About Me

  1. Hardmod is done on 1.6 but I still have the stock hard drive , should it be locked or is there something I need to do? I have recently install kixxx emulator but have it in apps in the boot dash that hexen installed as I don't see how to put in emulators folder. Works fine just wrong location, how do I move into emulators folder? Still learning how this file system all works.
  2. Hello to all, just softmoded my OGxbox. My next step will be obviously upgrading HDD. so question is, after when i upgrade HDD to 2 TB can i use Sata To USB Adapter to transfer files instead using FTP method? I got 3 ogxbox HDD ready game packs total 1.6TB. I think it woud be much faster using Sata To USB Adapter (USB 3.0)and Xplorer360. has anyone tried to do this?
  3. I know you can use the USB as a memory card, and that's how you install softmods, but can you use it for anything else? Can you store games on it? I'm sure you could, maybe I just haven't thought much about it.
  4. Hello everyone. I have a question. Can i use only F partition on a 67 Bios? I am asking this because i am using ind-5004 bios and it was fine as far as i had F and G. Recently i decided to make just 1 F partition. I loaded xbpartitioner 1.1 and create a single 290 GB partition for F(it was 120 F and 170 G before) and after that i started loading stuff in it. The problem is that after the free space went to 32-35 GB(dont remember excactly)no new files would be writen on the F partition. The other partitions would get files normally. If i delete something on the F,then it would accept files again until it reaches the free space limit.... Am i doing anything wrong or is the bios supposed to work only with G too?
  5. So I used HDM v1.9 and created a new xbox hard drive (40GB) that works. However, I don't see the extra space when I turn it on - it isn't softmodded yet. I'm just wondering if I should put the hard drive back in the PC and create a F Folder using HDM. Will the F folder naturally partition the rest of the available space on the drive or will the ROCKY 5 softmod make all the extra available space in the E drive? Any advice greatly appreciated.
  6. As always, the finished product goes first. The system is a XChip modded xbox running XBMC. Has 4,000 games backedup on it (Coinops-NES, Atari 2600, N64, PS1, Arcade games and everything inbetween. Including some PC game ports as well as backed up Xbox games with custom maps and features). But, there's a twist. It can use original, unmodified NES controllers. And full SNES controllers with a simple SNES>NES adapter (Fun fact, they have the same contacts, just different plugs). This is designed to be a very long lasting Xbox. It runs under 100 degrees Fahrenheit and everything is plug n play so if I need to change the motherboard or PSU out its as easy as Legos. And as always, the unit is designed to be used by strangers at large events when its not sitting in front of my own TV, so its built quite rugged. For the case I went to eBay and simply searched "aluminum enclosure" until I found something I liked. When it arrived, it looked something like below. Then I used a drill press to slowly and methodically drill out the holes I wanted, then I filed them down. Luckily I no longer have to do this method for my consoles as I found someone who can reliably mill my holes out for me. While this method worked, its missing that final 5% that really makes you go "wow". For the NES ports, I used a microcontroller to imitate the OG xbox controller and let me use unmodified NES controllers instead. To switch between the NES and Xbox controllers, you just have to push the button next to the controller port, its that simple. I have adapters to allow me to use SNES controllers as well. Luckily its just a physical difference for the plug, like having a USB-mini to USB micro adapter. While I like the duke controller, I can now use more simple controllers for games that dont required joysticks. While its tempting to have my new contact professionally remake a front bezel for me to really polish it off, I would rather that money go toward a new project.
  7. As the title says, I have an Xbox with an incredibly annoying buzz/hum problem. The buzz comes from the speakers of the TV, not the Xbox itself. And only occurs when using the component cables. When using composite cables, the audio is perfectly fine. Haven't tried SCART as I do not have the cable. I'm pretty sure this issue wasn't an issue just a few months ago. I've tried using different power cables, different power sockets (in case of grounding issue)... I think SOMETIMES it depends on what game is being played whether the buzz appears. My Xbox is softmodded, with the only physical mod being a new SATA HDD using an HDD to SATA adapter. Is this a possible cause? The only other thing I can see are three capacitors that LOOK like they are bulging, but no leaking yet. The three caps in question are right below the CPU heatsink, labelled C3E2, C2E5 and C1E1.. I've attached a photo to show the caps. The photo isn't mine, I found it on Google images but it's identical to mine., Are these caps related to audio, or are they related to something else like power? So the question is... does anyone out there have any ideas as to the cause of a buzzing noise with component cables that probably wasn't there a few months ago?
