  1. Honestly, you may want to consider a hardware solution? If you have a DVD remote a XERC is the best option IMO. https://www.ebay.com/itm/194072997014?mkcid=16&mkevt=1&mkrid=711-127632-2357-0&ssspo=HEkCYLO_QvK&sssrc=2349624&ssuid=K2EhkXBLRdu&var=&widget_ver=artemis&media=COPY There is also a DIY mod to add a power button to your controller but you loose light gun support on any controller port you modify for this. I can't find a decent tutorial atm.
  2. It was TSOP flashed. It has been long enough that I honestly couldn't tell you if it was yoshihiro or not with any confidence. Has there ever been another hacked X3 bios released?
  3. I ran the hacked X3 bios on my first 1.0 when I built it. Iirc I had LBA48 issues when I swapped to a newer bios a few years later. It didn't take me too long to manually move what I needed off the old drive and back on after configured correctly. I only had a 250gb drive though...
  4. Complete speculation, but I bet the added gamertags in the last few days are for PSO devs and testers...
  5. As far as I know, only devs and testers have codes currently. The Insignia TOS page shows up in the MS dash about 3 pages before you need to enter your activation code. Try it out and let us know! I would think that would work. The suggestion from Insignia if you have an unsupported bios is to use xblunlock. I assume the correct settings in ConfigLive will have the same outcome. Insignia recommends m8+. I personally have one box registered and connected with m8+ and a second with Cerbios 2.0.3R. Cerbios is 50/50 on if it will connect to the Insignia service first time. The current work around for Cerbios is flash retail, Cerbios 2.0.2R, or m8+, connect to Insignia first time, flash back Cerbios, test connection. There is also the new patch of iND with XBL allowed that is floating around. I have no experience but that should work too. XBMC has a "Default" network setting that can inherit the network settings from the MS Dash. XBMC doesn't "work" with XBL (or any other custom dash that I know of). As long as your dashboard doesn't fight the DNS spoofing that Insignia is doing, the game will make the connections needed. The system retains its own network settings durring gameplay.
  6. FYI Cerbios 2.0.2R and 2.0.3R are having issue making initial connection to Insignia Live services. The current work around is boot into or flash m8+ and connect the first time. After that revert back to Cerbios and test again. Connection should now pass.
  7. I like the pads being there. I know it doesn't matter but it looks better IMO.
  8. I have one of his chips that I use to check my 128mb installs if they don't boot. I haven't tried flashing it personally but I know he uses a flasher to do it initially while he upgrades them. He has a youtube video that he covers how to do it DIY if you want. His listing isn't super clear but implies that the new chip has multiple banks to add what you want. UPDATED TO SUPPORT THE NEW 1.6 RAM MOD With the modern batches of Aladdin Modchips coming with SST chips that can't be flashed, an upgraded Xblast aladdin is much better option. With an Xblast Aladdin you'll have access to 3 different boot options 1x 512kb bank 1x 256kb bank The Xbox's onboard Tsop (Retail) If I get mine installed in something running in the next few days I will try it out.
  9. Nemesis makes a Xenium chip that is full featured and 2/3 the price if Stellar. https://www.emuxtras.net/forum/viewtopic.php?f=187&t=6786&sid=56d4dd72733fe9d7f4b9fd51c2faa960 I am putting a XeniumICE kit in my next crystal build.
  10. Ngl... I might cry the first time I see global scoreboards back on an OX lol.
  11. Ignore the pop-up and launch ImgBurn. Write the .iso file to your DVD with that program. Here is a video on how to use ImgBurn. https://youtu.be/RNp6yCOvAIY
  12. Either should work.
  13. Anyone trying to get registered for Insignia can go register on their website as of this morning. This is the OX Xbox Live replacement service that is going live soon. https://insignia.live/
  14. Are you trying to upgrade or add a new bios to the modchip or just install a custom dashboard? You do not necessarily need to change one while changing the other. If you are trying to update the bios, I recommend the updated version of EvoX. You may need to use one of the patched versions depending on what you plan to do (HDD bigger than 2tb, HD+, UDMA4/5, ect.) but it should do everything you want. Make sure to read the Smart chip manual and understand the flashing process before you start. Use one of the "FREE" banks if you do go this route. Dashboard selection is a bit more personal based on what you want to do IMO. Pretty much all of them have benefits and drawbacks. I personally started with EvolutionX and learned there. Since then have settled on XBMC4Gamers for most of my builds now.
  15. Download ImgBurn to burn a ISO to a DVD. https://www.imgburn.com/ Grab Sweet's install disk from the Install Disk section of the forum. Burn it to a DVD-R and boot it up.
  16. Hey your Christmas list looks just like mine!
  17. Is there anything OX you don't have "1 or 2 spare" of?
  18. OP stated they had another xbox that sounded virgin. I was going to recommend building that one out first before playing with a legacy modchip that is technically functional. Once they have an idea of how to get a custom dash working the task of modernizing someone else's 15+ year old build should be easier to navigate.
  19. They are up and running now. Hit the daily post cap for a new account and messaged me directly. There doesn't seem to be a custom dash mapped but it is booting to MS dash just fine. I didn't think of booting Slayers for FTP but told him to boot to Hexen or the Flasher disk to get the Evolution FTP server.
  20. I did a ram upgrade and swapped a 1.0 heat sink onto a 1.2 mobo and no get a solid black picture with no sound? I thought I may have screwed up the ram but get the same result when I plug a chip in with xblast. Then I noticed that if I plugged in my hard drive the light ring switches to my XBMC settings. I get the same result when booting from disk also. There does not seem to be any missing components from the board around any of the work areas. This was an issue with both component and composite cables. Anyone have any ideas on what to check next?
  21. Sorry, I had the codes mixed up. 8 is no HDD found. 6 is unable to unlock HDD and 5 is HDD unlocked. Have you tried EvoX with the correct drive yet?
  22. Yes that is what I mean. Try fatxplorer and see if it can recognize the drive. https://fatxplorer.eaton-works.com/ Sounds like the drive has failed.
