HD resolutions of 480p/720p/1080i only work with NTSC and a suitable HD component cable or HDMI convertor cable or HDMI mod (hardware). Most people go for a hardmodded console with a modchip. A lot easier than softmod. Use the Enigma to change region from pal to ntsc too. Hope that helps.
PRince404
Xblast OS also allows you to change the region, if you're already soft modded then consider using Cerbios.
HDShadow
To swap the Xbox region, hard of softmodded, you should use the Enigmah Region Changer app which is usually a default app provided with most dash installer or softmod packages. It literally takes just a few seconds to change PAL to NTSC and as long as your TV supports NTSC external input (most PAL TVs have for decades) and a ED/HD AV cable you should have the 480p, 720p and 1080i provide in the video settings menu.
