  1. Hello all! I've been tinkering around with my X3 OG Xbox to get it ready for Insignia, and the main issue I'm having is that every time I try to access the original MS Dashboard - I can hear the astronaut/space background sound, so I know it's *there*, but it's a black screen. I believe this has SOMETHING to do with the resolution my xbox is running in: I am using an XOSVP/component cable and the xbox is set to 480p/720p+1080i disabled. IIRC the MS Dashboard is... 480i? Could that be why I only get a black screen when trying to access the Xbox Live account settings? I managed to get it to appear after messing around with a bunch of settings and hauling a scart TV out and connecting it via a scart connector, but as this is a huge hassle, is there some way to access this dashboard without screwing up all my resolution settings? I see a "Modded Microsoft Dashboard 5960" available for download via XBMC4GAMERS but I'm afraid to download that in case it screws up xbmc4gamers. Anyone able to help please?
  2. I recently chipped a Xbox Rev 1.0, for some reason when I play legit discs on my Xbox it doesn't freeze, but when I play games on the HDD in particular Oddworld Stranger's Wrath it freeze after five minutes in-game however if you press the eject button it goes back to dashboard safely. I don't know if it's botched solder on my modchip, overheating, or caps.
  3. Hey all, new to the scene here. Last time I owned an Xbox was over 10 years back and I’d softmodded that console myself at the time. I bought a second hand Xbox last week though, opened it up and checked and it has an Aladdin Advanced modchip installed. On boot, it will load up blue Xbox logo before loading the standard dash. Holding the power button still loads to the standard dashboard as well so my guess is that something was reset to standard settings or the original owner just messed up and didn’t know what to do from here on. I’m looking to install a new dashboard (not sure which one yet, doing research on them) but is there anything I should be wary of if the original owner has done something to the internal files? beyond this I’m looking to them upgrade the hard drive once that is done. Is there any advice or warnings that I should know about before taking this on? Thanks!
  4. Hello everyone, got an xbox classic v1.1 with an aladdin advanced chip but the ring is always red, also on boot the dvd drive spins up really fast twice how can I fix it? Tried flashing different bioses and changing the ring color in settings but nothing.
  5. Hi all, so I've just done a really dumb/bad thing and was hoping to get some advice please... Putting a different HD into my modded box, the X3 chip wasn't booting (it sometimes doesn't sit right and has to be wiggled) and stupidly, without thinking, I tried moving the disc drive unit on top of it, while the unit was still plugged in... One loud pop, a flash on the power board and a blown trip switch in my flat later: the Xbox is now dead... :-( So my question is: am I screwed? Or can I swap out the power supply board for a replacement one? I have 2 spare working Xboxes in the cupboard - so could I just replace the whole power supply board? Or is that gonna be "way too easy"... (I'm guessing they were a few different types of power supply boards back in the day: the attached photo is the one in my modded box...)
  6. Hi there, so today I upgraded my Xbox’s hard drive to a 2TB WD blue and in unleash X, it’s showing just 500gb available to use as storage. But when I set up the hard drive using hexen, XBpartioner let me choose 900gb partitions for F and G. Is there something I’ve done wrong to not allow the hard drives full capacity? My Xbox had a duo x2 chip and I’m on my bank that has evox bios installed. I didn’t install this chip so I’m unsure of what version of Evox this has. any help in much appreciated. Thanks in advance
  7. Located in Sweden but I ship worldwide. Have four original XBOX base units that I need sell to clear some room here http://www.amibay.com/images/smilies/smile.gif I have replaced the harddrives in all of them with bigger harddrives and flashed the BIOS with a custom BIOS. All of the units work flawlessly EXCEPT the DVD drives in them which is a common problem with the original XBOX, sometimes they have problem ready discs or close or eject the tray. This can be an easy fix, there are tons of helpful tips on the internet to solve this by for example cleaning and lubricating them, replacing the drive belt or calibrating the laser. The units and prices are as follows: XBOX unit #1 Version 1.6 SmartXX V3 chip with custom BIOS (can hold several BIOS'es) 500GB IDE Harddrive €60 XBOX unit #2 Version 1.0 TSOP'ed with custom BIOS 80GB IDE Harddrive €35 XBOX unit #3 Version 1.1 TSOP'ed with custom BIOS 500GB IDE Harddrive €45 XBOX unit #4 Version 1.6 Softmodded 1TB SATA HDD €50 All the units are in good condition for it's age, I can provide you with pictures and screenshots if there's a need. Buyers pays for postage and shipping.
  8. Hello, I upgraded my chipped 1.6 Xbox 120GB hard drive to a 2TB... since I opened the Xbox I took the opportunity to clean it... the Xbox is chipped with a Matrix chip and it has the Xecuter 2 bios (15 years old)... I would like to know if there's a way for softmoding the Xbox and taking out the chip. I do not have the original hard drive. The reason is that after so many years it looks like the chip is kind of bending up and the pogo pins contact with the motherboard are not as good as before... thank you in advance for your help! next step is test a more modern dashboard as I have been using the UIX dashboard because it looked like the original Xbox dashboard... I thing I want to test XBMC4Gamers. What the difference between XBMC4Gamers and XBMC-Emustation? THANK YOU and have a good day! Gerry
  9. Hi! I’ve recently bought and repaired a (very rusty and water damaged) Xbox. After cleaning it up, removing the clock cap and galvanizing, painting and taping the RF shield I chipped it with an Aladdin 4032 mod chip. Now that my wife is sufficiently annoyed with me spending a lot of time on this, is there an easy way to TSOP flash my v1.1 Xbox without removing my mod chip? I want to get it done now in case the mod chip fails in the future. The original hard drive is very much worthless as is the original DVD drive. I booted Hexen using a PC dvd drive just fine after chipping it. I just want to make sure I’ll be able to use any hard drive in it without the mod chip in case it breaks.
