About Me

  1. hi yall, so i have a v1.1 that will boot into my open xenium menu no issue and xblast with my 128 ram upgrade and xblast shows all chips successful. but will not boot any other bios. I removed ram chip 3 and now boots into all bioses i throw at it. I tried 4 other ram chips that i know work and still wont boot into anything other than my ox menu and xblast. I went over mb with a fine tooth comb no tace damage, i have replaced every capacitor on the motherboard and still wil not boot a bios other than xblast with chip 3 soldered on but still shows successful in xblast ram test. any ideas?
  2. The title basicly already say's it all. I wonder if it would be possible to piggy back a second TSOP to the one of the MB (Except for Vcc and Enable). Then lift the Vcc pins (TSOP 1 & 2) and Enable pins (TSOP 1 &2) which then goes to the switch. Highly professional made schematics : https://imgur.com/a/WguB3ZR I have googled it but how it seems no ever had that stupid idea. Or at least I didn't found anything.
  3. i bought this xbox v1.6. it has a problem of turning on for few minutes than turns off, after that it keeps turning on for 2 seconds and than off. i opened up the xbox and immediately saw that the power supply was already worked on and whoever did it, did a very ugly job. the power supply is Delta DPSN-96DP. As seen in picture 1 the big capacitor was changed to 400v solder with wires just lying there, the glue was supposed to hold it but it was only stuck on the capacitor and not on the metal and plastic. the below 2 green caps were changed to with higher voltage. both the big and green caps were old used caps. i changed few caps. in picture 2 the caps marked green are what i changed with new and correct caps. the resistor marked red were changed or something else because their underside show sign of different solder than the original ones on board. are these resistors right? in picture 3 the glue on left looks cut off, is there supposed to be different component here or the one here is right? in picture 4 the area circled red, are these capacitors or resistor? they were either changed or lifted than put back with ugly fat soldering. anyway are these right? lastly the mainboard picture these 5 capacitor under cpu/gpu value is 3300uf 16v while online search says its 3300uf 6.3v, are they replaced too? my problem is xbox turning off after few minutes. i tested 500gb desktop hdd, 1tb laptop hdd and without hdd. 500gb desktop hdd turns on for few minutes than off by itself, after that it turns on for 2 seconds and off. have to give it rest for hours to turn it on again for few minutes and than turns off by itself again. 1tb laptop hdd takes very few tries and most of time with first try it turns on and off by itself but stays on for more minutes the 500gb desktop hdd. without hdd always turns on first try and stays on for 10-20 minutes and off by itself. So its just power supply or the main board caps problem too.
  4. My HDD on my main xbox is an old IDE from 2004 so I decided it was time for an upgrade to modern SATA WD Drive. Only problem is that it now doesn't fit in my case, despite it being large, due to the NES microcontrollers. I'm pretty sure that if I use this adaptor that I can get everything to fit in the case as I'm no longer extending the length of the HDD with my usual goto adaptor. I've tried googling around but everything I see mentions doing some sort of TSOP flash. Is there a way to skip the DVD check without doing a TSOP flash?
  5. This is my last post and I will consider replacing the hard drive, but will a bad hard drive cause the game disc to not load properly at all? The only issue I be having is that when I start project Gotham racing two it won’t let me skip, but once it gets to the second part of the intro it’ll freeze until I restart the console and then start the game up again and then it’ll let me skip The in game radio and stuff will also cut out So I just wanna know y’all opinion that well a bad heart drive cause that’s even though I have the original game disc
  6. Hey guys. I’m making another console for someone that wants all emulators and Roms. I don’t much with Emustation and Roms these days so I’m obviously a little out of the loop. The scanner recognized the games however, they are an absolute mess in the games list and unfortunately don’t even work. I’ve tried putting all files into one folder named after the .cue file, but that just reboots Emustation as well. How in the world do you get this game list organized and rid the list of many multiple files?
  7. Hello I recently got an OG Xbox kind of cheap together with some demos and 2 controllers. I tested it and it worked all good for the demos at least, when I put games in it didnt recognize them at all because they were copies something that I didnt really check when I did buy them because they were in DVD boxes with printed labels and all that. After some searching I found that the console was modded because it was showing Xecuter 2 on startup, I didnt know about that because never had an Xbox before so I thought that was normal startup screen lol. So after playing a bit with the settings I gone to flash bios which made sense for me after flashing the first option which I dont remember the name now It started playing one of the copy games but it was stuttering a lot after a while. After another restart I gone to flash the second option and then it stuck without flashing or doing anything for like 20 minutes after which I turned the console off. Now after I turn it on it makes 2-3 attempts to turn on and then starts flashing red-green light constantly, the DVD drives responds and opens up when I push the button for the tray but other from that I have nothing on screen and it doesnt boot up into any menu from what I understand. What are my options from there ? Can I somehow make a new install of the firmware or flash some new bios to it or maybe is the mod messing up ? Any help will be much appreciated as this is my first Xbox console and my knowledge of it is extremely lacking.
  8. So i booted my old Xbox OG and it boots with AV and startup logo and gives me error 07. You also hear the HDD clicking and assume that the HDD has given up. I searched a couple of topic's how to get a new HDD working and i am not sure how to do it with the Aladdin modchip. So the Aladdin boots in 2 states (short power btn press) green logo normal boot and (long power btn press) Aladdin boot red logo. I read that installing a new HDD requires EEPROM that is needed for the new HDD to be able to recognizable for the Xbox. Retrieving could be done with a RaspBerry Pi, that i have. Not sure if the Aladdin modchip makes it easier to retrieve the EEPROM, also saw that some people boot HeXen is that maybe a possibility? Don't really need the normal boot, the Aladdin boot would be enough as long it can start the games and maybe FTP file transfer. If someone could point me in a direction which option might be best i can search how to do it. Sorry for my noob question.
  9. Solution - It turns out that neither XBMC4Xbox 3.5.3 or Dashloader Customiser like being run from F. I moved both to E to test and both run perfectly. Anyone else noticed this behaviour before? I have an issue where a couple of apps don't display properly on screen.... The Apps in question are Dashloader Customiser and XBMC4Xbox, see pics below.... As you can see the controller image is missing on Dashloader Customiser as well as the cursor and XBMC is just not displaying the skin properly. As such, both apps are not easy to navigate lol Anbody have any ideas? I have tried redownloading the apps and copying fresh files to the console but the same thing happens. The exact same files work perfectly in another Xbox so I'm stumped.
  10. Hi all, I am a member of the forum for many years, almost never post but I learned a great deal of things in here. Now to my issue. I have an v1.2 green transparent Xbox that was running fine after I removed the clock capacitor and replaced 3 capacitors on the right front, under the HDD. At some point I installed an Aladdin xt2 (AliExpress version) with CERBIOS v2.0.2R, a WD red 3Tb HDD, and a generic IDE to SATA adapter - Some pictures from 2 years ago can be found here. I only use this Xbox once in a while as it is not my main gaming Xbox console, so it mostly lives in a display without video and power cables. Last week I tried to power it up and I got a FRAG (3 tries to power on and then green-red light). Opening it I could see 3 capacitors that had leaked on top (2 seen below), so I replaced them - the ones marked with red circles --> After that I have the following cases and symptoms: 1. If I remove D0 from ground, it will boot up to an error (I think error number 6 if i remember correctly) which is ok as the HDD in there is no the original one - This is fine 2. With DO grounded and ANY Aladdin XT2 chip I tried I get again a FRAG (3 failed tries and green-red light) and black screen. I have 3 working Aladdins with 3 different custom BIOSes for testing (one with Cerbios 2.0.2R the one that was originally there, one with ind-bios 5003 and one Evox M8plus). All Aladdins have LEDs, and they seem to power up These are my chips: 3. With DO grounded, no HDD, no DVD and the modXO rp2040 zero that I recently created myself (running Cerbios V2.4.2 Beta), it immediately goes to this custom error and flashed red-green (like in 2 seconds), which I don't know if is normal 4. With DO grounded, HDD connected , DVD connected and the modXO rp2040 zero it boots right up, as nothing has happened I checked my soldering, the pin header for the chip seems solid, I removed the DO cable and soldered it again - nothing I tried starting the Xbox with ModXO, went into a Hexen DVD that I have and loaded GenTools. Then I removed the ModXo chip and hot-swapped CERBIOS Aladdin, trying to flash it with the latest CERBIOS but it isn't even detected there I have never seen this before and I had modded and fixed a lot of Xbox in the last 3-4 years. This was the first FRAG I encountered and somehow "fixed" but I want to continue using the Aladdin XT chip for this Xbox. What can be the difference that allows ModXO to start up? Why aren't the Aladdins get detected at all? Is it correct that the ModXO (CERBIOS 2.4.2) throws this error? I thought it would at least show the CERBIOS logo and then go to an error but maybe I am wrong Any help is appreciated!! Thanks
  11. I have a v1.0 board that is TSOP flashed with Cerbios 2.4.1. My UDMA is set to 5 in the cerbios.ini file and I am using a Startech, an 80 wire, and a Seagate Baracuda HDD 2TB from this year. I run this in a cool below room temp room. I have 60mm noctua fan mod running on 100 percent. The temps are around 55C. I have sent this console in to a professional and reputable repair service. I had a full recap done and a PSU swap with a recap also done on the PSU and various testing. I’ve sent this console in two times. But it always seems that when I get this thing back it will run awesome for about 2 days with a couple of hours played. And then eventually I will be playing a game and then I will hit the dashboard shortcut and it will fail to load the dash. And and that point I know its cooked. And lo an behold when that happens it frags when I power it off and on from that point. And if I leave it off for a bit and try again, boom no frag and it boots up and plays well until the next time it “overloads” enough to frag again. Every time I send it in they cannot replicate this frag I am having probably because it takes quite a few hours of play time to get it to frag. They ran microsoft’s internal memory test and there are no issues with the memory modules. The only thing that they mentioned was the HDD was getting pretty hot possibly due to my fans being set at the default speed which isn’t enough with a 60mm fan. Since then have set my fans to the max. The disc drive is good. The caps are good. The PSU is good. The memory is good. The temps are good (at least the the numbers shown in XMBC4gamers dash). What does this leave me with? There is something having to do with using it for an extended period. EDIT: oh and forgot to mention I also have force 480p enabled in the cerbios.ini and 480p mode enabled on the main MSDash(my main dash is UIX lite) and I use an electron shepard xbox2hdmi adpater hooked up to an LG CX in case it matters
  12. Hey all, tl;dr Started to recap my 1.4, testing as I went. Board eventually started to 3 boot frag, cannot get it to recover. Did I break it beyond repair? So, I replaced the power supply that I accidentally blew up and all was good. Since I noticed that the caps by the CPU were bulging, I figured I might as well replace them before going any further so I ordered a full board cap kit from Console5. I've recapped other devices before, but I guess I must have been lucky because this gave me problems immediately. The multi-layer board and large ground planes made it extremely difficult to get caps out and clear the vias of left over solder. I don't have a hot air station or board pre-heater or anything like that which I'm sure would have made things much easier (one bedroom apartment with two people and a cat, space is at a premium). Since I was afraid I was doing damage to pads/internal board layers getting caps and solder out, I made sure to test the system after replacing every few caps. I decided not to do the whole board since I was having difficulty, and would stop after these last few. Well, after replacing those last few the system no longer boots. Here's what I'm getting: The first few times I tried booting, I got the 3 boots and FRAG. I reflowed some solder on questionable joints and got a solid green light, but no AV (seems to indicate inability to load a BIOS). Unplugged my modchip, but same issue. While not impossible, it seemed unlikely that both the onboard BIOS (this board was previously TSOPed) and the modchip BIOS would be corrupted so I felt I must have done too much board damage somewhere and maybe destroyed an internal trace or something. After going back and forth checking all the caps I replaced and even trying to solder from the top side to ensure a through-and-through connection (please, forgive me), I wound up at: 3 boot FRAG when modchip installed, but solid green no AV with modchip uninstalled. This led me to think that maybe there was an issue with the LPC though I hadn't touched that area since I originally installed the pin header 4 years ago. I reflowed those joints and moved the D0 wire from the Aladdin chip to a ground/screw hole on the board. Continuity between LPC pins and their respective traces check out fine on my multi meter. Now I get 3 boot frag with or without the modchip plugged in. Anyone have any advice or see anything in the pictures that I don't? Any help is appreciated. Pictures: https://imgur.com/a/WEKo0vb The caps circled in blue at the ones I replaced and was able to still boot after. The ones in red are the last ones I replaced, no booting since replacing them. All other caps are original.
  13. Hello I am having issues with Emustation Snes9xbox by Mednefen NES/SNES error with loading ROMs. I have done the folllowing: downloaded emustation zip file -> extracted the folder on Windows 11 -> it has XBMC-Emustation folder inside an XBMC-Emustation folder -> I extracted the internal folder and FTP it to my OG Xbox -> installed the emulators including NES and SNES -> placed ROMs inside relevant folders for each system -> choose rom to boot from Emustation console system-> NES goes to emulator menu then when I select a game it fails everytime with permissions error and SNES just a blank screen - all others working including SEGACD Error message is permissions error. also tried: downloaded emustation zip file-> FTP it to my OG Xbox -> unzipped as is -> installed the emulators including NES and SNES -> placed ROMs inside relevant folders for each system -> choose rom to boot from Emustation console system-> NES goes to emulator menu then when I select a game it fails everytime with permissions error and SNES just a blank screen Have I missed a step or done something I should not have? Specs: OG XBOX v1.6 Video encoder: XCalibur NTSC ACER LCD Softmodded with Rocky5 UnleashX Dash latest XBMC-Emustation (compiled Jul27 2024)
  14. I've been working on an xbox maintenance installer in my language (italian) for a couple of years now and to improve it i'd like to make uleashx xbe files read specific xml configuration files instead of the classic config.xml (like in the Cerbios disc, like on Hexen and like on Rocky5's softmodding tool). I've searched a lot online but i couldn't find any information about it. does anyone know how to make this possible? thanks a lot to whoever can help me
  15. My next mission is to TSOP flash a 1.4 Xbox that has an Alladin mod chip, from memory with the mod chip disabled the Xbox just frags so I wired it with the mod always on. I'm guessing at some point a TSOP flash was attempted on it and failed or something went wrong with the original bios. Is it going to be possible to recover the TSOP on this one, can I flash with the mod chip installed somehow? Thanks for any advice.
  16. Hello. I modded my softmodded xbox 1.0 with analog2hdmi. But it displays strange color with no sound. I couldnt select digital out on xbmc. I checked soldering. Is this mod compatible with softmodded xbox?
  17. EDIT - The console is now fixed and connecting to the net perfectly. The culprit was a faulty ICS1893AF chip and after doing a transplant from another dead 1.6 console with known working internet, everything is up and running. Thanks @prtscn for the pointer. OP - I have a 1.6 from YEARS ago that has never been able to connect to the net. I just sat and replaced the Ethernet port with a known good replacement from another 1.6 board I have that has other issues, and, still no internet connectivity. Anyone have any ideas what else I can swap from the other board that might kick the network into working order?
  18. Hi All, Today I just finished upgrading my 1.4 board with an X3 as the chip to 128mb of ram. The upgrade went great no issues with a hot air rework station. I flashed Xblast OS to one of the banks of the X3 and tested each chip as it was installed, I got a"success" on all 4 chips. Put the board back in and hooked it up, booted into X3 Config Live and the X3 recognizes 128mb of ram. Switched banks to the latest Cerbios release (2.4.1) and the box just hangs at the Cerbios Logo (not the dogs, I know about the issue). Any suggestions on this situation? I tried the 2.3.1 and got the same thing. I tried booting into Cerbios Safe mode with eject and got a black screen (no logo). I tried 2.3.1 udma 2-5. No luck Thanks for your replies, Zagman
  19. I'm having an unlucky day, I have a 1.6 Xbox that's barely been used since new, a crystal box, It's just had a softmod on it although I'd just ordered a mod chip that I could install on it but it hasn't arrived yet. Either way, I went to fire it up today and completely dead, press eject or power and nothing, doesn't try to come on at all as if there is no power going to it. I fired it up last week when I pulled it out of storage and it worked fine. So, it's looking like potentially the power suplly has failed. In my collection of goodies I found an Xbox power supply, it's brand new never used in box. Here are some photos of it. It has both types of power connector. A switch to go between 120 and 240 volts, I'd need the 240. Do you think this would be fine to use on a 1.6 XBox for an Australian 240v Xbox?
  20. I have an Aladdin chip that when put into a working Xbox does not output any AV. The hdd spins up and the DVD initialises and the LED is lit up on the chip. Anyone have any ideas on what I could do to get it working... I've double checked the soldering on the BT to ground and it all looks fine. Another Aladdin chip I have works perfectly in this same console, as does my SmartXX.
  21. It appears there might be an SSD degradation issue affecting SSD setups on XBMC4Gamers, possibly related to the underlying Xbox system. I've tested multiple Samsung SSDs, including the 4TB EVO variants, using the StarTech adapter and a proper IDE cable. Initially, everything runs smoothly with near-instant boot times. However, over time, the boot time increases to about 15 seconds (notably with a blinking green light at the Cerbios logo), affecting all drive operations proportionately. This isn't a major issue and most users may not even notice, as the drive still performs relatively fast. My speculation is that something could be actively writing to the drive or that background operations occur during some power cycles. On one occasion, selecting Shutdown from the XBMC4Gamers menu caused the system to freeze with a faint buzzing sound, and the slowdown began on the next reboot. I'm unsure if there's a definitive solution to this issue besides wiping the drive and making a clean install. As a precautionary measure, I'm contemplating reverting to a spinning disk. I'm concerned that SSD degradation may worsen over time or potentially lead to complete setup corruption. I'm curious if others have encountered this issue and found any workarounds. It appears to be a common challenge when using a modern drive on older hardware that lacks SSD support functionalities.
  22. does anyone know them Colors from the original Xbox cable as connected to the Wii HDMI adapter. The member MisterED has provided the housing but also how it is soldered and which color goes where. sorry for the translation.(google)
  23. Does anyone know what would cause me to get an error saving game in PCSXBox V25, I'm using the configuration files from the 1470x Pack - PCSXbox V25 on backups, the configuration files are great and all the games I want to work go well, the only problem I've got is saving games, for example my favourite game is Lemmings and Oh No More Lemmings, If I complete a level where it lets me save, go to save game it asks me what memory card slot, and to name the save, I do this and it says error unable to save. If I change the save files folder to something like F:\psxsaves without the preconfigured config files for the game from the 1470x Pack and run in defaults it saves game fine but then I don't have the joysticks working etc. Is there some setting I need to change somewhere for save games to work using those preconfigured game settings? Thanks in advance
  24. The title says it all really, I installed NeogenplusDX and had it how I wanted it, ran The Artwork installer 3.2 online edition and suddenly my NeoGenesis is labelled as OpenBor with images and description associated with that. Is there something I've done wrong?
