Home would be more ideal on a 128MB.
  10. 1. Do you have multiple profiles? If not, there is an option to Auto Login as well as hide profile pic, so it boots straight to the dash. 2. I still have square blocks for loading. 3. You can rename your artwork for those folders. Just need a poster.jpg, synopsis.jpg, and an alt_synopsis.jpg. If you want background art, then add fanart.jpg. 1a. If you don't need two profiles, enable Auto Login and hide profile pic. Use audio settings in main dash. If you have a startup playlist, just press X at boot to show media controls, Right Thumb Up/Down controls volume. Dpad Up/Down switches between Pause/Stop. 2a. I've never tried visualizations, but just did and I don't see the media player controls during screensaver. Right Thumb Up/Down controls volume, and Right Thumb Left/Right seeks. Pressing B during visualization stops my playlist also, but it's my first time using it. Not sure what all it used to do. I noticed that if you use the Fanart screensaver, pressing B doesn't stop the playlist, but Right Thumb deactivates screensaver, unlike visualization. 3a. Never heard of Opus. Here is his Theme template for Gamers.
  11. I take advantage of the _resources folders, and its handy. On the main dash, press Dpad Up, scroll down to View Options, Dpad Right and make it say Resources Enabled. This takes priority over generic folder thumbnails, as they are higher quality. When scrolling through games, emulators, etc, the image being displayed is Poster.jpg. When you press Y to view synopsis info, 2 new images are used, synopsis.jpg and alt_synopsis.jpg. Fanart is the image that's behind the synopsis info, usually blurred. When you're done installed, run the built in Thumbnail Cleaner script and choose the bottom option to delete the old ones. If you installed them correctly, the new ones should appear.

    Bugs

I've been experimenting with music playlists lately. I just noticed that while in Kiosk Mode, 4Gamers won't autoplay a playlist at startup, while Emustation does. v2.0.003. Is it possible to add a menu item for playlist volume at startup? 85-90% would be ideal. Changing the system volume with the right thumb lowers everything, when I only want to lower the music a bit.
  13. I put the 60GB OCZ Agility II in one and here are the results. Keep in mind, I don't have a full set of xbox games on this one, so UnleashX is faster by default because of that. I also don't have CO8M, Emustation, or PS1 on here. This SSD also released in 2010, I'm sure the numbers would be better with a newer one. 3TB 7200 HDD 3TB 7200 HDD 60GB SSD UDMA 2 (Mode 4) UDMA 5 (Mode 32) UDMA 6 (Mode 64) Console Off to XBMC4Gamers = 36 seconds 34 seconds 32 seconds XBMC4Gamers to Emustation = 16 15 Not installed XBMC4Gamers to UnleashX = 51 50 12 (don't rely on this, as there are barely any games installed vs a full set) XBMC4Gamers IGR = 33 32 25 UnleashX Soft Reset = 18 15 14 XBMC4Gamers to CoinOps8Massive = 12 11 Not installed XBMC4Gamers to Xenon's PS1 Pack = 15 14 Not Installed XBMC4Gamers to Xenon's NES Pack = 16 14 13 XBMC4Gamers to Halo CE (No Trainers) = 27 25 25 XBMC4Gamers to Halo 2 (No Trainers) = 34 32 29 XBMC4Gamers to Def Jam FFNY (No Trainers) = 26 24 21
  14. That's what it's probably doing, switching back to Manual. I've seen countless posts on reddit about this issue. Instead of running the troubleshooter next time, go into the MS Dash network settings, and I'll bet it keeps going back to Auto. Select it to switch back to Manual and rerun the Connection Test.
  15. I've never actually played a game through Insignia yet, just registered, but I notice that UX resets my DNS settings in the MS Dash back to Auto, instead of Manual. A simple switch back to Manual allows a connection again. I can't find the link that said it, but XBMC doesn't have this issue if you set its network settings to Default (Dashboard). I'm not sure what to recommend for UX. You can modify UX's config to connect to Insignias RSS feed, though. It's pretty handy, it displays who's playing what game, and upcoming events.
  16. I've been registered on there for years, its pretty nice. They have tons of other stuff beside original Xbox. I can send you a discord invite to their server, that may help speed it up. That's how I originally joined. Just join the CoinOps discord, read the faq/rules, it explains how to join the backups discord, and ask for an invite. Some torrents have free downloads, as in, the data you download doesn't count towards your seed ratio. A bad ratio gets you kicked. Nikey's CCI set is free and has double upload rewards, so if you download the whole set, your ratio acted like you didn't download anything, and your upload ratio is buffed in the process. There are multiple Xbox tabs, one general tab, another for Coinops official, coinops unofficial, etc.
  17. I've no clue, I've never investigated them any further.
  18. Just checked some of mine, half that I checked had double labels, most are v1.6, ones a v1.4.
  19. I've never paid attention to mine, i'll actually look in a bit. I've just heard that when MS did warranty repairs on these, they slapped new labels over the old ones. Not sure what a tracking label is.
  20. What I'm seeing, is up by the corner of Mfg. Date, that vertical portion of the sticker looks like another one below it, unless it's a shadow, of just one sticker being slightly raised?
  21. Hard to tell from the pic, but it looks like it was a refurb by MS, which makes sense. If the original serial sticker is under the new one, its confirmed. Original owner likely had dvd issues, MS installed a new unit and a new serial sticker.
  22. I've never had that happen. I just load ImgBurn and pop in a dvd, burn it. No clue what that means.
  23. From what I've read, you have to fold an 18" just perfectly for it to fit. If the adapter has jumper settings, it should work.
  24. Welcome. I've used a pack of 50 Memorex DVD-R's since the days of SID and never had an issue. I would just ftp over the Extras Disc and run as a virtual disc. Download and extract Rocky's Extras Disc Attacher. Place the Extras Disc.iso in this folder, and ftp it to your App/Applications folder. It should say 'place extras disc in here'. Restart the xbox and run it. There will be Upgrade/Update options, since you're already on Rocky's, choose Update. As for Chimp, I really prefer FatXplorer3Beta on PC, if you can hook up your stock hdd to it. I use the Startech USB 2.0 adapter, but use direct Sata for larger ones. Since you're Samsung, there are reports of issues with the recommended Startech sata adapter. I've used this cable 4 times, and it's worked great, snug fit.
