  1. Hi all, I have been trying to install a Jafar xblast socket edition in my 1.4 xbox with no luck. The xbox boots fine when d0 is disconnected so fairly sure my issue is localised to the LPC. I have gone over my soldering to confirm continuity and voltages I've noted: -Pin 2 I have 1.6k ohms to test point the in the attached diagram but 0.2 ohms to the screw hole ground point. does anyone know where the pin 2 trace runs on the top of the motherboard? -Pin 12 has 12.5 ohms to the test point. I have also checked voltages on the LPC all my pins read correctly except pin 5 reading 3.3v on its first boot then 2.2v and finally 0.15v. Any advice on where to look next would be greatly appreciated.
  2. Hi, I have a 1.4 Xbox here which is doing something interesting. When you turn it on, it shows a green light for a short time, then reboots, and then it reboots 2x and FRAGs. It spins up the hard drive when first turning on but after reboot it doesn't spin it up anymore. This started happening after I tried to upgrade the RAM and put one chip in (in hindsight the chip was probably faulty). After it not booting I removed the chip I installed, and now it does this. And yes, i checked for bridged pass like a 1000 times. This is happening with an Xblast flashed Aladdin modchip. Other modchips go straight to FRAG. Has anyone seen this? Attached is a video of this behaviour (green and orange flashing is fine, I have no video cable plugged in. With it plugged in, the light is solid green.) 1241546483_VID_20240701_153110(1).mp4
  3. hi all im new here nice to meet you all i have a crystal and a few other hardmodded systems (all bought 2nd hard after MODDED) and i was told the crystal was working unfortunately ive been scammed for a big amount by the end of this i just want one good xbox (with the crystal shell) with upgraded storage ive ordered an IDE / Sata adapter, plan to buy a 4tb drive tommorow is there anything else i need to 1) swap the working hard modded / tsop flashed system into a crystal case 2) not hurt myself witih the live PSU? 3) upgrade the drive and how do i change the bios to make sure it supports 4tb or higher? (cerbios iirc?) not sure what chip any of my xboxs are using as i havent opened any of them up, but ill likely choose the most silent sounding xbox and just swap the board from that. (or try to repair the crystal if theres a way to diagnose the apparently working system from FRAG) i have no idea what revisions my systems are either ie 1.6 1.0 1.1 1.2 1.3 1.4 1.5 etc? thankyou!
  4. Hi. I was just finishing a successful repair to a 1.0 with a bad psu. Replaced psu, replaced clock cap, flashed Aladdin with Cerbios, updated hdd. Everything was working fine, dashboards, games, etc. Closed up the case and as a final thought decided to increase fan speed using Xblast OS. Loaded Xblast, set fan speed, hit reboot and... Frag with Christmas lights! Any ideas?
  5. hi so i have an xbox 1.0 with a xecuter 2.6 chip installed i get an error 16 on boot but when i try to boot truhexen 2020 i end up with a frag light (might have orange too) after it displays "Linux" any ideas to boot it? has a thompson drive btw
  6. I bought a 1.6 xbox with plans to modchip it. The first time I booted it I got a FRAG, then after turning it off and on it was fine. I tried booting a few times and everything worked, so I chalked the first frag up to disuse for years. I opened the xbox to clean it in preperation for the modchip, make sure caps were fine and all. The metal shield was pretty rusty so following some advise from other posts here I sanded it and painted it with Rustoleum. Other than that, I didn't do anything to the rest of the box. Since putting it back together it FRAGs every boot. Did I cover a grounding connection and need to clear that? Unsure of what move to make. Here are some shots of the board. https://imgur.com/a/iuc8fc1
  7. Hello guys, This post will be somewhat long because I want to include as much relevant information as possible. I have a v1.1 NTSC-U Xbox console, which I purchased brand new back in 2003. I modded it with a Xecuter 2.0 Pro mod chip sometime around 2004. It worked great for 2-3 years with no issues whatsoever. Then, out of nowhere, it started to intermittently FRAG. Sometimes it would boot just fine, but other times the Xbox would flash red and green and require me to reboot it 10 times in a row before it would boot to dashboard. Also, sometimes the Xbox would boot just fine and work for 2-3 hours straight and then, for no apparent reason, lose the video output. Interestingly enough, it would lose the video output only, but not audio. I tried different BIOS versions as well as different banks on the Xecuter 2.0 mod chip, but to no avail. After all that, I decided that it was too much trouble and just stopped using this FRAGging Xbox. Fast forward to 2020, and I decided to connect this old v1.1 Xbox to my TV and test it out. It worked great for the first two weeks, but then started FRAGging just like 14 years ago. It behaves exactly the same way as it used to – it might boot just fine 10 times in a row, or it might FRAG 20 times in a row. I reflashed the BIOS again, but to no avail. I also noticed a few more things. First, the removal of the DVD drive and/or hard drive does not seem to affect the FRAGging at all. The console can still FRAG with both drives completely disconnected. Also, if the Xbox boots to dashboard with no issues, I can easily make it lose the video output by knocking on the table on which the Xbox is sitting or by touching the AV cable. If I reboot the console immediately after that, the Xbox would usually FRAG. Bad AV cable, right? Nope. I tried four different AV cables/adapters and this is happening with all of them. All said cables work perfectly with my v1.0 Xbox and no amount of knocking on the table or touching the cables can make this second Xbox lose the video output. Here is the list of AV cables that I tried with the same result (i.e. intermittent FRAGging on my v1.1 Xbox and no issues on my v1.0 Xbox): 1. OEM Microsoft Composite cable 2. OEM Microsoft AV pack 3. OEM Microsoft HD AV pack 4. Third party HD AV pack Here are a few more things that I did: * Sprayed the AV connector in the Xbox with DeoxIT D5 and inspected it for damage * Reflowed all solder joints on the AV connector, twice * Inspected the traces on the motherboard near the AV connector Here is a list of things that I could still do (but would rather not): * Stop relying on the AV connector. Instead, solder the wires to it and add component video and coaxial audio jacks to the back of the Xbox console. Unfortunately, there is no guarantee that this will solve the FRAG issue. This Xbox was used by an adult and was never dropped or abused. At this point, I am not sure what else I can do besides soldering wires to the AV port and adding audio and video output jacks to the back of the Xbox. Does anyone have any idea of what might be happening? P.S. The pictures of the motherboard are attached to this post.
  8. Hey there, I have an Xecuter 2.0 Pro which I removed from a dead Xbox. It was soldered directly to the LPC pads. I put it in my TSOPed 1.0 (pin header) and all I can get it to do is FRAG. According to an old install tutorial I found it is supposed to FRAG when the chip is on and your D0 is wired correctly, and I'm fairly certain that connection is good. My trouble is that the DIP switches don't change anything. If I have that chip plugged into the board, it frags no matter what. This is a really old chip and it has an external LPT programming interface. Should I try to hook that up while its FRAGing? Has anyone every installed one of these who might be able to give me some insight? Thanks!
  9. I have a xbox 1.0 here that fragged the day I got it. I thought "oh HDD probably died I'll just install a modchip". Well after installing said modchip I'm still met with 3 power cycles and the red and green lights with no error codes. Ive checked my soldering, checked that D0 is grounded, checked all caps, I cleaned the board after removing the clock cap, inspected traces for any signs of trace rot. Are there any caps that could go that just wouldn't show any sign of swelling or leaking that could cause issues?
  10. Hello, I have two xboxes, version 1.2 and 1.4 in both of them after the start Frag. They do not have a tsop. In one there was a chip for a spider web with cromwell, I soldered the chip and the console got Frag. In the second one, however, it worked but after replacing the past, it stopped competing. I tried to run both aladdin but it does not help, any ideas ?
