Dave C.
Is it safe to say that if you open a factory sealed Xbox and find a fan on the GPU that it is a version 1.0?
Dave C.
It is 4/24/2002 so I am going to guess it is a 1.1 then. Is there any definitive way to easily identify the 1.0 vs 1.x?
scrappysphinx
The 1.0 has the fan on the GPU and also has a daughter board for controller ports. The 1.1 has the GPU fan but the controller ports plug directly into the motherboard. 1.0/1.1 also have the older AT style single row psu connector
Dave C.
No daughter board so I am guessing 1.1. Thanks!
scrappysphinx
That's definitely a 1.0, you can see the daughterboard at the front of the case. Follow the cables from the controller ports and you'll see they plug into an upright board (the daughterboard) which in turn plugs into the motherboard. As its a 1.0 if you're planning to tsop mod it you will need to use a 1mb bios
