  1. Just upgrade to Rocky5's softmod and then null it. Rocky's is confirmed safe for nulling and is much better/more stable than SID anyway. No one should be using SID anymore.
  2. ^ This. This is an incredibly easy fix with a cheap modchip. People are way too quick to throw around the word "brick."
  3. Nice. I have an old Aladdin programmer (a small, red board), but there doesn't seem to be any way to get it working on my PC, sadly.
  4. iND-BiOS supports 128MB RAM and is a pretty solid BIOS overall. Just don't use the 5004.06 (F only) version because it will brick the system. Use the 5004.67 (F & G) version.
  5. None of the BIOSes available now have the clock loop issue. Rip the fucker out.
  6. If you aren't going to hardmod it, then you should null your HDD key to make things much less of a headache when the HDD fails. If you used anything other than JCRocky5's Xbox Sofmodding Tool to softmod it, you need to upgrade to that, then use the HDD key nuller option in the NKpatcher Settings application. Also, if the Xbox is not a 1.6, you need to remove the clock capacitor before it kills the motherboard.
  7. It's pretty common, actually. Xbox DVD drives are pretty awful.
  8. The only reasons a BIOS should fail to boot HeXEn is if it's a stock Xbox, or a softmodded Xbox with a fucked up softmod. And that wouldn't even have anything to do with HeXEn, it would just be because a stock Xbox can't boot burned media. The issue has to be the DVD drive.
  9. HeXEn should always boot from the HDD. You have to launch it from root.xbe though, not default.xbe. When it comes to DVD drives though, some can have trouble launching HeXEn, even if they work fine otherwise. Nothing you can do about it.
  10. No. Just download the zipped ISO from the link in the second post.
  11. Very true. Also check if it's one of the less common 1.4 crystals. If it is, you need to remove the clock capacitor before it wrecks the motherboard.
  12. The latest version of UnleashX also has a glitch where highlighting a DLC item in the saves manager soft reboots the console.
  13. Oh. Well yeah. Whoever made UnleashX has long since left the Xbox scene and never released the source code for some asinine reason, unfortunately. Whatever HDD they had it stored on back then has certainly died or been tossed out ages ago by now and there's no reason to assume that they've been secretly backing it up, from drive to drive, for themselves all this time with no purpose. Even if they were, it's obvious that they would have no plans on releasing it if they haven't done so by this point. So yeah. It's long gone.
  14. Inside information? No. It's a known fact that the source code was never made public.
  15. I bought 360 belts and used them in Samsung, Thomson and Hitachi drives for the OG without issue.
  16. Ah, interesting. Seems like a very odd design choice.
  17. You can flash TSOPs or modchips with HeXEn, yes. Or better yet, XBlast OS.
  18. There are various UnleashX skins here on these forums. Any skin should support any resolution, though some may not look so good when stretched to widescreen. That being said, you shouldn't enable 1080i on the Xbox. There's just no reason for it. Taxing on the system, causes slowdown and only about six games even support it. 720p max.
  19. I'm assuming you mean it's just TSOP flashed? Because it can't be both flashed and softmodded, as the two mods can't coexist. Either way, since the Xbox is a 1.4, you need to remove the clock capacitor if you haven't yet. Leaving it in will kill the Xbox.
  20. Xbox DVD drives are just old and shitty. Some of them will simply fail to read certain discs, authentic or otherwise, for no reason, while others can read the same disc fine.
  21. It's an XBMC thing. XBMC refers to its own install directory as Q. I don't know why. I also don't know why XBMC doesn't let you see the X, Y or Z partitions.
  22. XBMC-Emustation's downloader has a downloadable skin that makes it look more like XBMC4Gamers. If you're using emulators the old-school way, the emulator's root folder should come with a folder called "roms" or something like that and the ROMs need to be placed in there. For XBMC-Emustation though, they go in Q:\.emustation\roms\*system name* or wherever else you set them up to be if you choose to customize the path.
  23. Sounds like you're confusing XBMC4Gamers with XBMC-Emustation. The former just boots into the emulator, like the older dashboards. The latter shows the ROM list in the dashboard and boots them from there.
  24. Passcodes are always AYBX and passwords are always "Xbox" (case sensitive, so capitalize the first X). The controller shouldn't make a difference to my knowledge, but try a first party one anyway, I guess.
  25. HeXEn can install a dashboard, yes. Or alternatively, you can download whichever dashboard you want from the internet and just boot HeXEn in order to grant FTP access, and FTP your downloaded dashboard to the Xbox's HDD.
