Project Gotham Racing is by far one of the best racing games on the original Xbox, at least in my opinion. I was recently talking to someone on YouTube, and the idea came to mind of how the game could be reverse engineered to make it playable on PC natively. As some of you may know, PGR 1 still has several rendering issues on emulators to this day, especially on CXBX Reloaded (with several serious texture and sound bugs) and Xemu (where the game runs but there are several Z-order issues [which generally cause problems with structures becoming invisible from certain angles, making us see things we shouldn't] and the game tends to suffer from abysmal power and sound issues where cars sound louder than usual) which are the main emulators for the original Xbox. And although backwards compatibility exists, it (Project Gotham Racing) is non-existent on latest-generation Xbox consoles (Xbox One, Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S), and on Xbox 360 it tends to suffer from the same performance issues and FPS drops. This would be one of the main reasons why it would be interesting for me to reverse engineer the first PGR in order to port it to PC and make it natively playable on that platform. The second reason for my interest in reverse engineering the game, is the lack of interest I see in PGR games prior to PGR 2 or PGR 3. Because when talking about the franchise, often times the first Project Gotham Racing, and sometimes its spiritual predecessor, Metropolis Street Racer on the Dreamcast, are never mentioned or are not of interest to many people. So my reasons are: - Lack of interest in general for the first Project Gotham Racing game - Being backed by terrible performance and functionality on emulators and backwards compatibility Now, to that people: I'm not at all, in any way, shape or form, asking for a native PC port of the game or anything like that, I'm simply making this post to get your thoughts on a native PC port of the first PGR, and also learn a bit more about original Xbox game reverse engineering.

Hi! I've had this xbox since childhood, my dad bought it modded 20 years ago and he then upgraded the hdd and dvd drive. Now i have no idea on what modchip this is, i'd like to start fresh with this xbox, remove all the ancient media player stuff my dad put on it, and just play games. If someone knows what this is i'd really appreciate it. My idea was to remove this modchip and softmod it, upgrade the bios, and the hdd. The issue is that I dont know if it's possible to just remove this thing. Will it still boot? Even with the custom hdd? If possible i'd also consider keeping it, if i can upgrade bios and hdd. I'll follow the easiest route. Thank you in advance, all the help is appreciated! Othern images l: https://postimg.cc/gallery/GGqWxLR

Well... figured I'd show my "collection". First post will be my current 5 OG Xboxes, in order. From left to right: V1.1, X2 Lite w/ Cerbios 2.3.2 UDMA5, 160GB WD1600AAJB V1.6, X-Changer 2.2 w/ Cerbios 2.3.2 UDMA5, 200GB Maxtor 6B200R0 V1.4, genuine Aladdin XT Plus2 (Chip ID BF52) w/ Cerbios 2.3.2 UDMA5, 160GB Samsung SP1654N, recapped V1.6, ModXo on Raspberry Pi Pico USB-C w/ Cerbios 2.3.2 UDMA5, 1TB WD Caviar Green. V1.4 Crystal, ST TSOP w/ iND-BIOS 5004.67, 250GB WD Blue BONUS: Zephyr Elite 360 w/ 320GB Samsung HDD, Aurora dash and EXT_CLK over Coolrunner rev C1. - all running XBMC - Aladdin 1.4 and Pico 1.6 have had their cases painted - 1.4 is white/blue, and 1.6 is white/green. - 1.4 now sports Panasonic all over it, except PSU which has original caps. - 1.6 awaits a Startech adapter - I have a "narrow type" JM20330 adapter there for the time being. - all use a single selfmade HD Component pack, from a Xbox 360 cable, of course - the Crystal was an interesting story of going thru a gypsy ghetto to purchase it Up next might be 360s. I have a lot of those to go thru so be sittin' tight!

I have the Origins package on my 2TB drive, which is locked to the console and I cannot get the MS Dash to load. The system freezes. Questions: Can you confirm that the MS Dash is actually included? If not, where do I put it? I have read the stories of people tampering with the menu or structure and having things "blow up". I appreciate any help or suggestions. Thanks.

I was looking through an old page on https://xbmcxbox.blogspot.com regarding a full list of emulators for the OG Xbox, it's an outdated list but one of the emulators mentioned is Final Burn 1.1 which apparently can play several games at full 60fps speed that no other emulator can do (Turbo Outrun, Power Drift, etc). Unfortuntely no download link is provided and I cannot seem to find this emulator or any subsequent releases anywhere to download, all I can find are links to 'Final Burn Legends' and 'Final Burn Consoles'. Does anyone know where I can get hold of this emulator?

For some reason while trying to flash a new bios to my TSOP I got a message saying 'programming failed', and now I get no picture when my console boots and the LED flashed red and green. So i'm thinking it's bricked. I was wondering if I installed a mod chip would this then save the console? I've seen an 'Aladdin XT+4032 X2 Plus' on eBay and the installation seems very simple for these chips.

Im picking up a mint mountain dew xbox with box and paperwork. It looks perfect no scratches. Im wondering what the opinions are on opening it up to change at least the clock cap. Possibly replacing all of them. I hate to remove the labels on the bottom to get to the screws. Is there a way to do it without damaging them? The console has never been opened and from what I understand rarely played.
