  1. I can confirm that I have success with the modified ATX supply: Currently backing up everything via FTP as the hard drive has a lot of hours on it too. I will be putting together a guide as promised for the next guy, the power supply is from a mini-itx case that was going to the dump, I'm going to transfer the guts to that. Thank you for all your input, stay tuned for a guide.

  2. My kit arrived today, and I'm using this same redux fan from noctua. The quality of the kit is amazing, and the support of Nemesis. Here in Brazil where I live the Xbox was reaching 62 celsius, now with kit installed, it's 52.

  3. Regarding the DVD drive, from my quick research after dinner I would need to hard mod and flash a bios to remove it completely. That said I am pretty confident I can disassemble the drive and remove all the plastic and metal and just leave the electronics in a small box, and the hard drive in front of that. Then dissect the PSU and hang it above the space for the old one. Cooling might be an issue, but I can definitely figure something out. Also thank you for your kind offer @MadMartigan, but I am on income support and live below the poverty line. My entertainment budget this month was about $7, and I spent it on 5 3300uf caps from a local place in the hopes of it fixing the no power issue. Everything I done since that replacement caps purchase has been with scavenged parts from electronics I've dissected going back 20+ years in some cases. I replaced the clock cap with a 220ohm resistor, and the Q7C2 transistor with a standard NPN transistor: Which still didn't fix the issue. I checked over the power supply board and there is nothing obviously wrong, which is why I started pulling caps to test. My prototype that I showed above has a couple of issues, otherwise I would post a picture of it here. On that note, should I make a new thread or just continue here for instructions/guide I am putting together?

  4. Amazing work! Regarding PID/VID for PS3/4 controllers generally it is better to check against the interface class/subclass/protocol. Atleast on Xbox these are always consistent and so you don't need to rely on hardcoded PID/VIDs etc by I'm not sure how the PS controllers are tbh

  5. I've also been looking at these and comparing prices from various PCB fabs. The most recognizable one, PCBway, was about $25 shipped for the minimum quantity (5), and this was just for one of the two top layers. Other fabs were as low as maybe 15 dollars? This website was helpful: https://pcbshopper.com/ I was hoping to get the decorative, top layer in matte black but for some reason this seems to more expensive and less available. Does anyone have experience with these PCB fabs? It would be nice to have an idea of who to go with before gambling ~$50.

  6. I've been testing this for 2 ish weeks as they've added some of these new features. Here's a video unlocking a factory locked stock orpaned WD HDD with vendor comands. Here's a video of unlocking a factory locked stock orphaned Seagate slim HDD with vendor commands. It also works on rubber jacket seagate models, but I didn't have a factory locked (maximum security) HDD to test it on. This did unlock every drive I threw at it. Because Team Resurgent was still working on fixing issues with older generation Xenium chips, all of the unlocking was done on an Xblast Aladdin modchip I converted myself from a cheap Aladdin XT Plus 2 from China and a 49LF080A from Digikey. Special thanks to Modzville for helping me figuring out the Xblast Aladdin stuff. I'm impressed at the incremental updates, but floored by the double massive feature drop of other modchip support and Vendor Specific Command orphan HDD unlocking.

  7. Ah okay, I dont have any but I'd imagine they're just generic HID, that wouldn't be much work to support. I'm not sure how they would map to something like an Xbox controller though, that might be a bit wonky

  8. The latest release I ever found was 0.5 (fixed). I was never able to find this elusive 0.7 beta release. Wayback Machine archived copy of www.dextrose.com's dx-dexbe-0.5.fixed.zip.

  9. I’m no doctor but I think I might have diagnosed what was wrong with this one. It’s the worst that I’ve seen, but quite sure it’s pretty tame compared to what some of you have seen…so it got me thinking it might be a fun / gross discussion…what’s the worst condition you’ve seen…bugs, rodent remnants, fire, utter destruction. Share pics if you have them!
