Here I have another very small batch of four complete kits of the Xecuter 3. Meticulously assembled, hand soldered pin by pin on every chip for the best I can achieve. Made over months. An enormous effort goes into making these available to this standard. These even have the correct sized thumbwheel for the LCD, complete with all professionally made cables and switches, also 3M adhesive backs (not tape) made to size. All have been fully tested including with standard HD44780 20x4 LCD output. Pin header protrusions on reverse have been smoothed so nothing sticks into your thumb etc and for overall aesthetic finish. There are 3 red kits and 1 purple kit. The purple kit comes with the white switch & purple power eject board. All are £65 each plus post. Packed as per pictures and are ready to ship. Paypal either F&F or fees to you, either way. See previous sale thread for ref if desired. Thanks. More pictures link.

I have been rebuilding a few of my Xbox HDD's recently and have built myself a little starter pack for use with FatXplorer. I thought I would link it here just in case anyone else finds it useful. Cerbios HARDMOD New HDD setup files updated.7z Cerbios HARDMOD New HDD setup files updated (GDRIVE) Includes a folder for C, E and F, that just need to be pointed to when formatting a HDD in FatXplorer or extracted and manually copied to an already formatted HDD. C contains a Cerbios.ini (set to HDD and DVD with no other changes from stock), the Cerbios BootAnims folder, a full MS Dash with Dashloader as evoxdash.xbe. E contains the XBMC4Gamers install, an Apps folder, A recovery/backup dashboard and the necessary TDATA and UDATA folders. F has an Apps folder and an empty Games folder. Dashloader is setup as below- Default dash is E:/XBMC4Gamers/default.xbe Recovery Dash is E:/Dashboard/default.xbe (UnleashX) Button shortcuts (Hold at power up)- Start = Boots recovery dash Back = Boots MS Dashboard Other buttons can be setup using Dashloader Customiser in E:/Apps. Apps provided in E:/Apps Dashloader Customiser DVD2Xbox Unleash X Evolution X Controller Tester Enigmah Videomode Switcher XBMC Apps provided in F:/Apps Xbox Artwork Installer 3.2 (If you have internet connection on your Xbox you can delete this and use the Online version available in XBMC4Gamers - Settings - Downloader) After copying across to a HDD you can edit the Cerbios.ini to your specific needs. If anyone has any suggestions of anything useful that they think should also be included please let me know and I can add it. Updated 20/03/25 to include the latest pre built XBMC4Gamers from Rocky5 PS I know this isn't an Installation Disc but it didn't seem to fit in any other category

The following content was taken from the Xbox scene discord. Courtesy of Haguero. Its only been 20+ Years but did you know you could flash the xyclops on 1.6 consoles? If not you do now thanks to our good friend @Prehistoricman you can load Cerbios onto your 1.6 & no modchip or softmod is required. More info will be released soon but until then enjoy this video. The scene still delivering after 20+ years 20250502_022211_1.mp4 My 2 cents... This is big news for 1.6 consoles, no more will you need to softmod or modchip your 1.6 to get Cerbios running. No more LPC rebuilds This is akin to TSOP flashing an earlier revision console. Imo a modchip with PrometheOS installed is still the best way to hack an xbox, simply becasue of the extra features it brings but either way @Prehistoricman has smashed it outta the park with this discovery. Great work yet again mate

hi, can someone please help? i have downloaded the Resurgent. A new XBMC4Gamers Theme and followed the instructions to put the unzipped folder in the "XBMC4Gamers/skins/profile skin/" but when i restart the xbmc4gamers nothing changes for me.i used a downloaded C and E from hazeno.com and using fatX i created a new HDD from scratch and placed the xbmc4gamers on my F partition and start it from there. But thought it looked a little bland so wanted to liven it up a bit with Resurgent. A new XBMC4Gamers Theme. but for the life of me cant get it working. Can some one tell me what I'm doing wrong please ?

I bought an XBOX on a whim. I have never owned an XBOX and I just started reading through stuff on the consolemods wiki. I turned it on for the first time this morning and instead of the usual splash screen, it said ind-bios and then loaded into a blue menu. Blue Menu Details Lower Left: EvolutionX V+3935 Lower Right: Name: HeXEn Left: [hard drive info; four partitions; looks like it's a 1TB drive) Right: BIOS: Unknown; Kernel: 1.00.5003.67 I opened the XBOX up and checked for the clock capacitor as prescribed by the wiki. It has been removed. The area around it is a little corroded, but given that the XBOX isn't misbehaving, I don't feel compelled to fiddle with these bits. I forgot to look at the TSOP chip before I closed it up (mainly because I hadn't gotten that far in the wiki yet to know that I should look at it). But, there were no mod chips, so I think what I'm looking at is a TSOP-flashed XBOX with a custom BIOS called ind-bios. Goals I'd like to make this XBOX "up to date" by flashing/installing the latest recommended firmware and dashboard software. I bought an adapter that allows me to hook a USB flash drive up to the XBOX controller port. Is this enough to get me started?

Hi all! I've noticed dashboard and emulator skins for the original Xbox have slowly started to disappear and the few links you can find are those crappy Mega links with the ad assaults. SO, I decided to start and add an original Xbox Skin Archive to my site and host downloads for them for free to all! You can see it here: https://www.tinker-mods.com/original-xbox-skin-archive/index.php I took the liberty of getting screens shots of everything so you can browse them and just download the ones you like the best. Everything is in 7z (7zip) file format and ready to install in the skin directory of your dashboard/emulator after you extract it! Right now I have a little over 50 skins I've added but would love to add more. ESPECIALLY IF YOU HAVE EMULATOR SKINS PLEASE!!! If you do have any you would also like to submit for me to add then you can go here and contact me : https://www.tinker-mods.com/contact.php Lastly for the skins I do have if you know who made them let me know that as well so I can add proper credits to the creators! If you are a skin maker yourself I would love to add your work to this archive too! Just keep in mind I won't automatically add everything, such as inappropriate themes, etc. Anyways I hope people enjoy this!

I removed the arcade source button ages ago because I didn't need it at the time since I consolidated into just a simple Apps and Games source. How do I go about adding the Arcade source button again to place Coinops 8 inside of that? I tried adding source but it looks like it's just missing and I can't remember for the life of me what I did to even remove well over a year ago now.

Thought I'd have a crack at the old legend yet again with a completely different build. This is the work of Khoa Hoang, so major props to him. @maximus64 OpenX3. This uses the original CPLD of the Xecuter 3, the Lattice LC4128V, along with the usual same Xecuter flash chips and passives etc. Currently, I've hacked this onto a redux pcb purely because its what I had on hand and didn't want to hack up the other second duff X3 purple I have after fixing the first one shown in the tutorial I made for that, as I didn't know if this would work. This actually may be an even easier fix for broken Xecuter 3 chips in due course, but I'll get to to that some time in the future, as that just complicates things here. So it's on this PCB due to a couple of trace mods only, so ignore the redux pcb, I'll get around to doing a new PCB in due course. I'm still finessing it but it's running sweet as of now, bit of meddling to do regarding that backup chip as usual. It does boot whatever is flashed on it, but being a pain over ID. Still can't get the ID of that Xecuter 'Backup' chip. If anyone can help with that it would be appreciated. It's not AM29F002BB (redux) nor AM29F002NB (n/c pin 9) either. It will read and program, but it's not the correct ID. It responds 0x 7F 7F, which means it's several steps in according to jtag standards as far as I can tell. May need Spi. Anyway, not much else to say, but it's another working Xecuter 3 chip and on the original CPLD. Config live and all that jazz all there and bank switching etc. Mentions... Maximus64 - Openx3 Psycho_Chewbacca (aka Benny T) - legend in his own right. Ryzee119 (code) Ernegien (Xbox7887) - did the x3 IO registers. Team Donkey - OpenX3 Schematic/pcb etc. ^Props to them lot and anyone else involved. Will have a look at doing the skins thing at some point if I sort the backup chip. https://github.com/Ernegien/x3cl-skins I could have done this a while ago I guess before redux, but getting more used to the Lattice software.

Hi all, I’m new to the Xbox scene and Xbox modding, (I’m older) and was around before anyone had a mobile /smart phone or tv. I chipped ps1’s and ps2’s when they were originally released for my kids. I require clarification on the following Xbox identification and mod chip advice. one of my sons has given me an old unused Xbox one, (with external power supply) to clarify is this classed as an og Xbox? And secondly I would like to upgrade the hdd in the Xbox and hard wire a mod chip that self boots when the Xbox is switched on. can anyone help me with chip recommendations or advise how I can contact a uk seller? also if I go online with a chipped console will Microsoft ban my account ? im asking in a round about way can all chips be spotted by Microsoft? thanks in advance cozzie

I'll take two, lol.

I figured since I've been lurking for a while trying to gather information that I better create an account and contribute to this site as I jump into my first mod project. I have a couple "spare" xbox consoles lying around that I'm going to try and learn modding with Modxo, but for my main unit I decided to take the plunge with project stellar. the more long term project that I want to accomplish is creating new shells/cases for the remaining xbox consoles I have that stores them somewhat like a server rack, each with a handle to pull out of one big carry case. this way I can take a single case with 4 consoles in it to a LAN party with my old HS buddies and everything is updated and plug and play when we feel the need to relive our glory days... i'll be working through the design in Fusion360. I have a Bambu X1C that is currently printing a 70mm case fan adapter in PAHT-CF for a buddy, and I also have an AVID CNC router that I'm hoping to use with some aluminum/Delrin/HDPE to make the custom shells. thank you, admins, for moderating this site and keeping it alive! lots of helpful information on here.

I ported my Dreamcast game Matterrun, written in 2016-2017, to the original Xbox. If anyone is interested in trying it out, you can grab it at http://atari.vg-network.com/fuseki No CD image, FTP only. Here's a video of the game running on the Dreamcast while it was still in development, just a few days from release. It plays the same on the Xbox:

Hey all. Years back I softmodded my Xbox and installed a 500GB WD Blue IDE drive. That drive recently failed and I'm trying to rebuild a new HDD using the FatXplorer 3 beta. I built the drive using my own backup files, but when I try to boot, I get Error 16. And now that the drive is locked, Windows (and FatXplorer) are no longer able to find the drive. It does not show up at all in Disk Management. I've resigned to the fact that this hard drive is probably unrecoverable. I've got a few more drives to work with but I wanted to consult here before aimlessly bumbling around and needlessly locking more drives. Here's some more info: I have a full backup of the Xbox - C and E drives, bin files (bios.bin, eeprom.bin, disk.bin, hddkey.bin), hdd key in plaintext hex, etc. The new drive is a 2.5" WD Blue, 320GB, connecting to my computer via internal SATA I'm using a Startech adapter and 80-wire cable 1.6 Xbox, clock capacitor replaced The system goes to Error 16 immediately after the boot animation finishes My computer's BIOS recognizes the drive, and it prompts me for a password on boot-up, but typing in the key (hex values) wasn't successful. I used my eeprom.bin backup in FatXplorer when it came time to lock the drive My questions are: Is there any way I can wipe and unlock this drive? Bootable disk utilities, etc Do we know what error 16 might indicate in this situation? Google suggested bad clock cap but I replaced that with a Nichicon a few years back Any idea where I may have gone wrong or what I can try differently on the next HDD attempt?

A couple of weeks ago I decided to do a removable LCD screen mod that plugs into the controller ports. I'm thinking of raffling this to help support the website. What are your thoughts?

Hello. I'm from Germany, soon in my mid 30s, electrician and love electronics, programming, tinkering and everything that has to do with automation. After several years, i wanted to play on my old xbox again. Since I also wanted to have fun tinkering with it too, I got myself two xboxes, as my old one fell victim to the clock capacitor and took some components with it. The time and effort of ordering the missing parts, repairing the circuit tracks and testing everything wasn't worth it for me, so i bought two new xboxes. Now i have two 1.6b boards, a black one and a crystal in good condition. Also a lot of spare parts like 4 dvd drives, shells and other components. I pick out the best parts from everything and then build a decent Xbox. The black one serves as a test subject and if everything works as I imagine, the mods will be built into the Crystal. Currently i'm using my SmartXX LT OPX and the Cerbios 2.4.1. It's a good modchip that has never caused any problems back in the day. Multiple banks, easy to install and has its own menu with settings. Done: -Soldered the SmartXX LT OPX directly to the board on the bottom side -Replaced new thermal paste (Arctic MX4) for CPU and GPU -> Reduced temps. ~2-3°C -Removed 2 0-ohm resistors from the cpu -> Reduced temps ~7-8°C (Now 56°C with load -> before ~66-67°C) Thanks to @eeksdee -Replaced 40-Wire to 80-Wire IDE cable -Added IDE to SATA adapter (green one) (I have 3 working adapter, you don't need an overpriced startech adapter but you need at least the 80-wire ide cable.) -Replaced the hdd with a 2,5" 1tb ssd -Bought an ElectronXout hdmi adapter (Tested several adapters, the black levels were bad in all cases except ElectronXout) Planned: -Fan Upgrade ( I'm currently building a frame for a 70mm fan in Tinkercad without having to mill anything away. -Ram Upgrade Waiting for delivery -Find a solution for the high power draw in standby (5-6W!) Maybe the 3V3 to the SmartXX causes the high power draw, i need to test. If so, I will install a 3V3 voltage regulator and take the voltage from the 5V of the psu, which is only switched on when the Xbox is turned on. -Replace the two front led's with adressable led's and build in a microcontroller Arduino or rp2040 or something similar. I want to equip the LEDs with a smoother effect when they are on/off/color changing. The program (currently for my rp2040) is almost ready and also working 90%. -Find a psu replacement (Maybe) Maybe build my own solution. The plan is to make everything look as original as possible, just with some mods and optimizations. So far so good, that’s all from me for now.

hello im a bit of a old fart but i found a original xbox in a bin outside (how could they i dont know) so i rescued it after a clean up and new paste its a lovely factory fresh console. i have seen multiple videos in the past on how to soft mod so did all the checks and turns out mine isnt a 1.6 so winning first thing i did do was remove the clock capacitor and it didnt do much damage, i have tried to clean the area but whats left wont shift. did a soft mod and left it at that untill i started seeing HDD swaps and reflash the bios, the idea did worry me, i even get worried about flashing a PC bios but i wanted to say hello and show what ive done to my xbox, i hated bridging the R7D3 and R7R3 points to unlock the bios but i did it

Hey guys! My name is Dizz, from New Zealand! Happy to be here and finally start dipping my toes into the xbox scene! Don't know why its taking me so long to get into the xbox space but have very much enjoyed modding, updating all things gaming! I have a bunch of xbox's to experiment on and see how far I can go to make my version of the absolute beast of an xbox! I have 3 which I am currently tricking out. 1x Project Stellar Build, 1x Xenuim Mods (Nemesis) Build, 1x Pre purchased modded xbox to pull apart! Really interested in LCD/OLED screen mods as I haven't looked into them yet and looks like the gear is hard to get your hands on these days... especially being New Zealand based! Any who looking forward to getting into things and slowly meeting you all! If you have any graphic needs such as Logos, Cover Art, Banners, How to PDF Guides for your mods get in touch, I will be happy to help out! Cheers, Dizz

Hi everyone, first post here. I've tried researching this myself but i'm struggling with a few aspects. This is my first attempt at trying anything hard or soft mod related. I have a stock 1.6 xbox which i have installed an old duo x2 modchip in that i took out of a non-working xbox i bought. I believe i have soldered it in correctly as it starts up with the evox logo and goes to the standard xbox dashboard. I have purchased: A 2tb sata hdd Startech IDE to SATA adapter An 80 wire IDE cable 1. Should i try and flash the bios of the modchip to something new like cerbios now or leave this until after i have installed the new hard drive? If so, is there a good guide for this? All the resources i can find are softmod methods 2. How do i go about installing the new hard drive setup? Do i need to format it using my pc first or am i able to connect it straight to the xbox and set it up via an ethernet connection to my pc? I= 3. When it comes to software, i'm a little unsure about why there are so many dashboard options? Once again, i can only find softmod videos on the internet about setting up rocky5 xbmc4gamers etc and i don't have the ability to burn discs to do these methods. I do have a usb adapter and a compatible usb drive though. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Please help! I have just installed an new 40gb ide hdd and a pc dvd drive (just to get my modded xbox to boot) I put the OGXBOX Cerbio installer dvd into the drive and it booted to the ogxbox menu It recognised taht i had a new HDD and asked if i wanted to format it which i did (i can now see C,E and F drives) I then flashed my alladin modchip v1.6 with the cerbios bio which worked. but when i try to install a dashboard off the dvd it just hangs and wont do anything, just says please wait and empty progress bars. This means the xbox wont boot unless the OGXBOX installer disc is in the drive as there is no dashboard. Have i missed something? What am i doing wrong Thanks in advance for any help.

Hi all, I have recently acquired a hardmodded crystal 1.6 box from a popular online auction website, which has with a 200gb hdd. I opened it up and gave it a good lean as it was pretty disgusting! Literally spiders inside. It has an Aladdin XT hardmod, I don’t know when it was installed. Current dash is EvolutionX V+3935. I had a good poke around in EvoX settings, it states that it has unknown BIOS. Says the same in Xbox BIOS checker 5.0. I can’t see anywhere to backup EEPROM (I read that this is important) – do I need to do this? There are no options that I can find in EvoX that will allow me to backup. There are various apps, including XBMC, Avalaunch, etc. Should I just delete them? If so, how? The app ‘Xenium’ when loaded states “You have a Cloned Fake Xenium” – what does this mean? I assume that the BIOS is out of date and so is the dash. I read that UnleashX and Xbox4Gamers is the best combo to have. How can I update to these please? Thanks in advance all!
