  1. I would open it up and look for any signs of corrosion then if's reasonably clean then power it on. You can always upload some pics here if you are not sure. Cheers SS Dave Soft modding is like masturbating, It gets the job done but it's nothing like the real thing.
  2. I would use the net flash option Have the Xbox connected to your network Select Net flash and it will give you a ip address On your PC open any net browser and type the IP address in the address bar at the top. You then follow the prompts. Tip after you have connected to the Xbox via the network change the bank switch to the other bank, Ant there is no need to make the 256kb bios into a 512kb file. 3. Yes, But if you are not 100% sure of what you're doing on a PSU don't touch it. Pot a pic of the melted trace. Cheers SS Dave Soft modding is like masturbating, It gets the job done but it's nothing like the real thing.
  4. The clock cap is been charged at 2.4 volt by the components next to it so it is close to it's rated voltage of 2.5 volt, I would suspect the clock cap may be short circuit and or the charging circuit has a shorted cap. I had a Xbox with a leaking clock cap in for repair around 15 years ago and I also noticed that the cap failed and damaged the traces more often in tropical locations. Inside the red box is the 2.4 volt regulator an I have seen pics of the 2 caps in yellow that have burnt the board from a possible short Over the years (40 +) of working with electronics the super caps are always the 1st one to fail followed by the low value high voltage caps used in CRT TV's but all electrolytic caps will fail. With the clock cap removed test the voltage across the points where the cap was and you should have just under 2.5 volt in standby. 5. Yes that is correct, so you could have the 512kb bios loading xbmc4gamers and the 256kb loading Emustation or they could both load the same dash. Cheers SS Dave Soft modding is like masturbating, It gets the job done but it's nothing like the real thing.
  6. If you can FTP the bios files to the Xbox you can use the net flash option. If you are ftping the bios files make a directory on C drive called bios and put them there. Both the config files can be edited with notepad to select what dash and location it looks for 1st. Here is a example of the Ind config file for the default dash DASH1=\Device\Harddisk0\Partition2\1evoxdash.xbe DASH2=\Device\Harddisk0\Partition1\Apps\XBMC4Gamers\Default.xbe DASH3=\Device\Harddisk0\Partition1\Dash\EvolutionX\evoxdash.xbe DEFAULTXBE=\Device\CdRom0\default.xbe Partition 2 is C drive and partition 1 is E drive Cheers SS Dave Soft modding is like masturbating, It gets the job done but it's nothing like the real thing.
  7. The clock cap is not really needed in a 1.0-1.4 as it was only to hold clock settings for 2 or 3 hours with the mains removed, If use xbmc4gamers and the Xbox is connected to your network the clock is set automatically anyway. If you really want to have a clock cap then this could be made to fit. https://www.digikey.com.au/en/products/detail/nichicon/JUWT1105MCD/2538684 Cheers SS Dave Soft modding is like masturbating, It gets the job done but it's nothing like the real thing.

  9. I would suggest the X2-5035.67 for the 512kb and the Ind5004.67 for the 256kb bank. The Xblast Lite has it's own flash section and you can use the net flash option to flash the banks from your PC. x2.5035.bin iND-BiOS.5004.67.bin You will also need the config files. x2config.ini This is copied to E drive root directory ind-bios.txt This is copied to C drive root directory Cheers SS Dave Soft modding is like masturbating, It gets the job done but it's nothing like the real thing.
  10. The front panel and chip are worth a bit the rest of the Xbox not so much. I paid around $400Usd inc shipping just over a year ago for the X3cp LCD panel, X3 Chip and all the cables and adaptors need to make it work. You one is missing one of the buttons so that reduces the price a bit. You could 3D pint new button and that would bump the price back up Unless the Xbox has a lot of work like Ram upgrade, Digital HDMI, Fully recapped, Fully loaded 3tb it's not worth that much. Not to me any way. Cheers SS Dave Soft modding is like masturbating, It gets the job done but it's nothing like the real thing.
  11. So you put the wire on the red instead of the purple ? I should not really cause any harm, It's just putting a bit more load on the power switch. Cheers SS Dave Soft modding is like masturbating, It gets the job done but it's nothing like the real thing.
  12. Yes it can be used as a USB dock or clone a HDD without a PC connected. From memory it was about $40aud inc shipping 4 years ago from china. Cheers SS Dave Soft modding is like masturbating, It gets the job done but it's nothing like the real thing.
  13. Yep that should work Or connect the unlocked HDD to a PC and use HDDraw to make a ISO file of the entire drive then you can use that ISO file to make a new HDD. Cheers SS Dave Soft modding is like masturbating, It gets the job done but it's nothing like the real thing.
  14. Yep the EvoxM8+_16 From memory the other bios was a X2-4983 type? If it was me I would change to a plug in pin header and use a 1.0-1.4 to re-flash it to 1.6 bios. Cheers SS Dave Soft modding is like masturbating, It gets the job done but it's nothing like the real thing.
  15. The black diagonal line is to make the chip always active and the other is to get the led power from the 3.3 volt switched supply instead of the 5 volt supply (don't forget to cut the trace as in the picture or permeant damage to the Xbox could happen ) Pin 6 of the LPC is only powering the LED on the Aladdin chip and if you don't mind the LED from been on all the time then you can leave pin 6 there. This image tells me the chip is working ok. So you may have a power issue or a hard drive issue and now that the PSU has failed see what happens when you fix that. 16. If you power on the Xbox with the eject button the Xbox should boot the original bios. Power on with will boot the DuoX2 bios The switch is bank 1 or 2 (from the factory it had a 1.6 (EvoxM8)only bios and a 1.0-1.4 bios) Have you tried to use the OGXbox installer 2021 v1.5.4 disk (In my view is a much better disk)? You can get copy from here. https://1fichier.com/dir/mX1kipIz When you burn any disk for the Xbox write the disk as slow as possible and use a brand name DVD-r (I use Verbatim DVD-r). I suspect that some one may have flashed the wrong bios to the chip (a non 1.6 compatible bios) and the easy way to fix it is to hot swap the chip. The chip need to be on a pin header so you can unplug the chip. Temporary put the D0 wire to ground and plug a working chip on the Xbox with a 1.6 compatible bios on it and boot he Xbox Then fit the non working chip and load up and bios flash program and select a 1.6 bios then flash it Or fit that chip to a 1.0-1.4 and it will probably boot and then you can re-flash it with a 1.6 bios. The switch is a DPDT (Double Pole Double Throw) and only one set of contacts is been used. Cheers SS Dave Soft modding is like masturbating, It gets the job done but it's nothing like the real thing.
  17. As both Xbox's are chipped an can work with the drive unlocked I would use a standalone HDD cloner like this type of thing. The one I have is Sata to Sata and takes around 7 hours to clone a fully loaded 2tb (I normally leave it working over night and it's done in the morning ) with out tying up a PC or Network. The other option is to make a image of the master drive then restore the image on a PC Cheers SS Dave Soft modding is like masturbating, It gets the job done but it's nothing like the real thing.
  18. As you can boot to the stock dash I would re-flash the onboard bios and not worry about the mod chip. Cheers SS Dave Soft modding is like masturbating, It gets the job done but it's nothing like the real thing.
  19. This is how I prep all the Aladdin chips I use as this way the led on the chip is switched off with the power button and the chip is set to always active Cheers SS Dave Soft modding is like masturbating, It gets the job done but it's nothing like the real thing.
  20. A lot of the solder joints look like 1st 4 in this pic Add some flux and reheat each joint and make sure the tip of the iron is on the board as well as the pin I am not a fan of running the wire though the screw hols as over time the wire can get crushed and short to ground Cheers SS Dave Soft modding is like masturbating, It gets the job done but it's nothing like the real thing.
  21. The Xbox is called a double insulated item here and the is no ground/earth to the Xbox, Although here the neutral pin of the AC outlet is also connected to ground at the substation not the means much when the plug in the back of the console can be fitted either way. Most homes made in the last 15 to 20 years will/should have a RDC (residual current device) in the main fuse box that would trip if the Xbox was wet when connected and that would protect you. Like this. The chance of the Xbox causing damage to any other device on the same power strip is basically zero unless the AV leads are all connect to a screen and even then it would be a extremely small chance as the RCD would kick in 1st. Even in standby there is dangerous voltages present in the Xbox Here I have the black lead of the meter in the earth/ground pin of the AC outlet and the red on one of the screws and it reads approx. 1/2 on the mains(220 volt) , This is with the Xbox in standby. All Xbox PSU's have a fuse on the mains input that will blow in the event of a major failure. 22. The components used in the OG Xbox are huge compared to stuff made now. Yes some form of magnification is defiantly needed. Cheers SS Dave Soft modding is like masturbating, It gets the job done but it's nothing like the real thing.
  23. Can you take pics of the top and bottom of both the main board and power supply. If you upload the pics to a pic sharing site then add the links here. Cheers SS Dave Soft modding is like masturbating, It gets the job done but it's nothing like the real thing.
  24. No it would not have caused any damage. Cheers SS Dave Soft modding is like masturbating, It gets the job done but it's nothing like the real thing.
  25. Sounds like a problem with the install and not the bios file Maybe post some pics of the install. Cheers SS Dave Soft modding is like masturbating, It gets the job done but it's nothing like the real thing.
