Hello, I just tried to use my old original xbox with a X3 chip, but to my surprise, I got a black screen when turned it on. Tried power+eject and it goes into blue Flashbios screen, but it doesn't detect hd or dvd drive. it says:

flash: Xecuter

Boot: USB

Initializing IDE Controller....and stays there

I'm sorry, it's been a while since my last flashing. Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks in advance.

The X3 can be picky if both drives are not working you could plug in a new/2nd hand  hard drive and see if it gets past the  initializing IDE controller.

I have also have had a X3 chip that was not used for years become corrupt and lose the BIOS files and to fix it i had to run the X3 erase program but the problem is you need a working Xbox that you can run the X3 erase from, then install the X3-3294.bin file

Cheers

SS Dave

Soft modding is like masturbating, It gets the job done but it's nothing like the real thing.

i do have another working softmodded xbox... also, I believe the chip has bios 1857, should I try and flash 3294 instead? If so, do you know of a tutorial that I could follow? for some reason I can't find one that points me to the right direction.....

You flash the BIOS to the main flash memory by booting into the FlashBIOS (power on with both Power and Eject buttons).  Select the Enable Network Flashing option in the menu and press A. Connect to the Xbox using a web browser to the IP address shown.  You can then follow the onscreen instructions to browse to the X3_3294.bin file on your PC to flash the new BIOS.  The X3's bank select panel should be set to select the first 1MB BIOS bank.

Note: The Xbox needs to be connected to your home network for Network Flashing to work. :)

Bank 1234: on on off off (Set to this when flashing first time with FlashBIOS)

The bottom flash protect switch should be off.

Edit: Links to Team Xecuter's tutorial on flashing the X3 modchip can be found here:

http://x3.bustedchain.com/installation.html#biosinstallation

Oops - the links are all to an old team xecuter web site.  (teamxecuter.com - the name has been changed)

Note: Any of the links to

http://www.teamxecuter.com/

pages need to have the web site name changed to

http://www.team-xecuter.com/ followed by the <remainder of the URL> or

https://www.team-xecuter.com/ followed by the <remainder of the URL>

e.g., change http://teamxecuter.com/flashbios/ to https://team-xecuter.com/flashbios/

I suggest using the Flash via HTTP tutorial - https://team-xecuter.com/flashbios/http.htm

There are many other pages at the x3.bustedchain.com web site on various topics covering installation and operation of Team Xecuter's X3 modchip..

Got it solved now! dvd drive was dead.. after swapping another one, boom! I was able to boot into x3 config and then evox dashboard ...had a problem with a partition so I had to format my 250 gb hard drive... trying to install evox again...or hexen....and go from there....Thanks for all the help...

One last question.... Is it there a way to fix the dvd drive? I'm not so sure if it's dead, since it opens and closes when pressing the eject button...but x3 bios or evox wont boot when connected. Everything works normally when unplugged. I can always go without it, using ftp, but I was just wondering if is there anything I could try to make it work? Thanks in advance!!
