  1. Waste of time Snappy. He didn't even understand that nulling the dvd drive key on a 360 is not even needed to connect it to PC or an old xbox (if possible). The DVD drive key of the 360 drive is in the 360's nand which get compared by the 360. So you can basicly use the drive on every PC without nulling the key. There are several ways to do it. He should may do his homework first, However, I will not discourage him, why should I but, he's running blind around not lissening to anyone who tells him " that ain't work". And simply thats the problem with him. He can swim so he can swim around the world - So he thinks. So lets watch him doing until he is willing to listen and learn. However. I wish him luck. He will more than need it
  2. Karen? LÖL. Bud, that just shows how childish you are and how ignorant. So I will lay back and enjoy it to see you fail even you will never admit it. blub blub blub....
  3. Right, the point with he yellow wire applies only to any other pc DVD drive. But again, on the XBox site nothing checks for the number and the xbox isn't even able to tell the drive something about the key. So nulling it is yeah - more or less. So you would need, if passoible or needed at all, to remove the entire check if for it if the DVD drives waits for commends. I simply think it's just in the firmware of the xbox but who am I. And yes, there is a programmer for 360 drives and I have both of the xecuter versions here. (Bad behavior on my side modding 360 as well). And yes, the drive DVD firmware is there but, you know, how you like to flash it to soming whcih isn't able to do anthing with it? The HL drive firmware works on LG drives because of the fact that the controllers are more or less the same (Same for the Samsung mods with samsung firmware) and that the panasonic chips which are on those drives are famous for that they are (Naughty Panasonic.). And a little hint, you don't need your caps, because the firmware is also on my installer so yeah.... And the USB thing, forget it. It will never work until you find a way to rewrite the xbox os. There is no driver attached for it for the controller ports which are just and only for controller and usb sticks, no matter how ard you try. And tbh. who wants an usb 1.1 speed (for real) DVD when he can simply play from hdd? Let me make a guess here. 1 of 1.000.000 ppl. And even that 1 person (Probably you) will do it 1 time and after that never ever again. DVD becomes more and more useless simply because of the fact of fatxplorer and anyone can mod an xbox without it. Game DVD's are also die so why? If I need a drive that badly, I hook up a PC Drive for a short run and fine or buy an laser for the samsung or hl drive on ali & co or I buy an replacement xbox for 5-10 bucks. You put more into it to find a solution for something no one realy has a problem with. Would it be nice? Maybe. Is it worth it under any circumstances? ( Let me thing super duper hard) - No.
  4. Mainly I prefere to say nothing but, you can't use 360 drives - especially not from the slim's or e's which both would need a full unlocked replacement PCB. And the 360 drives are SATA anyway. That being said, you would need to wirde up the yellow cable to the PCB of the 360 drive as well. And thee is nothing on/in the OGXBox which reads any ID of the drive. Thats an 360 feature. On the OGXBox side just the HDD is looked through the eeprom in the xbox so, "nulling" the 360 DVD drive key will gain nothing. And ofc coding a new/hacked custom firmware - well .... Your best bet is an old PC ide drive with panasonic controller. And these are also going to die.... Finaly I'm not to sure what you think an external drive will do different. You could not hook these up to a USB port on the xbox if you should think that.
  5. Sure. Grab the Tab and move it into a folder in your favorit browser. :)
  6. Well.... Basicly I meant soldering is the way to go. Daves original sig says " Softmodding is like masturbating ... " and according to the topic and the fact that we talked about wires and paint I slightly changed the sig to " Using wires or paint is like masturbating .... ".
  7. No, you don't need to clone the bios. The Aladdin-Blast has 1 x 512kb and 2 x 256kb. On one of the 256kb banks is XBlast already and on one of the other banks is Cerbios. Here is a video how he makes them and close to the end you see the chip in action :
  8. Why not just flash the TSOP? I would say, that ModzvilleUSA has some Aladdin/Aladdin-XBlast chips. OR as far as I'm aware @ComputerBootersells OpenXenium chips.
  9. Well, I personality don't try to avoid soldering, why should I? I totaly love soldering and I'm always up to challange my self. It is/was basicly just another way to show the OP and others it can be done in case of a missing pad or even as an main way if they don't have conductive paint on hand (like me) or an soldering iron or didn't feel confident enough to solder. It's always good to have options right? And when you see someone doing things it's mainly easyer for you to make thing on your own by copying what you see. Finaly I would not realy say it's better using wires over paint since I never used paint my self however, we had at least one user here messing up using paint and I'm sure there are some more out there. But I'm also sure the one or the other is able to mess up using wires. So everthing is coming down to what you consider is the best way for you. At the end you could grab Dave's sig and say " Using wires or paint is like masturbating, It gets the job done but it's nothing like the real thing".
  10. I do not own conductive paint so I would need to go and buy some which would take up round about ~2 hours. Placing the wires took me 20 seconds overall. However, that wasn't the point why I made the video and the additional pics for the 1.0/1.1. It's basicly just a proof of concept and an alt way to flash the TSOP or consider it as last resort if you burned off a pad and you are not able to solder to the trace it self or the via. Finaly I would consider it as noob proof as long as you secure the wires and you have a multimeter on hand.
  11. TSOP flashing without soldering (Link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qe0fPiAMJQ8 ) : For the 1.0/1.1 versions, which also have TSOP points on the bottom side please check out this page : https://imgur.com/a/nSdsir5
  12. He ripped a pad, not the via before the pad so flashing the TSOP using some awg wire fitted through the vias is 101% no problem. I bett (like always) a pack premium coffee. But if you don't belive me, let me know and I rip a both off an xbox and then flashing the TSOP just just for the lols and for the giggles.
  13. If you are fine with just flashing it once with Cerbios for example you are totaly able to do it on your own using some awg 30 wire like shown in the picture above . After that simply remove the cables and your're fine. However, you would need to do so again if you like flash a different bios which I think is not needed (only if a cerbios update gets released and there is something you need/want). After that you can do what ever you like cuz there is not realy any other down side other than bridging the points again on a reflash. OR you tape down the wires so they will "never ever" move or slip out of the vias. And for temps and tips it realy comes down what job you do and what iron/station you use. For replacing caps a large tip (3.8mm) and temps around 330°C (In my case) is fine. For TSOP points I use a 1.5mm tip and 270°C. But again, that realy comes down to what station you have, which kind of solder you use ect. (lead free solder would not even flow on those low temps). And to make things even easyer you could use some wire to bridge the points when soldering instead of trying to "solder air" (Guess that the right term for just flowing solder over onto 2 pad till they bridge).
  14. I'm personaly not a fan of conductive paint. We had user here messing thing up with it. What also would work though is a strain of wire which can be used bridging the vias however when doing it this way you need to make sure not to bridge to the metal housing. 15. This one made my day. Why do you think it's a mistake using flux? I would say you made the mistake of soldering way to hot. Looks like you ripped one pad off the board, hard to say with all the mess on the board. However, above that pad is a via which you someone can solder to and solder it to either the left pad below 7D10 or in case that one is faulty as well, to left side of the resistor R7D9.

  19. Took me 2 sec to find a copy on google. However, a little fun fact. The repair guide is on the OGXBox Installer among other useful PDF's.
  20. Check the folder links on the first page: https://1fichier.com/dir/mX1kipIz https://mega.nz/folder/xUl13A4B#d_RMbhNrNA81QhgwoaUv4g Cerbios installer? There are no tools which can setup a Cerbios HDD on the XBox. So the only thing is the bios it self which can be flashed and C & E as usual but for the rest you have to stick with FatXplorer and my guess is, that this will be the only option for ever.
  21. When you go from softmod to a hardmod you should setup C and E anyway or you re-config the partitions on the PC (What ever you prefere). Nulling a HDD key doesnt make to much of seens for chip modded xboxes. And if you had Insignia running on your softmod with a not nulled key and now you go and null the key, mod chip it or both, you have to register your console again. So way more troulbe as needed and not just for you, for the Insignia team as well.
  22. If the HDD is unlocked, it does not matter if the key is nulled especially not when using a modchip.
  23. In case you didn't has locked the new HDD to the "dead" xbox you can simply swap it over. If the HDD is locked, you need the HDD key from the old xbox to unlock the HDD first. For that you need to read the old eeprom from the old xbox. Another way would be to swap over the entire eeprom. And you don't need to setup the HDD again when swapping them. Here are some ppl. around who mod consoles. It would how ever help to post your location.
  24. 22 partitions. 20 of which what 1TB/2TB? Is there even enough 480p porn videos on the interweb to fill up that much space?
  25. No label - No buy. It's simple as that. I personaly would aim for a 1.6b xbox which in most cases have HL drives made in 2004 instead of buying a 2001 Samsung. Or a LG8164b which is also a nice drive and can be found as NOS for cheap.
