  2. https://www.ebay.ca/itm/Neoya-X2VGA-VGA-adapter-for-original-Xbox-rare/283320931496?hash=item41f73e54a8:g:GQgAAOSwXHxcJ-VL
  3. Based on this thread there was a request for the pcsx v21 redux/reloaded that i linked to a while ago, i wasnt the op so i didnt upload it to that thread... @KaosEngineer @Frank D'Agostino @dizM0nkey Attached is the version i got from TIZ (i think it's gone un-altered) just an interesting set all pre-config to run well on xbox. no .bin (rom) files are included here, just the .cue, seems to be a set focused on 2d games. you need to rename your rom to match cue. psx4xbox.7z
  4. @XC-3730C RESPECT THE SHARE. THANK YOU
  5. dont quote me on this because i clearly cant keep my crap straight, but if i remember correctly most emulators already register as being patched for the ram, or the patcher states "no patch executed" or something along those lines meaning the software is already looking for (or open to) the extra ram. also, just to answer your other question... well i dont really know. but i believe FBL does use it. subtle improvement. in a confined space such as the original xbox tho. any improvement is worth your time. especially for a guy like yourself, modder extraordinaire. you deserve the best. so go and DIY.
  6. THIS^^^ I had forgot about this, 'twas a dark cold night, and the lpc header removal had gone awry....... ya, that post saved me one time. totally have a look at that.
  7. *Emulators (PS1, N64, MAME, GBA, SNES, NES, Genesis and any other) run smoother and run a lot of games the 64mb Xbox cannot. this is slightly misleading. the emulators benefit. but i haven't seen many additional games outside of arcade emulation becoming playable. i find the majority of emulation has been extremely well configured for the stock console. i was even slightly withdrawn from my raving when i dropped my n64 set on a stock console.... it runs it just as good, the difference is almost imperceptible. MIND YOU, my configuring of emulators is low level understanding, so maybe there is more john has done. *Video player runs clean and extra RAM allows playback in HD. which video player is that? what are the format specs of the file being played? from what i've experienced there is a marginal increase in fluidity, without getting granular on file specs, i'd say this is mostly incorrect. and to use the abbreviation "HD" is flat out wrong. even the 1.4ghz cpu consoles seem to have a rough time with 720p, 1080 is entirely out of the question i double checked my definition of HD with wikipedia for this, "High-definition video is video of higher resolution and quality than standard-definition. While there is no standardized meaning for high-definition, generally any video image with considerably more than 480 vertical lines (North America) or 576 vertical lines (Europe) is considered high-definition." NOT to be negative John7272, but those are the facts, if you have information to the contrary, please share it. EDIT : I found some self contradicting evidence that suggests im out of line regarding video playback, https://www.xbmc4xbox.org.uk/wiki/XBMC_Features_and_Supported_Formats#Xbox_supported_video_formats_and_resolutions analyze the chart describing supported formats and resolutions I would never spend the time converting media to have it play smoothly in HD on an xbox. I find the majority of my media in H.264 HD not H.263, but hey. technically.... i was wrong. Practically, i still feel right because i dont think the ram impacts performance to the extent of making majority of HD content viewable on this console. Also (based on technicality) the console can already handle HD on stock ram. END OF EDIT All in all; The prospect of upgrading ram is so daunting for an electronics rookie (me) that if you are successful...... the fact that your performance gain is only minimal hardly matters. this is probably my favorite part of the ram upgrade xbmc handles the hefty skins alot better, and just does things better. alot less crashing.
  8. what he said^^ if your aladin install is good you'll see an "evox" symbol on boot... omg............ i think top left??? they come pre-flashed with a bogus M8+ bios tho, so dont freak out if your partitions are screwy, just re-flash and all should be well.
  9. i have 128, its not rave worthy. but its a bit better. it also unlocks the sega chihiro games (meh) I GUESS emulation is better... but not really? there are more games available to 128 boxes, arcade games mainly (i say mainly, but i think its only arcade). on a side note, i would really love to see a "128mb only" rom list/downloadable pack, would be nice.
  10. if you are the gil bates of this forum, i'd be like the jverage aoe... no sense made means no cents made..... WELCOME!!!! may your soldering iron maintain a steady temp.
  11. ok, cool score noble im very conflicted because i like to start immediately correcting bios issues and dashboard issues. but honestly, the drives that are in these are getting old fast. so cloning immediately isn't the worst advice, but you should find out if its softmodded, because if the clone fails you may have to read the eeprom to continue.... which requires hardware intervention I dont know much, but ill say that sounds like a modchip. personally id be cracking the case open and having a look immediately. look near the left hand side of the board (this is where the lpc port is) this photo shows an aladdin XT installed on what appears to be a v1.6 xbox. (the red board with the red led is the modchip, it is plugged into the lpc port using pin header) if you want detailed facts of hardware snap a picture of the main board and someone may chime in. to access the hdd, you need to do so via ftp IMHO this is a commonly recommended pc application to manage the xbox storage over the network I use flash fxp, just because thats where life has taken me.... if you need help with networking etc, just ask. below is a link to chimp chimp is a suite of tools relating to your xbox, this version is very streamlined and works very well. https://github.com/Rocky5/Chimp261812 this is the best release of chimp and although i have been documented using other versions, i can 100% confirm this is what you need to be using to make the hdd clone. tutorial below others can guide you on building a drive from scratch etc.... i always just find it easiest to clone and start updating everything. The dvd drive likely needs a new drive belt for the disc tray to eject properly... searching the forums gives ideas to recondition the old one. I find myself using the drive at an absolute minimum, especially with a hard mod. (my console is slimmed without a dvd drive and i can always add one on the cable for any flashing needs... which brings me to my next point) I haven't tried hexen 18 which forlorn penguin updated from 17, although i'd recommend taking HEXEN 2018, instead of 2017 for obvious reasons of being most current. (i simply havent had the opportunity to burn a new copy being the year 2018 A.D none of my hardware needs/uses dvd drives, so burning is an unusual procedure) You need to flash the bios accordingly, your decision is based on the tsop size/modchip/board revision you are using, so before you flash you need to dash to the stash of knowledge and get your facts straight about your xbox. v1.0/1.1 have a bigger tsop size accommodating larger bios files etc etc, so get clear on hardware. I',m getting ahead of myself, i dont KNOW you have a hardmod, so i'll end here,
  12. welcome to the party Talltwat! plenty of time to stay and chat i hope. this party is still rocking!!! Lets here more about that TSOP., great guide here DONT WEAR THIS IF YOUR OLDER THAN 1.6
  13. every Canadian, all day today... including me last night when i posted this.
  14. I wanna hear some stories from the buyers and sellers of pre-loaded HDD and consoles. why do people do this? is this actually sustainable? its alot of work to build your own, i get that. But once you have it, its simple to clone. Again, there is a demand, a proper 2tb build can take... well a long time. When do the authorities step in and take you away? Is anyone aware of what can happen to the people selling? I'm not. I am seeing some crazy numbers on certain ebay accounts and the like around the web, some of it is clearly the product of elbow grease and ingenuity... nothing rare or collectible. (some a combination) ESPECIALLY the HDD guys, props to the work and all that, but you are in it for money... or the friends? do you feel legitimate in your "business" does it ever catch up? Are the big players groups of people? do they move in silence? DO THEY ROLL SOLO>>>??? Fascinating stuff.
  15. HERE IS AN XBOX MODDERS FAVORITE CAP NOT TO WEAR. THANK YOU, I'LL JUST LOG OUT NOW.
  16. places that look like this are purgatory for the early revision consoles. get out there, find them all, resurrect, and de-cap them find them, mod them, share them,
  17. great story, i haven't done any mods for people.... but i assure you, all those people... they know im a twit!!
  18. Check the link by ripdajacker and the solution that was arrived at on assemblergames. Exciting stuff.
  19. ancient junk my arse. coinops may have moved to a new platform, but the lifeblood is still there, still being supported, and still a viable option for many retro gamers that prefer plug and play.
