So i booted my old Xbox OG and it boots with AV and startup logo and gives me error 07. You also hear the HDD clicking and assume that the HDD has given up. I searched a couple of topic's how to get a new HDD working and i am not sure how to do it with the Aladdin modchip. So the Aladdin boots in 2 states (short power btn press) green logo normal boot and (long power btn press) Aladdin boot red logo. I read that installing a new HDD requires EEPROM that is needed for the new HDD to be able to recognizable for the Xbox. Retrieving could be done with a RaspBerry Pi, that i have. Not sure if the Aladdin modchip makes it easier to retrieve the EEPROM, also saw that some people boot HeXen is that maybe a possibility? Don't really need the normal boot, the Aladdin boot would be enough as long it can start the games and maybe FTP file transfer. If someone could point me in a direction which option might be best i can search how to do it. Sorry for my noob question.

https://imgur.com/a/dtmjN9V U-ATA CRC Error 200 concerns me the most, can someone explain these numbers to me? i am pretty green in this ;d 20% of games have issues like freeze at loading screen, for example i have to restart xbox while playing Farcry Instincts because it freezes during loading next level, i have to load next level from downloaded save file, beside that games runs fine,no crashes during gameplay. But games like Halif Life 2 or Morrowind never had issues with loading maps/levels which is interesting.

let me start out by saying recently ive been wanting an OG Xbox to mod. last friday at work(im a trash man) a resident was throwing one out. took it home and the inside out looks like it was hardly used. i got all the parts to mod except i'm still waiting on the game. I had bought it but amazon or whoever the seller was sent me the ps2 version when clearly the picture said xbox. anyway, i did some research on replacing the HDD. I know i would need the SATA to IDE. do i plug that into the board? i was thinking at least 1 or 2tb drive. which one is known to work in an og xbox so i'm not buying the wrong one? Thanks in advance

Hey guys, my softmodded 1.6 box with a SATA adapter in it is taking a while to boot up and I'm wondering if the drive is on its way out. I'd like to be able to clone the drive to a SATA SSD I have lying around but every drive cloning tutorial I see out there involves hotswapping an IDE drive. How would I accomplish this?

I've heard that you can replace the 5 1500 uf caps on a 1.0 and 1.1 with 3 3300 uf caps anywhere. I have been trying to fix a 3 boot fragging 1.1 with bad caps. I replaced it with the three capacitors and it still frags. When trying a modchip sometimes it fragged and sometimes it became a coma console (green light no video). Do you think this fragging is caused by the capacitors being the three 3300 uf caps? Does it still need to be the 5 1500 uf caps?

My family absolutely adores our original xbox. It was modded back in the day with an Xecuter v2.6 chip with is connected to the debug pins, and a few other misc spots. I didn't get to the clock chip in time, and corrosion ate through the tiny edge traces under the board. I've tried repairing it, but it's beyond me... once it warms up, it goes crazy on/off eject/close... I have another 1.0 motherboard and figured I could use that as a replacement, then cross the HDD Key when I got there. So I followed the pinout of the original motherboard and replicated its connections, installed the new motherboard in the original's case and sure enough, Code 6... So I softmodded the new mobo with its original HDD with the Rocky setup and null'd the hard drive. I swapped the HDD back to my original and still no good... I've read that hard-modded xboxes are capable of working better with non-locking HDDs, so I'm hoping there's something I can do to get this new motherboard communicating with my original hard drive. I really would like to keep the content that we have on there. Is there any hope? Thanks in advance!

I have Xbox moded with Aladdin XT Plus2 (I bought it moded few years ago). ODD started failing a while back (had much trouble to recognize disc and even if it did, it had trouble reading it to rip it to HDD). I eventually ignored it and started to upload games through FTP. But recently HDD started failing, it does clicking noise at startup, sometimes it doesn't start and displays error page "service required...", if it eventually starts then sometimes it works ok and sometimes it crashes during operation with HDD making those clicking noise. So, i opened my Xbox, connected HDD to one of my PC I use for older games (Core 2 Duo, WinXP, ATA connector on motherboard) and it started ok, it was seen in device manager, but disk management didn't see it. I googled around and it seems drives are ATA locked on Xbox and that is why I didn't see any partitions. So I run SMART Extended test using smartmontools and it didn't detect any errors, also SMART attributes didn't show anything unusual (I'm familiar with this since I do computer repairs). So I googled some more and it seems I could just insert another ATA HDD to Xbox and use recovery disc to prepare HDD. I had some spare Samsung 40GB so I inserted it in Xbox and I have disc labeled as "XBOX Master Installer v2 (recovery)" but I couldn't get it to work because ODD have trouble reading it. So I'm really in a pickle. Is there some alternative way to do this without replacing ODD?

Hello, I picked up a modded 1.0 Xbox and I find the amount of system noise to be more than I want to tolerate. One mod that I heard mentioned was that the gpu heat sink and fan can be replaced with a passive solution that uses a ‘IGP’ heatsink. I can’t find good details on this. Does the OGXbox community have experience with this that can be shared? If this is a viable solution, can someone point me to a tutorial or provide details?

Hi, I'm new on modding OG Xbox 1.0 and after a few days reading over the net I found this thread https://www.ogxbox.com/forums/index.php?/topic/1474-identify-mod-chip/ I think it's similar to mine The problem that I have is that my HDD dies a week ago showing error 07, then I found an IDE Segate ST3802110A (80 GB), check compatibility here https://xboxdrives.x-pec.com/?p=list, from an old PC and I have also burn a DVD -R with HeXEn 2018 that I found in this forum, but when I turn on with a long press it does't read the disc and only get the error 16. I never before saw the mod chip dashboard because when I get the Xbox in 2002 they told me the mod chip only works to read non original games if I long press the power button until the led becomes red, so I don't know which version of mod chip or bios I have thats why I can't replace my HDD. After I can replace my HDD i would like to update my modchip bios and install a newest dashboard for making mi Xbox to a emulator media and take advantage of this 80 GB HDD. Thanks for your help

i have a new bottom shell that i'm going to transfer the guts of another xbox to. i would really like to take the date label off the old shell and put it on the new one(versus writing all the number on a piece of masking tape). is there any way to do this without destroying the label?

i hard modded a 1.4. i have replaced the clock cap. i still have some stuff to finish up on it and i was wondering if there was any reason to replace the 3300uf and 1500uf caps on it? the xbox seems to work fine so, if i did change them, would there be any benefit?

Hello everyone. I've asked this question on FB, but would like to verify with this crowd here. I have softmodded an v1.6 using Rocky5 most recent version. I would like to swap to a 2TB SATA drive. I understand this can be done with a hot swap, cloning the original drive with chimp and then formatting with xb partitioner. Is this correct? Why does this work if the bios is supposed to need LBA-48 to see a large drive? Is it because each partition is small enough to not need LBA-48? Thanks in advance.
