  1. I agree that Unleash is probably resetting your settings. FWIW, I use XBMC4XBOX and just set it to "default" which is looking to the MS dashboard for network settings and never changes them. If you are able and willing, look into it. It's a old dash, but it's awesome and does everything you really need a dash to do. :)

5 MINUTES? Jesus! Done this a few times, have you? Lol. That would take me all fucking day. I think the real struggle for me would be resoldering to the board, because I'm not used to doing soldering that precise. Although, once I was done, i would indeed feel a great deal of satisfaction accomplishing something that a lot of people just shit their pants even thinking about doing. I don't know how I will ever realistically do a RAM upgrade, other than making sure I have the right tools... and a lifetime supply of flux.

I look at this post now and I realize how far I have come in such a short time...

Thank you @sweetdarkdestiny for being supportive at a time when I needed it. You were a great help :)

Sorry for deviating from the topic. 😛

That build is so heavily modified I dont know.  Maybe you could edit the guisettings.xml network settings in the userdata folder?  but I dont know if that would help.  Just throwing out a thought.

What is the dash? Is it similar to origins? If I had that problem I would probably just wipe out te dash and start over with something I know works and the just re-link all the shortcuts and what not. It may be more trouble than it's worth though in this case. I wish I knew. I've yet to try this build...

I'm doing some testing, if a bank is not flashed properly i could restore just changing to other bank

I have some modchips too anyway, thankx

Was just makin a joke, my apologies. 😛 Well if it's just for fun and experimental, then lets see if we can do it! Didn't mean to make it sounds like a dumb idea. If you can pull it off, you would probably be the first! So you're saying theoretically, you could boot XBlast from one bank and try flashing again if something goes wrong. But if XBlast detects a certain chip type, it will probably try to flash a full 1MB again not just 256, so you would have to keep that in mind. But I'm sure you know that. :)

Hi guys now im recently splitting 1.0 bios to 4 banks, i backup bios with evox but gives me 1024 size backup

I know that with raincoat it doesnt autosize to 1024kb but the problem i dont know how to use it

    Many questions...

    1 could i split the 1024 bios to 4x 256kb bios? or 2x 512kb ones?

2 can i backup 256kb or 512kb bios size (tsop splitted one)

3 is there any option to have a 256kb backup of 1.0 1.1 bios xbox?

last, is there any option or tutorial to get raincoat working? or to make backup with raincoat?

If you're talking about 4 DIFFERENT bioses, that sounds like a lot of work to avoid buying a chip. lol.

Ohhh maybe its this. As when i tried pulling the ide wire out of the cheap sata to ide adapter the little plastic part of the ide cable snapped off. Nothing happened to this wire itself but the plastic thing that holds it together. Maybe could be this?

    Could be.

Well my temps under load are around 50 degrees? Iv got artic 5 thermal paste and going to reapply, if thats the case would reapplying new thermal paste fix the issue?

50 C I think is totally fine. If that's your temp then I wouldn't worry too much. Your Thermal glue is working fine and I wouldn't worry about thermal pasted since that's the case. That shit is bulletproof, really.

It says in the description "just put it in your cart and buy it. You will not regret it" lmfao.. Yeah when your house goes into foreclosure from an xbox youll regret it

... Wait, so he ISN'T trolling? What kind of millionaire xbox collector have you guys ever heard of?

"Just add to cart and buy it you will not regret it." " Just click and buy it." - Bro, it's 100,000 dollars. I don't think a bank will even approve a transaction that large through ebay. That's a hell of an impulse purchase.

"If I want to take less than my asking price I will lower the price." HAHAHAHAHAHAHA...WOW. I think you'll be doing that if you want to actually sell it.

This poor man is suffering from "I-know-what-I-have-disease".

Okay so, i lifted d0 then booted to a softmod from stock bios, (which worked nicely). Then tried re-grounding d0 and flashing but evox still only saw the built in bios chip to flash, not my aladdin.

so then, its a 1.4 so i soldered the two pads needed to unlock tsop write enable. Booted into my softmod again and flashed the udma2 2.3.1 beta cerbios to my tsop.

all went well and i’m back in business.

the aladdin is still connected but without d0 it’s like it isn’t there.

at some point i’ll buy a usb flasher and rescue my aladdin with sst chip for my 1.6 (after rebuild)…

Thanks for being there for moral support and advice!

Wait... your HDD is softmodded? Since your TSOP is flashed and you are hardmodded, I would run an installer disc and reformat that drive. Back up any goodies you have on there and restore a normal dashboard structure. Having a softmod and a hardmod can cause major problems for you at some point.

Also, instead of a programmer, I would buy an XBlast Aladdin or an OpenXenium. You will spend probably less money and you will have a chip that you can boot to the chip's OS with and flash any bios of your leisure without a programmer. Stock Aladdins are a nightmare to deal with.

@dtomcat Harddrive locked, I don't know. I installed the HDD 2002. I don't have an EEPROM Backup, never thought I need this.

My soldering stick has 30W with max 380 degrees an I used this Flux

    IMG_8274.jpg

In my experience, this liquid flux is REALLY not ideal for LPC soldering. Find yourself a bottle of Amtech flux. It is MUCH better and will behave more in the way that flux traditionally does.

the HDD is not the original HDD, i used it with executer 1.0. i Tryed to install the original one, but unfortunately this device is broken. FatXplorer cant' recognize it either.

Like @dtomcat suggested, do NOT use the D0 on the chip. It doesn't work on Aladdins. You are probably booting the stock bios on the TSOP and not booting from the chip at all. Ground the mobo d0 to a ground pad or a screwhole ground pad. THEN try to boot. Don't wire up the chip at all.

Thx for the tip. Before my flash and change of HDD I had no issues with ftp.

I am not emotionally attached to my modchip (which is an X-Changer v2.5), but I am not the soldering kind of guy so would like to leave it as is.

I also remember that one was able to flash the X-Changer with evolutionX if a line was added in its .ini. Is that correct? If not am I doomed to use Cerbios v2.3.2 alpha UDMA2 for eternety?

And, finally, why did the X-Changer OS disappear or can't I just not access it? Shouldn't a flash leave it untouched?

Again, thx for all your valuable input.

I would ask @KaosEngineer about the OS on the chip as he is very well familiar with old chips.  I assume that the Cerbios flash overwrote the bank that XchangerOS was stored on and left the other one untouched/blank. Old chips like the X2 are kinda like that. A pain. Modern modchips sore their OS on flash banks that are not really supposed to be accessible except by certain means, like the OpenXenium. I don't think the XChanger has that benefit. Cerbios is a GOOD bios for what it's worth and it's what we're all using, UDMA 2 Isn't so bad for now until we get this remedied.

Edit: This post contains inaccurate information and I am embarrassed and ashamed.

Maybe to clarify: Pressing the eject button starts Cerbios safemode with Unleash X (only today did it show the safemode icon). The power button starts XBMC4gamers. The X-Changer OS apparently had a quickboot option when pressing the eject button w/o opening the tray (very convenient in my opinion).

I have read somewhere that flashing an X-Changer w/ Xblast etc. is not possible. So how can I flash it then if no X-Changer OS present?

BTW (and might be unrelated): Having FTP issues. One day it works, then suddenly slow, then after FileZilla update back up again and then today no connection at all. Seems I have a FTP poltergeist in my box.

I also have weird issues with FTP just like tht. I have no idea why. FTP is sketchy on the OG.

BTW you should have no issues with UDMA 6. I am not sure if the advantage is there with spinning platters, but I don't see why it wouldn't be. I always flash it with my Startech boxes.

... Unless you're attached to that X-Changer cuz it's old, you may want to consider upgrading your chip. One that can at least run XBlastOS. OpenXeniums are nice and these types of chips are both a LOT easier to deal with and are able to store OSes that can flash the chip with ease through multiple means.

Sooo..... chinese IDE 80 way cable to sata adapter (Master jumper available and enabled)... "aladdin advance" modchip with SST chip. 2TB drive yada yada... been working fine for years. with Evox

Wanted Cerbios because... y'know - new toysnstuff....

Flashed the default 2.3.1 Beta - All working well - lovely stuff. Then... I thought I'd try the one with UDMA4 on the end.

Now - no video output. At all. my TVs all say (no signal)... This is with component and with composite.

Green lights come on on power on - flashing if I push the eject button to turn on. (I heard there was a "safe mode" udma2). But alas no video.

Did my flash go bad? It seemed to complete the flash just fine in EvolutionX flasher for both the standard 2.3.1 Beta, and for the "UDMA4" version. But dead now.

    Any ideas?

zero cost option I guess is remove the modchip and TSOP flash (I think it's a 1.4 board definitely not 1.6)? Or try to get a disc to load hexen 2021??? the DVD drive seems to try to open (I can force it with the little pokey hole thing - the eject rubber band is dry)...

Or do I have to buy a chip flasher... wanna avoid money spend if possible! lol!

    Thanks folks!

That sounds like a coma boot. Like the flash is being partially read.
