  1. It is till sounding like possible trace damage or it could be dry/cracked solder joints on the PSU, Can you post pic of the bottom of the power supply board and the main board top and bottom. If you use a pic sharing site ( I use Postimages.org ) and post the links you can then upload a high quality picture. I would replace the caps next to the heat sink with the Panasonic ones as they have a longer life.9000hrs at 105c ver 5000hr at 105c for the Rubycon There is no settle in time for the heatsink paste. Very unlikely to be a issue. Cheers SS Dave Soft modding is like masturbating, It gets the job done but it's nothing like the real thing.
  2. The 40gb HDD should work with a stock IDE cable, I wonder if there is something in the MBR (Master Boot Record)of the 40gb that's causing a problem. There is also a PC program that should make a HDD suitable for the Xbox I have not used it but it might work for you It's called xboxhdm23usb beta2 https://1fichier.com/?tev1c7k338upo9eu2e9m Or there is xboxhdm 2.3 beta4 https://1fichier.com/?rj6gcdrfwzdr5k4vmx9p Cheers SS Dave Soft modding is like masturbating, It gets the job done but it's nothing like the real thing.
  3. When the Xbox boots up is there a purple logo on the top left of the screen? Cheers SS Dave Soft modding is like masturbating, It gets the job done but it's nothing like the real thing.
  4. I would say it connected to the front panel So yes try holding the power button for 2 seconds or longer when powering on. Cheers SS Dave Soft modding is like masturbating, It gets the job done but it's nothing like the real thing.
  5. No damage to the HDD. I just had issues with booting and if it did boot it was slow to boot/load. Cheers SS Dave Soft modding is like masturbating, It gets the job done but it's nothing like the real thing.
  6. If the HDD you are planning on using is bigger than 120gb then you will need to update the bios as even the brand new Aladdin chips have a old bios file flashed in them. On the OGXbox installer disk there is live app section that you can use to flash the mod chip with. Have a look in the live app and if you get stuck come back and I can step you through it. 7. Once you have booted of the new chip you can then reflash the old chip with a hot swap. As far as I have read they are the same capacity the 49LF080 as used in the Xblast lite modchip is a 1meg chip. 8. You need to repair at the very minimum the trace closest to the edge as that one is the power button trace. If you test pin 18 of the IC below is should have 3.3 volt on the purple at all times unless you press the power button. The same with the blue (pin 5) but is the Eject button. You can add a link to join the 2 purple marks Cheers SS Dave Soft modding is like masturbating, It gets the job done but it's nothing like the real thing.
  9. Did you have the install DVD in the DVD drive then power off the Xbox and then power on again? Cheers SS Dave Soft modding is like masturbating, It gets the job done but it's nothing like the real thing.
  10. I am not familiar with "XBOX Mast3r Installer v2" do you have a link for downloading it? Are you using a 80 way IDE cable or the original IDE cable? It looks like the 500gb hard drive is not formatted correctly as in the 2nd pic it looks like you have 10gb free on F: drive and the other thing is have you updated the EvoxM8 bios file to handle a drive bigger than 137gb? Can you confirm the F Drive is formatted correctly I have not had a lot of success with that type of adaptor, The one's I use have the 2 capacitors like this Or get a Startech adaptor. 11. When you make DVD's for the Xbox it's best to use a brand name blank DVD-r and burn/write it as slow as the DVD burning software will go, I use Verbatim DVD-r and have not had any issues. If the DVD drive in that Xbox is not reading disks then you can use the DVD drive from your version 1.0 Cheers SS Dave Soft modding is like masturbating, It gets the job done but it's nothing like the real thing.
  12. You could buy a Aladdin mod chip for that then you have another mod chip for the next Xbox. Cheers SS Dave Soft modding is like masturbating, It gets the job done but it's nothing like the real thing
  13. That works it's just as easy to link the BT to Pin 2. Cheers SS Dave Soft modding is like masturbating, It gets the job done but it's nothing like the real thing.
  14. Yes the voltages are fine and the caps look ok, it also looks like the clock cap has been replaced as well. When I tested the PC DVD drive I left the yellow power lead connected to the Xbox DVD and just swapped the IDE cable you will also need a 4 pin molex power splitter cable to power the PC DVD drive. Once you have everything connected load the install disk and power cycle the Xbox to load from the DVD. You really only need the DVD drive to setup the new HDD and then you can FTP any game backup's to the new HDD. And as you are not fitting a HDD bigger than 137gb the BIOS file that's in the modchip will be fine. 15. It's hard to tell the type of chip as quite a few have a red light but any way as the Xbox is a version 1.6 you really only need to update the bios to the newer EvoxM8 file then give the insides a clean, fit a bigger hard drive install a dash-board and fill it up with games. You should also check the capacitors next to the heat sink for signs of bulging and if there is an sign of damage replace them. On the 1.6 xboxs I get here that's about all I do with them. You could fit a different mod chip with a LCD, 3tb (2.2tb Useable) HDD, Internal HDMI out, Internal OGX360 for using wireless controllers but that's up to you and how much you want to spend. 16. You have a couple of options As the Xbox has a modchip you could use a PC ide DVD drive inplace of the Xbox DVD then load a Installer disk (OGXbox Installer V1.5.3 from here https://1fichier.com/dir/mX1kipIz) to setup the new HDD Or you could use Fatxplorer Beta 3 to format and copy the required files to the new HDD on your PC. When you make any disk for the Xbox always set the write speed as slow as the burner will go and use a good quality blank DVD-r. Before you start with replacing the HDD check the red and yellow wires at the 4 pin HDD power plug you should have 12 volt on the yellow and 5 volt on the red. You may have a PSU that's needs fixing or replacing, Also have a look at the caps next to the CPU heat sink for any sign of bulging. 17. The red arrow is pointing to the clock cap and inside the yellow box is the corrosive contents of the clock cap. Also when you are cleaning the board be careful of the wire that is coming from the D0 point on the modchip to the main board as it is easy to dislodge it. The other thing I would do is remove the wire that is going to the BT (Black/White arrow) and link the BT on the modchip like the purple line. Doing this will make the chip always active/on and the only reason for not having the chip active/off was for Xbox Live so you didn't get banned. 18. I hope you plan on removing the leaking clock cap . Also the board need a bath or the least a vacuum. Cheers SS Dave Soft modding is like masturbating, It gets the job done but it's nothing like the real thing.
  19. What sort of Sata to IDE adaptor and what make and model of HDD are you tring? Cheers SS Dave Soft modding is like masturbating, It gets the job done but it's nothing like the real thing.
  20. Will the install disk load with the old HDD? Cheers SS Dave Soft modding is like masturbating, It gets the job done but it's nothing like the real thing.
  21. Make sure you have "Use Saved Partition Table = Enabled" under disk tools in the config of X3 chip You need to format 6 and 7 with a smaller size 1st, set 6 and 7 to 1gb or 2gb smaller than maximum and format then power cycle the xbox and load Xbpartitioner and then set to maximum. On some 3tb hdd drives try setting 900gb for 6, 7 then format reboot then 2gb smaller than maximum format reboot and lastly set to 1019.27gb then format and reboot then it should be all good. Cheers SS Dave Soft modding is like masturbating, It gets the job done but it's nothing like the real thing.
  22. I think you will find any will work, On one PC I have ImgBurn and Nero on the other I have Express burn. The main thing is write the disk as slow as the burner will go. Cheers SS Dave Soft modding is like masturbating, It gets the job done but it's nothing like the real thing.
  23. It also looks like the person that fitted the chip either had problems or thinks it's a version 1.5 by adding the 2 extra links 1 for ground (pin 2) and 1 for power (pin 9) Cheers SS Dave Soft modding is like masturbating, It gets the job done but it's nothing like the real thing.
  24. Lets drag up a 4 year old topic. Cheers SS Dave Soft modding is like masturbating, It gets the job done but it's nothing like the real thing.
  25. The DVD drive is having problems reading the disk. You could try clean the laser lens with some Isopropyl on a Q-tip and check the tracks the laser moves on are not covered in dust and dirt.
