  1. I finally got my RF shield restored. I went with metal plating instead of painting. Below are some before and after photos. Unfortunately the before photos are with the case on but you can still see the difference. Apparently the original finish was not metal plated, but some kind of metallic paint. When the RF shield was placed into the rust/paint removal solution the original finish came off instantly. A couple things to note. Although the rust has been removed, the pitting of the metal remains visible. I was warned about this before hand. The inside corners on the bottom piece were very difficult to plate. A special anode had to be created for that area, but even with that there are spots where the metal plating coverage wasn't 100%. I was originally going to use a rust removal solution (I didn’t want to sand it) and spray paint it, but the cost was only slightly less than metal plating. Overall I’m very happy with the result. I’m considering having the RF shield from my 1.4 Xbox restored. It doesn’t have any rust but it's very tarnished, so the result should be even better.

  2. Darkwatch Launcher What is Darkwatch Launcher? First some background. Darkwatch was released on PS2 and Xbox. The PS2 version has split-screen cooperative campaign. For the Xbox version, they removed split-screen coop in favor of having an Xbox Live mode. Some Russians figured out how to resurrect the coop mode. The discussion can be found here: https://www.emu-land.net/forum/index.php/topic,69320.0.html?_x_tr_sl=auto&_x_tr_tl=en&_x_tr_hl=en. The caveat is that the functionality to save/load the coop progress does not exist in the Darkwatch game files. Coop progress is saved (in the RAM) until the system is reset, at which point it restarts at the first level. The solution? Darkwatch has 17 different chapters or levels. By hex editing the default.xbe with a different starting level code, coop progress can be resumed where it was left off. That's where Darkwatch Launcher comes in! I made Darkwatch Launcher with CDX. It gives you the ability to launch Darkwatch with chapter selection for Coop, or you can launch into the original Live-enabled version. So what is Darkwatch Launcher Package? Darkwatch Launcher requires 18 different patched XBE's to function. Darkwatch Launcher Package includes a .BAT script file which generates and patches the 18 different XBE files. It also includes the launcher files and folder structure. NO GAME FILES ARE INCLUDED! You will need to source those yourself. 480p, Widescreen? Darkwatch Launcher Package's patcher script also allows you to patch the game files with a 480p fix and/or widescreen. The 480p fix patch can be found floating around online. The widescreen patches can be found here: http://ps2wide.net/xbox.html. Why? Because I, like many people, search for couch coop games to play with my friends/family. It is scarcely known that Darkwatch can be patched for split-screen coop, and due to the inaccessibility of the patches and the difficulty resuming progress, I believe it is oft ignored. Darkwatch plays like a zombie/vampire western version of Halo. It is worth your time if you are looking for more couch coop FPS experiences. The Xbox version also has advantages over the PS2 version: 480p, widescreen, and in coop, both players play as Jericho, making cutscenes logical. 4. Enable the Home Screen and you will have the last 10 ran games, apps etc… + 10 randoms. But yeah that can be added.

  5. FlashBIOS 3.0.1 is booting here. Not a modified Xbox BIOS for the X3 modchip - X3 BIOS Build nnnn (latest nnnn=3294). Are the bank select switches 1-4 set to ON ON OFF OFF? This setting selects the first 1MB bank. The location Team Xecuter suggests installing the X3 BIOS on their X3 modchip. Is the Flash Protect switch set to ON or OFF? From the first picture with manf=0x09, dev=0x00, it must be ON. Protect LED RED. The entire next line reads, "BOOT: start USB init". I'm assuming the console gets stuck at this point? 6. I have made a profile for Jellyfin (a media streaming server similar to Plex) that transcodes videos down to a format that the Original Xbox can handle. I have tested it on a few of my own 1080p and 4K videos and it seems to work fairly well and I'm hoping to find a few testers who can try it out. At the moment, it still drops frames occasionally, but I'm going dial in the profile to smooth things out further. Once done, I plan on submitting the profile as a PR to the Jellyfin project to see if it can be bundled in with future releases. This profile basically just tells Jellyfin what containers and codecs to use (and at what bitrates), then Jellyfin handles the transcoding as if it were any other device. To use this, download the XML file below to your PC, then upload it to your Jellyfin server under this path: /etc/jellyfin/dlna/user/XBMC4Xbox.xml XBMC4Xbox.xml You should then see this new profile under Settings > DLNA > Profiles. To try it out, open your Jellyfin client and cast a video to your Xbox as usual. The video should start playing on your Xbox. If anything goes wrong, check your log file for hints. It will tell you which profile it is using. If it doesn't say "XBMC4Xbox" and instead says "Default", then there's a problem. Reply here with results and feedback. Tested with XBMC4Xbox v3.5.3 (this profile targets this version, but this restriction will probably be removed just in case XBMC4Xbox every has a new release) P.s. I also plan on making profiles for upgraded Xbox motherboards as well, including 128MB and 1.4ghz consoles.
