  1. The xbox game is Arctic Thunder, here is a picture of the output. Do you think is a TV setting? UnleashX is set to 480p= yes 720p=yes widescreen. I'm guessing the TV might not be switching to normal and stuck on widescreen. Thanks, Joe
  2. Hey All, I just recently fired up my original Xbox to play some Mercenaries or Ninja Gaiden Black but it appears that the drive will not read the game disks. These disks are near perfect condition and the drive itself will read audio cds. I am at a loss on how to troubleshoot this issue. The Xbox I have is a the Special Edition Halo Green Xbox. I am at this point considering modding this system but I would rather do that to an ebay system instead. I do have the original Splinter Cell with some saved games on it, so if I could get the Xbox to launch that game I could in theory softmod it. But launching the game is a problem. Suggestions? - Thanks. -
  3. hi all, i recently bought a zxhd for a spectrum, its an interface board that mates with a raspberry pi, it takes outputs from the board processes them and displays hd video through the pi's hdmi port, now i wondered if we could do something similar. i know n64 freak and others have come up with hdmi solutions, however this is different though because if we use a full size pi board we may be able to get more than video, we could get access to wifi, bluetooth, sd card and video, some are using pi's to read and dump eeprom well why not bios too. as i say just an idea we would need a software guru to look at it for us, now the hardware and designing the electrical and mechanical interface and any add on circuits i can do,but i am no good writing sketches and other code, so does anyone else think it sounds interesting?, or even fancy having a look at what is possible?.
  4. I have a xbox. I softmodded then removed softmod. All went well. Softmodded with unleashx and later removed. All was fine. Then yesterday went to softmod with sid. In middle of process or at end xbox shuts down like normal. Then turned back on and now red/green flashing ring and video is not working. Any ideas? I have tried letting the clock reset but made a sure not to leave the console off more than about 5 to 10 minutes. I have left it on all night trying to find a solution. I am worried if I unplug it or power it off much longer it may turn into a brick. Any ideas? I loaded and backed up everything correctly. I have 2 video cables and checked that as well and no dice any help would be appreciated. The video im sure went out with the new softmod install. Not sure why. Any help would be appreciated. Id rather fix than throw it at the wall lol.
  5. Xecuter 2.6 ce motherboard v1.6 and 80gb ide all wires and 1 official controller 100 usd shipped us only
  6. So yes, that is my question, are there any custom dashboards that look like the original microsoft dashboard? See, I am quite new to the "original Xbox" and I would LOVE to experience something at least similar to the original experience with an Xbox circa 2004. You know, with all the sounds (which I've heard they are creepy) and look of the original. I am yet to use my XBOX as it came with the controllers completely smashed and dead. I live in Chile, so I bought an controller in good condition and it will come here who knows when (internationally). No market for used Xbox things in here. I am also searching for a 220v 1.6 Power supply for the Xbox, just in case, I mention this. Hope to hear from you guys, I did enjoy the 360 A LOT, so I think I am going to love the Xbox! Cheers to all! Hector Hidalgo aka Nacho el Kid
  7. I am reposting this topic again because i think the topic was pulled down. I asked a question?, To all the owners, modder's, collector's whatever, whoever. The God knowledge CPU upgraders...ETC Why is the Power supply upgrade neglected? Come on guys make your system better than ever, the ultimate original xbox Power Is the single most vital none motherboard component in you hybrid pc game console that can be improved really easy if you wanted to. Give your system a larger deeper well of wattage to draw water from, so your system will run more efficiently then ever before because not a single watt asked for is not given to it immediately with ease of operation. Have your fan's run faster and at full speed effortlessly, Open the possibility for other hardware mods or definitely other cooling mods. Power is important, not to big ...' not to small but just the right oversized power supply, Bigger than the manufacturer's But not too big. Any flex atx will do with modification. Or heavy modification depending on what your skill set is and what equipment you have to work with. Message me with questions and i will give you my email.. Console power supplies suck. Power was limited by the space in witch the power supply had to go into at the time of current technology of consoles. Consoles are computer's dummed down. Anyway point being always and i mean always upgrade the consoles power supply first then the rest of the crap. Cpu upgrade, ram upgrade, mod chip upgrade, lights upgrade, cooling upgrade. Blah Blah Blah, What do all of these mods have in common? More Power consumption of the system. They are all almost worthless without the larger wattage well to draw from... Upgrade your power supplies to these amazing modded consoles. Compliment your ram upgrade, cpu, upgrade, mod chip upgrade, lights upgrade, etc with a better atx power supply. Any flex atx will do see my photos on mine. Also i am selling on ebay 4 fat model ps2's custom painted with a double size power supply riged in it. It runs better than ever. Despite maximum wattage use. That is based on an inadequate power supply that is small enough to fit in a compact space. Now uh days we have 1U server power supplies that deliver up to 1000 watts, Flex atx, standard 1u flex atx, tfx, sfx...ETC U name it... it exist now... Compact power punching power supplies. It just takes a little creativity and a little desire to upgrade. Remember the xbox uses a 3.3 standby mode. So you have to mod you small power supply to do this. Easy money, just get a step down transformer tiny logic board. Convert 5 volt volt stand by VSB to 3.3 VSB. USING A BUCK CONVERTER.
  8. It was listed as faulty, that it hangs on the Xbox logo. After sitting thinking I wonder will it error, my brother said Microsoft appeared on the screen. Apparently it seems to work, it just takes ages to boot, and the problem seems to be with the disc drive itself. There's no signs of leakage from the clock cap either, so I should remove that before it goes. It's apparently another v1.1, and I plan to tsop it also. The main thing I need to do for now is give it a good cleaning and softmod it to get the eeprom. I don't trust the HDD because the spindle is whirring really loudly, so the eeprom is a priority, as is the clock cap. After changing the drive for a Thomson out of another console, it boots up normally. There must be something wrong with the actual PCB in the Samsung I got with it.
  9. So Hello. I bought hyperkin duke and that made me think man would it be cool to make this work with my original xbox. https://www.hyperkin.com/duke-wired-controller-for-xbox-one-windows-10-pc-black-hyperkin.html I have seen conversion made out of original xbox controller working with windows operating system so can I use that information to reverse engineer usb windows controller to work with xbox? I dont have any clue how xbox recognizes what kind of accessories are attached to controller port? So here are maybe few ideas how approach situation: Combining original xbox controller cable with standard usb cable? Could I use maybe wireless dongle for xbox and hardwire duke into that use it that way? All information is really appreciated.
  10. Hi people! So i was walking pass a garbage dump waiting to be picked up by the trashmen that day, when this big bag caught my eye with some electronic gear in it. To my suprise it had loads of cables and controllers and this Xbox! That cool thing i wanted back then at the start of the millennium,.. but didn't had the money for it . Took it home, hooked it up and to my surprise it is working fine! (that attitude of people throwing working things away makes me quite angry ) I am in luck i guess. Looking up i found out it's best to mod it these days.. and found this: But it seems i can only get error 11 and not 12... i think thats why its not unlocking... as my computer can find it but Xplorer360 can't. I have Kernel 1.00.4034.01 and Dash 1.00.5960.01 ...so far my first steps into modding my xbox hope one of you know how to go further
  11. Hi all, I decided to dig out my Xbox (v1.1) and mod it to turn it into a emulation station. Luckily I got it out at the correct time as I caught the clock capacitor just as it was beginning to leak. I have just finished soft modding it and soldering the tsop write access solder points. Unfortunately I have gotten caught out by the Phillips disk drive as it decided it didn't want run Hexen which I had burnt to a DVD RW. I don't have any DVD R at hand so I will have to postpone the tsop BIOS flash to tomorrow when I can get some DVD R's. Hopefully I should be able to finish modding the Xbox tomorrow with the tsop flash and install a larger hard disk. I just wanted to say hi to everyone in this great forum.
  12. Will pay good money for one let me know ok thanks
  13. Why is it the ram and cpu upgrades on the original xbox are done. But those that do fail to upgrade the next most vital component in your console pcs. Upgrade you power supplies to a larger one to give the system better response time and a deeper well of wattage to pull from. Put an atx in there that has 2 12 v rails and make sure that board has all the power running to it efficiently a 80 or 90 % percent efficient 400 or 500 or 300 watt power supply will give you so many more options for cooling and give that mainboard all the power it needs to function better than ever. Also put low esr capacitors on the board or aluminum polymer capacitors that run at a lower frequenzy and run cooler for you system to truly modernize it. I see the cpu upgrade the ram upgrade, the firmware upgrade, the cosmetic upgrades, but no power upgrades, no capacitor component upgrades. Why are you people not doing this with your retro game consoles. Seriously why has no xbox with the formentioned upgrades that are common talked about not complimented with a larger power supply. And don't give me that crap about the system only uses so much power blah blah blah. That isn't true. A more efficient power supply and low esr capacitors will do wonders for you system. I did a power supply upgrade for the playstation 2 and i can tell you it works better than ever and i can put a 12v fan in it and still give the main board all the power it could ever need with a 180 watt imac power supply from an apple imac A1224 i have 3 for sale on ebay see them there nicely painted and perform better and have a big boy pc grounded 3 pin 110v-250v ac in plug. Also line filters Emi filters, get them there amazing.
  14. Hi everyone! What started out as a "simple fix" for an Xbox I won at SEGE last month has turned into a full passion for getting the most our of it. To that end, I decided to up my game out of the back of the console by going the HDMI route. I invested in the Pound Technologies Xbox HDMI HD Link Cable, and I am thrilled to report that the results are great! I think you'll be pleased with it, especially if you're still connecting to an HDTV through composite. Here's my complete unboxing, setup, and comparison of the original Xbox composite cable and the new HDMI Pound cable. Enjoy, and please share your thoughts on it. Thanks! Blaine I

    XBox Clean Up

I had some time inbetwen jobs and thought I would have a go at one of my cheap pickup's. I got 3 for $20 from the local recycle center with the real reason for buying them was 2 of them had Duo X2 mod chips. But anyway can you have too many XBOX"S ? I think not. As you can see it's in poor condition. So after opening it up. And removal of the PCB and Faraday cage. Looks like it's been swimming or at least stored out side. Even the DVD drive got stripped the lazer pickup was covered in a brown film that took several goes to clean off add a new load belt with some lube on the moving part's it's now as good as new. I am suprised the fan could spin. I washed the mother board and power supply in a ultrasonic bath then a scrub with isoprenol alcohol and a brush then I hot air dryed them. And the cases when't in the dish washer on a heavy duty cycle wash. The faraday cage got washed sanded and then a coat of black paint Now a reasemble with new heat sink compound It's up and running now lets fit one of N64's HDMI kits. For the time been the DuoX2 chip is staying but I will flash the TSOP in the near future as well as thinking a RAM upgrade is in order. It's back together for now with a 500gig hard disk. And yes it is the same XBOX all up about 2 1/2 hours work not including the dish washer taking 1.5 hours. I still have another one just as bad plus at least 6 more that are in better condition for when I get time. Cheers all SS Dave The 500gig hard drive has gone and now a 1tb drive in it's place.
  16. Recently I got Xbox Classic (v1.0), and it has a little cooler on GPU heatsink (like every 1.0), which I would like to remove. Can I just take the fan off, and leave a heatsink without it? Has anyone tried it, and use the console that way? Also, I'll change a thermal paste with MX-4. Sent from my STF-L09 using Tapatalk
  17. Hey everyone im looking for a crystal original xbox shell i dont need the components that go inside i just need a case so let me know if one of you have one for sale for a good price thanks.
  18. There's a few games not working on faster cpu. Does anyone know how to get Return to Castle Wolfenstein (NTSC) to run with a faster cpu ? (1 ghz, 1.4 ghz) ? On startup it dIsplays the first copyright screen and then it freezes just before loading the ESRB notice. HDD spins down to low activity. Same result happens if I use xbepatcher on the default.xbe. On my stock xbox this game runs just fine.
  19. Hi all, I'm looking to seel a crystal xbox with pink xecuter 3 modchip and crystal pro switch. All buttons are present on the pro switch. It's only got a 40gb hdd but does have coin ops on there. It's in full working order but I dont have a controller for it. I'm looking for a valuation with a view to selling on so if you could give me a price I'd be grateful. I'm based in the UK, thanks.
  20. Updated 4/25/17 Slim Xbox Original Laptop Build Photos are attached below. Hey everyone this is a log for my very own Ultra 5cm Slim Xbox Original Laptop Build. The goal for this build is to keep the Xbox originals originality by using the Xbox original case and to slim it down into an Xbox original laptop with wicked accessories. The Xbox will be cut down to just above the controller ports. The sides of the lid and the back corners of the lid will be cut off, sanded and reattached to the bottom of the case. The Xbox will then have a removable top plastic flat cover and or palm rest added to the case to replace the original lid. The original lid will no longer have sides or back corners on it, the lid will be cut to fit a Laptop LCD screen which will be powered on through the Xbox's Molex cable by using a shortened Y splitter cable. This cable will turn the Xbox's hard drive on and the Xbox's LCD screen on. The Molex cable Y splitter, splits the Amps the new Xbox pico psu outputs while the voltage remains the same. The LCD screen will either be a 15.6 inch laptop screen or a slightly smaller screen around 14 inches and will have a frame on the front of it and a cover on the back of the lcd. Two Xbox jewels will be used at the moment on this Laptop build. One jewel will be used and attached either in the center and or bottom right of the Xbox's LCD screen back cover. Another jewel will be cut into a rectangle around the Xbox logo and will be flipped over to the Xbox indentation logo side and displayed on the front of the console. There will be two to three models of the Xbox Ultra Slim Laptop at the moment, one will include two wireless controller inbuilt and will be the first model, and will be build into the Xbox Original case. The second model and third model details are yet to be released. Accessories included The accessories which are included are: The Xbox disc drive, modified into an external sata drive which can be plugged into an Xbox when its off and used easily for ripping games and playing disc games. The Xbox has to be turned off while plugging the drive into the new sata ports on the side of the Xbox and turned off while unplugging the drive. An Xbox original wireless handheld portable home device with a controller inbuilt into it. This is similar to a wii u like controller. The idea is to be able to walk around the house and be able to play Xbox as you go. These will be available for sale and the transmitter and receivers have already been tested and do transmit the video signal to screens away from the Xbox. The Xbox original will be powered by a 12volt DC 250watt pico psu, the psu is capable of outputting 20 - 20.83 amps. Whats inside the Xbox The Motherboard. The controller ports, LED modified. The 12 volt DC 250w Pico psu. A heat sink with an 80mm fan to cover the CPU A laptop IDE to sata adapter connected to the hard drive, the laptop hard drive will be positioned over the av and lan ports at the back of the console, between the ide slot and the gpu heatsink. A modified 80 wire ide cable will be used to keep the build tidy. Two Xcm wireless controller transmitters, which can be turned on and off by the use of switches on each transmitter. There will be four controllers used for this and only two can work at one time. Two controllers will be made into Wireless Xbox Portable Devices. Xbox will still be fully capable of handling wired and other plug in wireless controllers by turning off the transmitters inside the Ultra slim Xbox by the use of switches on the right hand side of the Xbox's. The Xbox will have the capacitors replaced to increase the amount of size available inside of the Xbox, by installing aluminium electrolytic capacitors which are smaller. The Xbox will contain one battery. A LCD driver board to connect the LCD to the Xbox's video signal. Two speakers connected to the driver board, receiving the audio signal from the Xbox's motherboard. An 80 wire ide cable. A Molex Y Splitter cable. A wireless xbox original internet receiver. An Ide to sata adapter on the left hand side of the Xbox positioned next to the ide port for the Xboxs external disc drive and other external accessories. LED Strips A custom assembled ATX cable. A 5volt sb to 3.3 volt standby converter made by me A 5volt sb to 3.3 volt standby converter final made by and purchased from N64 Freak. A 1tb - 2tb laptop drive. In total 2x 1tb - 2tb laptop hard drives drives, In the bigger laptop model, through the use of a hard drive selector and possibly modified original disc drive. Switches to allow for the turning on and off of the wireless Xbox controller transmitters and for the swi An additional fan port GPU heatsink Additional fans Power button Eject button Plastic to isolate the laptop hard drive and ide to sata adapter from the motherboard. Four Xbox Screws for the controller ports Six Screws to replace the Xbox original case mount screws. To hold the top casing with the bottom casing. HDMI Composite converter board, purchased from N64 Freak. Slide in DVD drive, possibly in this model or another model, although will only play burnt games and dvds and not Xbox Original games at this stage. Eight 1500uf 6.3 volt capacitors to replace the original 1500uf capacitors and the 3300uf 6.3 volt capacitors. At this stage possibly a new soldered on board ATX right angle plug for the Xbox original. At this stage possibly a new soldered on board ATX right angle plug for the Pico Power Supply. Xbox hard drive isolation and Xbox hard drive ide to sata adapter isolation. Xbox power supply isolation. Xbox heatsink isolation support. 15.6 inch or 14inch laptop screen with matching driver board. Additional 64mbs of ram, to make the Xbox have a complete 128mbs of ram. Xbox duo x chip or aladdin chip. Multiple USB ports, to allow for mouse and for inbuilt directly wired keyboard functionality for use on the Xbox Originals XBMC dashboard and on the Xbox original avaliable operating systems, including at the moment Linu , Windows 98, and Windows CE. The Xbox External Disc Drive Power button will be cut off from the eject board/power on board and wired directly back to the eject board while the eject board is mounted else where in the case. The IDE port will have an IDE to sata connector directly wired to it for the external disc drives port to best fit in the Xbox Ultra Slim Laptop, while a single double ide cable will be used to go from the ide port directly to the laptop hard drive. The disc drive will be made an external accessory by using its own IDE female to sata adapter plugged which will be plugged into the back of disc drive and use a sata cable to connect to the sata ports on the side of the Xbox Ultra Slim Laptop. An Xbox dvd drive power cable extension and port will be added as follows, Male to Female connector, which then goes from the Female connector to the Xbox left hand side mounted Male connector. The male connector which will be added to the side will allow for the power, eject in, eject out, to be connected to the drive. To avoid the Xbox throwing an Error from the drive not being connected in general, the Xbox will be chipped or tsop flashed. If the sata doesn't work due to the Xbox originals DVD drive adapter not having a slave pinner, an ide cable will be used instead. The Wireless Controller Device The Wireless controller device will include a video transmitter connected into the Xbox originals av port which will be powered by the Xbox's power new pico power supply or battery power included within the Ultra Slim Xbox Original Laptop Build. The transmitter is capable of transmitting the Xbox's video signal to another LCD screen when the video receiver is plugged into the composite av video port if that LCD screen. The video receiver will be powered by battery and will be connected to an LCD screen. The LCD screen will have a wireless controller build around the screen, inside of a custom case, which will likely be build out of an Xbox original case, to keep the Xbox's original case style. The back of the device will have an Xbox Original Jewel mounted. The wireless controllers being used are XXX XCM Wireless controllers these controllers are power by battery. The power required to use the controllers, an LCD screen, blue tooth speakers and the video receiver will be combined within the handheld device and the batteries will be rechargeable. The Project Log 1 Here's the ultra slim laptop at the moment. I have cut the power and eject button in half and will jump the power to the eject board. The eject button will be mounted on the front of the Xbox. The power button will stay in its originally place. The eject half circle hole where the eject button used to go will be fitted with leds for an on light and standby light. The original led lights for the Xbox errors will be present still. The power supply is a 12volt, 250 watt power supply, that will be turned on by battery. The power supply is almost set up at this time, although the wiring is not yet finished at this time. The Xbox is working at this stage with the new installed capacitors.
  21. Hi all, I built an xbox mini a few years ago and designed a case based loosely on ghostavels well known xbox mini. I had it laser cut from plexiglass and it turned out ok, but could be better. I'm looking into possibly designing in CAD and making the cases but want to see if there's enough interest for it to be a worthwhile venture. I've attached some pictures of my original, any feedback or suggestions would be great. Currently it uses the breakaway part of the controller cables for controller ports, I have only used 2 on mine but 2 more can be added obviously. I also added internal wifi hence an extra cutout on the back to loop a small cat5 to an internally mounted wifi pcb, this could be omitted or the wifi pcb could be directly soldered to the ethernet port (I wanted to retain the port). There is also a small window for internal IR dongle, again this can be omitted. The 3 smaller "holes" are for hdd act LED, Power LED and network activity. Again optional. You would need to do the pico psu mod and have some aftermarket cooling for cpu etc (I used Iceberq 4 pro's) Face plates could be any colour, same for the side/back pieces. Also doesn't have to have the xbmc logo engraved Thanks
  22. Hi I'm after a bit of help; my Xbox 1.0 just crashed during a bios flash (I was using HeXen 2018) My Xbox will no longer boot (HD Error 05) and I don't have the adapter to flash my modchip on my PC. Unfortunately I can't even recall what my modchip is, and I've long since lost the PC (Parallel?) adaptor it came with. I've included a picture of the modchip, in case anyone remembers what it is. Should I buy a new modchip? My soldering skills are not great so if there is any way of salvaging this solderers chip I'd be grateful.
  23. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cyfbxuMgI4M&t=480sHello everyone! First post, and happy to be here. I want to share something that will add value to the community. I've put together a video tutorial on how you can install games directly to the XBOX HDD through the internet and FTP. All you'll need is your softmodded XBOX, an Ethernet cable, and the HDD Ready games you want on the HDD. You'll be up and running with it in no time. Full how-to video is below. Please let me know if this video helps you so that I can make XBOX content that makes your gaming experience more enjoyable. Thanks, Blaine https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cyfbxuMgI4M&t=480s
