  1. I recently modded twelve consoles for a gaming bar. All of them are using Xenium chips, Cerbios, and have XBMC4Gamers dashboards. The owner of the bar was complaining that the consoles will shut off after a few hours of being idle. Basically he's got them on any given game screen just idle non-stop until somebody plays them. They're not overheating since they have new paste and nexus silent fans with the fans set at 75% at all times. I was curious is there a setting to shut down the console after it's idle for a certain amount of time or something I can go and change for him?
  2. Hi everyone, I hope you're having a good summer so far! So I saw an ad for this v1.6 Xbox in my local Kijiji listings for $10 CAD (roughly 90 cents US...j/k). It was mangled, like it fell off a desk while the lid was off and the power rail caps were visibly leaking. I figured, what the heck, it's probably those caps - I'll replace them and hey, one more 'Box saved. So I bought it, cleaned it up, reshaped the frame and replaced the caps. Figured it would boot up right? Nope, absolutely nothing happened. I've been wracking my brain trying to figure out what the problem is...everything on the motherboard looks good and all connections are tight. The only other visible issue is a swelling cap on the power supply (see pics). I tried testing it with a multimeter and it's out of range, but I also noticed there is continuity across the power supply. I can literally touch any two points on the power supply and get continuity. Is the power supply the issue? Is there anything else I might have missed? I have two working consoles (a 1.1 and 1.2), but I don't think I could use the power supply from the 1.2 to power a 1.6, right? (Of note, I have the DVD drive, hdd and the remaining mobo screws, they're just not in the pictures.) Thanks all.
  3. As the title says. I have a console that sometime experiences a random power down. I have left the console running for ages on its own and the power down has not happened, then I have been just flicking around in PrometheOS or XBMC4Gamers for a few moments and the console has shut down. This console has been recapped and has no issues booting up at all. However the controller I have been using has a split in the cable right at the top where it joins the cable relief before going into the controller itself. Could this cause a short that causes the console to power down. I am running Cerbios which has a button combo to power down the console and wondered if it could this that is triggering. Pic of cable split for reference... If its not this what else could it be?? I'm stumped lol EDIT - So I have narrowed it down. Its nothing to do with the controller, it only seems to happen with in either the PrometheOS dash OR XBMC4Gamers. It can happen in seconds or it can happen after 15 mins, its totally random. As a test I left the console running with a game playing for 2 hours and no power down. Leaving it on either dash will eventually power down. I have checked and XBMC shutdown timer is OFF.

  5. For a 220V to 110V transformer, I'd like to know what kind of wattage rating I'd need. I know the Xbox PSU goes up to 127V 2.1A but do I actually need over 250 watts?
  6. Hello all i have a hard modded Xbox with 2 bios banks 1 = IND _Bios 2 = CerBIOs both have the trigger + trigger back & black reset combo to exit to dash but CerBIOs has the extra trigger + trigger back + D Pad up turn off function to shutdown quickly how can I add this function to my IND_Bios? it would be useful just to use the 2 combinations to safely shut down my unit I don’t really want to break my setup but I apologise if this question is futile with a simple Dash Loader app I know nothing about please can you instruct my next options
  7. I have a crystal xbox that has been running fine with a x3 chip, I believe its a 1.4 with a Focus video chip. I flashed the bios and set it up for a 2tb hard drive and all was fine. I have stripped the xbox down, cleaned everything, removed the heat sinks, cleaned and added new thermal paste. After rebuilding the xbox it fires up, 3x green blinks between power down then sits flashing red/green. It does the same if I have the x3 in or not. Have I damaged the board while handling? I have checked the chip soldering and D0, cleaned and re-flowed/re-soldered. But it still behaves the same. Any ideas/advice?
  8. I got a 1.6 Xbox off ebay today. Still works (minus the dvd drive, but I got several spare dvd drives), but the case is absolutely fucked in and out. After taking the controller ports out, I can't even put them back in - all but one of the posts for screws that hold the controller ports in are broken! I can only hold controller port 4 in with the intact post, all the other posts have big chunks broken off. Is there anything I could rig up to hold the rest of the controller ports down, or bolt it down, or should I just try to find an intact 1.6 case?
  9. Hi All My user name SS_Dave reflects the car I had at the time I was thinking of a nick name and my name. I have been doing basic repairs and mods to the original Xbox's since their release and at one stage I would get at least 1 or 2 Xbox’s a week to be modded and or upgraded HDD fitted in my spare room. I would get machine’s that owners had tried to mod to get going as a lot of other modders would not touch a already opened box and I would have a 95% success rate of getting it running again. I did get a lot of untouched boxes as well. I also used to keep some Hdd's in stock (In the beginning 120gig was the most common due to the cost) for upgrades as well the owner didn’t have to wait for a delivery from interstate computer parts suppliers. Dr Google lead me here while looking for Xbox info and I hope to be able to help others in their quest to get there original Xbox's up and running. Cheers SS_Dave
  10. Hi all. Been into this hobby for about 2 weeks now. Already have Ninja Massive and 500 xbox games up and running. Loving it so far.
