Please bring this board to someone with modding experience and have them clean it up and install a modchip properly.

There are no "bad, Chinese fake RAM modules". That gets thrown out a lot, but I'd like to see the soldering work anyway.
-
The preferred method is to flash the XBlast BIOS, then check every RAM individually as you install them one by one. Order of installing the RAM into slots doesn't matter.

Lets see some pics of your wiring.

Why would the DVD drive make the console glitch? Can you boot into Xell by starting the machine with the EJECT button?

Using a Microsoft XBOX controller, or third-party controller?

There is some serious damage to a resistor below where the clock capacitor used to be. What happened?
-
I burned the same disk. Worked fine.

Good job, Snapper.

Give your board a good visual inspection and always clean your work.

I would say owning a Dremel or similar tool is a requirement.

Honestly, it doesn't look like scorching, it just looks like they didn't clean up their work and that's just used flux which leaves a orange-brown stain. Everywhere you look on the internet you see those "How's my work?" posts....but people never bother to take a minute to clean their joints or boards.

Nawwww, you're a good dude. It's wise to be inquisitive. Also, unless you have a very high-end soldering station, don't assume the reading on the display is the actual temperature. You can test with an infrared thermometer. They don't lie.
-
That's not a tiny via or slim trace....that's a big ol' pad. It looks like someone got impatient because the iron wasn't dumping enough heat onto the PCB...and the just tugged on the wire.
-
I don't know why everyone is saying "too hot"....those joints look ice cold. And a lifted via is probably when the wire was tugged on because the solder hadn't been released yet. When you say 450 degrees, do you mean Fahrenheit?
-
You can modify the bios to set any default fan speed you want. It's probably set at %100 right now.
-
Is your bios.bin file in the BIOS folder on the root of the drive?

Sounds like adding the extra device (DVD) is putting too much strain on a failing power brick. If you're plugging the power brick into a power bar or surge suppressor, try plugging it straight into the wall outlet.
