About Me

  1. i had been using the modified m8 evo(i think that's what it is called) bios because there is just something about seeing that stock boot image that i love. i don't know how to describe it but, it just does something to me. i recently started using cerbios because i wanted to take full advantage of my 3tb drive. so how can i make cerbios have the stock boot flubber and sound?
  2. Recently, I got an unmodified Japanese version of the original XBOX, NTSC-J. Meanwhile, I also have several game discs with Traditional Chinese. However, since the language options of the Japanese version of XBOX system do not include Traditional Chinese, when I run these game discs with Traditional Chinese, I can only run the English version. Are there any solutions, such as adding the system language to the MS Dashboard? In addition, I also found that some discs can update the MS Dashboard to version 5960. If I perform offline updates using game discs with Traditional Chinese, is it possible to add the Traditional Chinese system language to the MS Dashboard?
  3. it's not easy to find and most sites have a bunch of malware. anyone know where i can download it from?
  4. Hi, i just bought an aladdin chip from amazon and i've sucsessfully installed it on my xbox, but i want to change the original flubber logo and the xbox logo, can i do it with my aladdin chip? thanks my xbox is an 1.6 version
  5. I've looked everywhere I can think of on information mentioned in the title. I have a Pi for modding 360s so I'm trying to avoid buying another programmer if possible. Does anyone have any insight on this or whether it's even possible or not? I've got the Pi pinout diagram, but no clue how it translates to the aladdin's programming points.
  6. I paid a lot of money for a sata drive, an adapter and a 80 pin wire and it didn't work. I was thinking about buying an IDE drive since they are much cheaper in my area. Can I install it on my modchipped xbox without the use of a 3rd party ribbon cable or adapter?
  7. So, a couple of weeks ago I got my hands on an og xbox. I didn't know anything about the console itself and the og xboxes in general. I've had experience with different consoles, as well as modding them. I got the xbox for about 10 dollars, and it has an upgraded IDE drive which is 80GB and is loaded with heck ton of games and emulators. The modchip installed is aladin, I researched about it and I think I can only use the EvoX dashboard with it, correct me if I am wrong. Initially it had games on the F drive but the EvoX displayed only some programs located in the E drive. I installed unleashX opened it through the EvoX launch menu and it displayed the games in the F drive, but when I tried to play them they were stuck on a black screen not loading. However I managed to resolve the issue, changing the configuration file of the EvoX to display the F drive directory also and now everything launches. A guy on reddit told me that my board is V1.4 and also I removed the infamous clock capacitor. There is an option in EvoX which lets me boot to the original MS dashboard, but it gives me an error code. Someone told me that I had to put my original dashboard files in the C drive, but I don't want to tinker with it before asking here so I don't f*ck something up. I've attached a couple of pictures so you can get an idea what I have on my HDD. I would really appreciate some tips, I would really like to also install the MS dashboard, and possibly switching from EvoX to a more modern dashbord but I am not aware if this is possible with my current mod chip. NOTE: In the picture of the console opened the clock capacitor is still there, I removed it after the picture was taken!
  8. I have a pair of soft modded xboxs I was getting ready for an event. I FTP'd some files over and they glitched out so when I went to test a game the xbox froze for an hour and when restarted I got error 7. All connections are strong so I assume I killed the drive somehow. I have no idea the eeprom or keys or anything like that. I then remembered I had an Aladdin X2 chip laying around. Can I save this xbox by simply installing the Aladdin chip?
  9. A short time back, I had some consoles repaired, upgraded, and refurbished, and the results were so good that I thought it would be good to post about it here, to recommend the company to anyone else needing such work done. All the more so since nowadays I'd imagine that companies who could work on older consoles must be few and far between. I have been a user of the original XBox for more than two decades now, and when I bought it I had it chipped at the same place, and have used the XBox not only to play the XBox's native games, but as an emulation machine (it's range of emulators is very broad, and they are mostly very good), and also as a media centre, though I stopped using it for movies when high defition became commonplace, as the ol' XBox is too slow for that. I still love the XBox for it's native games, and for emulation, though, so I wasn't happy when it developed a video fault a few weeks back. I wasnt aware of anywhere local that could do XBox repairs, but someone recommended a company to me (the company is in the UK, the same as me) via the emuxtras forum (https://www.emuxtras.net/forum/app.php/portal), so I got in touch with them, and after discussing what I wanted, I sent off my faulty, hard modded XBox, my working, unmodded XBox, and my soft-modded Playstation 2. And two weeks later, they arrived back (that time includes the time it took me to spend a day or two deciding what further I wanted done with the consoles). And this is the result: - my faulty XBox's video fault was fixed, it now works perfectly. - both XBoxes were chipped with the ModXo modchip, and the Cerbios BIOS (one of the XBoxes had a modchip, but I went with the new one because of future proofing - for example, now my XBoxes can support up to 16 TB hard drives!). - both XBoxes now have 1 TB hard drives (plus of course the required IDE to SATA converters). - both XBoxes had their RAM doubled to 128 MB. - both of the XBoxes had the hard drives partitioned, and a working dashboard was installed, along with the usual required utilities (DVD2XBox, UnleashX, etc). - both XBoxes had partial recaps, and were internally and externally refurbished. - the Playstation 2 has been refurbished, and it's internal battery has been replaced. And they even replaced a faulty shell part, free of charge! And the bloke I spoke to kept me updated on the work being done, and when I'd received the consoles back, he helped me with my questions about the new BIOS and XBox software (it's been years since I altered the system software on my XBox, so I had no idea what was new). The service was excellent, all told, and the prices were very reasonable, as was their turn-around speed. What also really impressed me were the cosmetic results of the refurbishment, the three consoles, despite being more than two decades old (ish, for my second XBox) all looked brand new, I mean really immaculate. They really look like they've just been unboxed. Basically, I couldn't be more pleased with any aspect of this service. 10. The XBox game Thief Deadly Shadows (Thief 3) has a serious bug. If you select a harder skill setting than 'normal', then when the game performs a load (either loading a save game, or when you reach a load point in the game's levels), then the difficulty would be set back to normal, which removed much of the challenge, as the game's AI was much more alert on higher skill levels. The PC version was fixed by fans, but of course the XBox never received the fix. A few days back, I posted on the Through the Looking Glass forum (https://www.ttlg.com/forums/showthread.php?t=152823) hoping for more information (and also hoping that the problem would be a very easy fix, such as just editing .cfg or .ini files), and (brilliantly!) the author of the fix answered, but I'm not able to do anything with the information. So if anyone proficient with XBox programming could look at the reply, and attempt to get the XBox version of the game fixed, then that would be really good. Thief 3 is a great game, but the difficulty level is really nerfed because of this bug, sadly.
  11. My Xbox is running a 160 GB IDE from 2007 or something. I needed to ask this about 3 years ago, I used Crunchbite's (on Homebrew Discord) 8 GB Etcher image to prepare the new drive then iirc I used the XBox Formatter to make the partitions (which automatically set the cluster size to 16 KB) then I copied all the C:\ drive content from the original 8 GB HDD via FatXPlorer and also transferred some games and homebrew. And at that time when I was using the stock HDD my Xbox was giving me constant 10-11 mb/s on my diy crossover cable connection to my laptop. After I put that new HDD in I didn't notice that right away but the max transfer speeds I get are around 3-7 mb/s on the same crossover ethernet cable. Is it related to the cluster size or is the HDD just bad or on it last legs?
  12. So I kind of wanted to know what there all is that exists for the OG Xbox. Seeing that there are prototype games, classics, Homebrew, chihiro arcade stuff etc. I wanted to know if there is a wiki or a site that lists pretty much everything there is for OG Xbox from games to apps to anything that can run on it. Doesn't have to point out where that specific thing exists but should atleast have basic info for it. Thing is I want to try some of this stuff out but I don't even know if there's more to them.
  13. Hi everyone, I recently purchased my xbox OG, I opened it, cleaned it and replaced the thermal paste. The xbox reads burned games and I noticed it probably has a modchip and a single cable soldered to the motherboard. I would like to ask you kindly, which chip is this exactly? I would like to replace the hard disk with a larger one, since it still has the original one and I would like to be able to play games directly from it, to safeguard the DVD player (a Samsung). How can I proceed? Is it possible to install a bios mod and a dash mod? My xbox still has the original Microsoft dashboard. I thank everyone and apologize for my bad English Link to image gallery https://postimg.cc/gallery/cSfvKk9
  14. As the title says. I would absolutely love for this game to get the 480p/720p treatment. Its a PAL game so doesn't support those resolutions as standard I know there's an NTSC version (Winning Eleven 9) but I have a modded PAL version that has edited stadiums/kits/balls/boots/music/everything and prefer to play that one Now the NTSC version supports 16:9 AND 480p straight outta the box so I'm hoping one of you geniuses can make it happen for the PAL version. I tried the OGXHD app already and had no joy there. 480p would be fantastic, WS and/or 720p would be a bonus.
  15. Soooooooo I started to attempt the 128mb ram mod myself today. I was using a mix of soldering iron and hot air but after painstakingly getting the first chip lined up perfectly, then soldered on, TWICE and then both times it ending up ever so slightly out of line.... I BOTTLED IT, removed the chip, cleaned up and put away all the equipment. I clearly don't have the patience or a steady enough hand to do this mod I am now looking for anyone in the UK who can do this mod for me. I will happily pay for the service. Its a 1.4 console. So no stacking needed. Anyone out there who can be my saviour???
  16. I went to the website and there's a PS1 system link on there under the "Download > Extras" but it seems the links are dead or something. The artwork can still be grabbed on the downloader dash at least. Any help would be great!
  17. Hi I bought on ebay a cheap "1.0 MainBoard" XBOX but turns out the guy put in a 1.6 and forgot to snip the screwpost. Can it be brought back to life or ist it gone for good? Gruß
  18. I recently acquired this Xbox with a 1.0 board and wanted to try and repair it. After opening it up and cleaning it, I noticed the clock cap hanging on by a thread so I plucked that off. I haven't done anything else to the console and the previous owner doesn't know if it was soft or hard modded. I still get the same error from when I first got it which is described in the title. Below I will attach some photos to show off the condition of the motherboard. Thanks in advance for the help!
  19. Hey everyone. So, I find myself in a unique situation. I will try to break down my problem as simply as possible: ::I have an S-Type (small) Original Xbox controller with a bad cable. I only have this one controller. ::I do not have a breakaway cable to connect the controller to the Xbox, BUT I have an Xbox controller port to female USB port cable. (pictured here: https://ibb.co/wJTTYfL ) My question is this: could I desolder the Xbox controller cable from the controller board and solder on a USB cable with a standard type-A (male) USB connector to connect to the Xbox, through the pictured-above female USB port?
  20. Hi there, Is there a method to view screenshots in a gallery format from the xbmc4gamers dashboard similar to XBMC4Xbox? I've been using the screenshot feature in StellarOS and I'd like an easy way to manage and view my screenshots on the Xbox from the dashboard. So far I can view images one by one in Xbmc4gamers if I use the file explorer, but that's not ideal. Specifically I am looking for something that can show many thumbnails at once I'm not sure what was removed in this fork (since this focuses on the game experience), but I see config options in the xml files to <picture> tags. I can add paths there, but it doesn't do anything when I configure it since the XBMC4GAMERS dashboard only shows "program" entries. Unless I'm missing something. The PDF manual doesn't really mention anything about viewing images in this way. Thanks! Edit: or if anyone knows of a gallery app that I can launch to view thumbnails and manage them, that would work as well.
  21. I'm doing a first install of a 2TB HDD and trying to squeeze as many games on it as possible, and hoped that if I could create multiple 256GB (or smaller) partitions it would cut down on cluster size and I'd fit a lot more on it. Is this possible or is the only option a bigger drive?
  22. Hey guys and gals, so anyways I’m just wondering if the original Xbox can ftp to Linux distros (Ubuntu, steamos, Debian)? I was just wondering because I want to transfer files off my steam deck but idk how to transfer them so I’m just asking how I can transfer files from the deck to the Xbox.
  23. I create ROM Hack for original xbox game but it require to patch 29 file! Xdelta and others they only patch 1 file *Note my game is HDD rip (files) not iso
  24. Can XBOX games be read in RAR format or do they need to be ISO format in order to transfer over by QWIX? OR can they be transfered over in another way to FTP and keep in RAR format and the XBOX can read it?
  25. Hello guys, I finished OG XBOX softmod few days ago, thanks for some buddy in forum. Currently, I had another one question, in unleashedX GUI can not change resolution. I tried to search the solution, that should be go back MS dashboard to change, but my question is my unleashedX menu had no MS dashboard this item. I also check C drive, but no MS dashboard files can execute. So, I copy my C drive backup files (before softmod) and execute MS dashboard in unleashedX file explorer, result is show errorcode12, can not enter MS dashboard. Could you help me to how to change high resolution? thank you.
