  1. You can not even melt 0.8mm leaded solder at 200c let alone solder to a circuit board Cheers SS Dave Soft modding is like masturbating, It gets the job done but it's nothing like the real thing.
  2. You need to practice soldering on a old circuit board Cheers SS Dave Soft modding is like masturbating, It gets the job done but it's nothing like the real thing.
  3. That BIOS checker gets the wrong info when you have a soft modded Xbox and even some mod chips are not displayed with that program. Just try to flash a 256kb bios. If the links are not right the flash will not work and nothing bad will happen. Cheers SS Dave Soft modding is like masturbating, It gets the job done but it's nothing like the real thing.
  4. If you have fitted a modchip or reflashed the TSOP it would have been done long ago. The new hard drive could have been fitted and you use Hexen disk to set up you new hard disk none of this tring to copy from a locked hard drive to a new hard drive then having to lock it. a total of 1 hour tops to do the whole thing. Cheers SS Dave Soft modding is like masturbating, It gets the job done but it's nothing like the real thing.
  5. The links to not change anything with the BIOS. By adding the links it is telling the TSOP chip that it can have a new file programed to it. Like a write protect tab on a floppy disk. Cheers SS Dave Soft modding is like masturbating, It gets the job done but it's nothing like the real thing.
  6. I know Xblast is on the latest hexen but i have sent you a PM with it any way.. Cheers SS Dave Soft modding is like masturbating, It gets the job done but it's nothing like the real thing.
  7. Have a look at this video The wire I used is 1 strand from a multi strand cat5 5 cable. Now rest the wire on your soldering iron and apply some solder so the wire is coated in solder. I have sent a PM with a short video of the next step. Cheers SS Dave Soft modding is like masturbating, It gets the job done but it's nothing like the real thing.
  8. I just set my Hakko soldering iron to 250c (200c is the lowest) and there is not a chance in hell I could solder any thing at that temperature with 0.5mm lead free solder. As a Xbox board was made with lead type solder that's what you should use in the repair and modification of it .If a PCB is made with lead free solder you must only use lead free. I also set my soldering iron to between 350-400c depending on the size of the joint and component I am soldering. With lead free solder it has a very small range of optimum temperature to work with to obtain a reliable joint and I would recommend that you start with leaded type solder then progress to lead free. 9. The way I do it is DO NOT softmod the Xbox. Cheers SS Dave Soft modding is like masturbating, It gets the job done but it's nothing like the real thing.
  10. Let me know how you go or if you get stuck Cheers SS Dave Soft modding is like masturbating, It gets the job done but it's nothing like the real thing.
  11. Yes you solder the 2 points R7D1 and R7D10 Then use the game save I sent you to copy to the Xbox as game saves then load Splinter Cell. You will need your Xbox pluged in to your home network as well Cheers SS Dave Soft modding is like masturbating, It gets the job done but it's nothing like the real thing.
  12. Did you use the eeprom file from that Xbox ? Cheers SS Dave Soft modding is like masturbating, It gets the job done but it's nothing like the real thing.
  13. Did you do a eeprom swap/reflash on this Xbox? Cheers SS Dave Soft modding is like masturbating, It gets the job done but it's nothing like the real thing.
  14. Yes it will and if it does not fix it you have a chip for the next Xbox you get. Cheers SS Dave Soft modding is like masturbating, It gets the job done but it's nothing like the real thing.
  15. I think you are talking about cloning a hard drive.? You can clone a xbox hard drive as long as the master and slave are not locked. Cheers SS Dave Soft modding is like masturbating, It gets the job done but it's nothing like the real thing.
  16. No you just fit the modchip and power on. If you use an aladdin chip I wire the BT to ground and not to the power switch and that makes the chip always active. Cheers SS Dave Soft modding is like masturbating, It gets the job done but it's nothing like the real thing.
  17. If you have a Winbond chip unfortunately Xblast can not flash it I use a an app called raincoat that can be run from a HDD or most install DVD's have a flash program on them that can flash a winbond chip. Cheers SS Dave Soft modding is like masturbating, It gets the job done but it's nothing like the real thing.
  18. If the BIOS splitting did not work the next step is to try a modchip and any working chip will do to test the main board. Aladdin mod chips can be found on fleeBay cheap if you search for "direct reading mod decoding chip" Cheers SS Dave Soft modding is like masturbating, It gets the job done but it's nothing like the real thing.
  19. Well done that's really good to here you have fixed it. Cheers SS Dave Soft modding is like masturbating, It gets the job done but it's nothing like the real thing.
  20. To flash the TSOP you need to boot from the TSOP and remember to use a 256kb bios for the TSOP chip something like an X2-4981.67 or a Evox M8 So the xbox will need to boot from the hard drive without the chip fitted and to run the software to flash it you will need to have it softmodded. Cheers SS Dave Soft modding is like masturbating, It gets the job done but it's nothing like the real thing.
  21. Sounds like you need to get some old computer circuit boards and practice on them 1st or you will have a nice looking door stop. The points you need to link on the Xbox are small and real easy to lift and that just makes a lot more work fixing it Flux is your best friend when it comes to soldering. Good quality solder helps and don't use the lead free crap and a temperature controlled solder station is a must. other tools are a good light and a magnifying glass, cutters ,isopropyl alcohol with a toothbrush to clean the board after. Things like too much heat and not enough heat can cause damage as well as holding the idon on the joint for to long, It's just something that comes with practice. I would also search for youtube videos and watch a heap before you even open your Xbox . Cheers SS Dave Soft modding is like masturbating, It gets the job done but it's nothing like the real thing.
  22. To use the old 250 gig drive in anything else it will need to be unlocked. I think Chimp can unlock it for you while it is connected to the 1.6 You can use a 350 gig IDE drive with a normal 40 way cable. Cheers SS Dave Soft modding is like masturbating, It gets the job done but it's nothing like the real thing.
  23. You should be able to load up the new 1024kb (1meg) BIOS and just before you commit to the flash disconnect the links and then complete the flash . If you have booted from a modchip then you will need a special BIOS in the modchip and 2 links that will be removed in the correct time and order to flash the on board TSOP chip. Cheers SS Dave Soft modding is like masturbating, It gets the job done but it's nothing like the real thing.
  24. It is sounding like it. I would fit a modchip hand see what happens. You could try the 3 wire hack and see if it will boot of the 2nd half of the BIOS chip as I believe the BIOS is 4 copies of the same thing in bank 1,2,3,4 Cheers SS Dave Soft modding is like masturbating, It gets the job done but it's nothing like the real thing.
  25. I have seen posts suggesting that the a rectifier has failed and that's causing a low 12 volt supply. There is 2 on this heat sink I would suspect the bigger one is the 5 volt and the smaller one for the 12 volt I would test the 12 volt switch transistor 1st. The metal tab should read approx 12 volt with the Xbox in standby(plugged in and not on) and the same when running if the reading drops when running then look at the rectifier pack if no change in voltage then I would replace that part. Maybe upload a pic of both sides of the power supply. Cheers SS Dave Soft modding is like masturbating, It gets the job done but it's nothing like the real thing.
