  1. @Bowlsnapperhas you linked to the goods. If it gets to be too overwhelming(it’s a lot to take in), you can reach out to one of us in DMs or on discord if you have it. I don’t mind walking you through it all. It’s really a simple process after the learning curve.

  2. Use the TSOP flashing tool. In the OP I explain how I use the tool to flash the latest version of Cerbios. Edit: You can use the "Xblast Only" version near the bottom which will make this MUCH simpler for you. Just run the exploit and it will immediately run XBlast. Then you can net flash Cerbios from your PC over the network. As for the latest version of Cerbios: That is the one we're all using these days.

  3. I was going to suggest this. If the parts that you are worried about dying are replaced now, (Like caps, diodes, etc) then you should have a pretty decent PSU for a while.

  4. The old school hobby way was basically taking a board, stenciling on your circuit diagram, and dipping it in some acid. Lol. Board complete! If you did it right. Lol

  5. Any idea how something like that IS made? I've been wondering this for a while now. I have a switch bank that needs a cover.

  6. Just to interject…could you not just take another old psu and recap it? Many of us have done that and the parts that really wear out are readily available from good resources and inexpensive. The atx adapter is definitely cool but it’s basically made of similar components. If we are looking at it that way it’s all really replaceable even if you stick to the og Xbox form factor per se. Not trying to be antagonistic mind you. Just playing devil’s advocate. If you figure out the atx replacement I’d definitely be interested in the process as it’s always nice to have those options!

  7. The bottom PCB is what is needed to have the switchboard. There is no replacement for the plastic sticker that was placed on top of the original PCB with all of the labeling on it. Maybe you can have one custom made. The developer of the replacement chunky unit made it out of three thin stacked PCBs. Only one, the bottom PCB, has electronic components installed on it.

  8. I agree with you 100%, but replacing a 18 year old power supply with another 18 year old supply is foolish, IMHO. An ATX Adapter is the best way to future proof my system, and considering the state of modern games, I would like it run, basically forever. In any case when I am done I will document how to replicate it, with pictures, for the whomever the next guy is. Thanks MadMartigan.

  9. It is completely reversible. You can pop in one of the multiple installer discs and they have options to completely remove the soft mod and its files. Installer discs such as Rocky5 Extras disc, OGXBOXInstaller, Hexen, etc.

  10. Hotswap method is not highly recommended. It’s best to go ahead with a softmod and then proceed to FTP the eeprom backup files to your PC in labeled folders to keep track of which Xbox they’re for. The softmod tools will indeed make a backup, but only to a folder within the Xbox. So that’s why you need to move them to a pc. Those eeprom files allow you to either build a new HDD for repair, or recover an old one that may have been messed up by accident. Looks like you e a good plan going so far.

  11. Dear All, I would like to thank you very much for your responses. We have now succeeded by changing the IDE cable to an 80. And Use Saved Partition Table. Everthing is working now.

  12. You will need that 80wire cable. You need to make sure that the X3 is looking in the right place for the Origins dash. On the original drive it is in a specific location, on the Origins drive it is likely in a different location, the chip/bios needs to know where it is so it can boot it. As I said before check where the dash is located on the origins hdd and point the X3 bios at it. Then it should boot. I have never used the Origins drive so dont know the dash location myself. Here is a link to the manual for the X3 config Live, pay attention to the sections about the dash and make sure that yours is setup to boot the dash from where it is on the Origins drive. https://x3.bustedchain.com/x3configlive.html
