What dash is the Xbox loading to? You will also need a cat5 or cat6 network cable. Cheers SS Dave Soft modding is like masturbating, It gets the job done but it's nothing like the real thing.

FTP is sending the files from you computer via a cat5 and you home network so no cd/dvd needed. Cheers SS Dave Soft modding is like masturbating, It gets the job done but it's nothing like the real thing.

You could try it but I have found only a small number of Xbox DVD drive that will read a DVD-rw disk Cheers SS Dave Soft modding is like masturbating, It gets the job done but it's nothing like the real thing.

Is the Xbox still booting? If it is you could FTP Xblast to the Xbox Cheers SS Dave Soft modding is like masturbating, It gets the job done but it's nothing like the real thing.
  5. With out looking at the main board I would think the capacitors next to the heat sink have failed. If you upload a pic or 2 of the insides to one of the share sites and then add a link here that will help. Cheers SS Dave Soft modding is like masturbating, It gets the job done but it's nothing like the real thing.
  6. From my understanding the horizontal and vertical synchronisation signals run a different frequencies for each output, The VGA has separate sync signals and at a higher frequency. Cheers SS Dave Soft modding is like masturbating, It gets the job done but it's nothing like the real thing.
  7. Sound like he may be grounding the wrong wire/point. On all my mod chip installs I ground the BT on the modchip the same as I posted before and on the 1.6 boards I cut the lframe trace the same that's been done in your Xbox. The mod chip in the pic you posted it is not connected to the front panel. I would still be interested in seeing if the installer has linked the BT to ground. 8. It's funny the exact same question was asked on redit. Cheers SS Dave Soft modding is like masturbating, It gets the job done but it's nothing like the real thing.
  9. The mod chip is installed the same way I would have fitted it. If you unplug the modchip there should be a link on the chip from the BT tab to Pin 2 . Like this If not add a link as this will make sure the chip is always active. Cheers SS Dave Soft modding is like masturbating, It gets the job done but it's nothing like the real thing.
  10. Sounds like it. I use a ATX supply for testing 1.0 - 1.4 boards with out any issues, There is three main differences 1st is the Power on signal is inverted, The ATX supply power on signal is ground to turn on the supply and the Xbox is 3.3 to turn it on. 2nd The ATX has 5 volt stand by and the Xbox need 3.3 volt for the 1.0-1.4 versions 3rd The Xbox power supply needs the PowOK (3.3 volt) from the mother board to enable the PSU and the ATX the PWR_OK is a 5 volt output to run a standby LED and should not be connected to the Xbox PowOK pin/wire. The Xbox will work when using a ATX supply without the PowOK pin/wire connected and connecting it will damage the Xbox. You could take that chip from a damaged board but unless you name is Louis Rossman or have the use of his work bench it's not a chip that most people can change. So I would say it's dead. 11. On a 1.4 here I got 59c with a probe held in the centre of the chip for 1 minute after the Xbox was idling for 25 minutes. It is hot to touch but i can keep my finger on the chip without discomfort. Cheers SS Dave Soft modding is like masturbating, It gets the job done but it's nothing like the real thing.
  12. 2.8 volt on the blue is Ok as it's job it to tell the power supply to turn on and off and as you have all the other voltages is has doing it's job correctly. Cheers SS Dave Soft modding is like masturbating, It gets the job done but it's nothing like the real thing.
  13. What version Xbox? Cheers SS Dave Soft modding is like masturbating, It gets the job done but it's nothing like the real thing.
  14. Was that reading with the chip or without the chip connected. Cheers SS Dave Soft modding is like masturbating, It gets the job done but it's nothing like the real thing.
  15. How often would you be testing the HDD speed and health ? In my view it seems like a lot of work for some thing that you might do once a year. Cheers SS Dave Soft modding is like masturbating, It gets the job done but it's nothing like the real thing.
  16. The short answer is NO as the Xbox can not output both modes at the same time and if you switch modes while the Xbox is running it will do a reset to enable the new mode. In VGA mode the component video signal will not get displayed due to the sync signal not with in range. You are better off using the MakeMHz digital HDMI kit or the Xbox2hdmi adaptor and split that signal. 17. No you don't have to solder it you can loosen the screw and put the bare wire under it. It would be best to post a pic 1st so you can be sure of moving the correct wire. Cheers SS Dave Soft modding is like masturbating, It gets the job done but it's nothing like the real thing.
  18. It might help if you add your location. Cheers SS Dave Soft modding is like masturbating, It gets the job done but it's nothing like the real thing.
  19. Can you test the voltages at the 20 pin power connector You should have close to the readings below Cheers SS Dave Soft modding is like masturbating, It gets the job done but it's nothing like the real thing.
  20. Sounds like the mod-chip is not wired to be always active There will be a wire coming from the the front panel that is connected to the mod-chip terminal marked BT, If you remove it from the front panel and connect to ground (one of the main board screws is ok) that should fix your problem. If you are not sure post a pic of the insides of the Xbox. Cheers SS Dave Soft modding is like masturbating, It gets the job done but it's nothing like the real thing.
  21. Yes. I get my caps from either DigiKey, Mouser, Element14. I would avoid eBay as a lot of the capacitors on there are a low grade component. Cheers SS Dave Soft modding is like masturbating, It gets the job done but it's nothing like the real thing.
  22. That board needs a few of the caps replacing The caps circled in red need replacing the one in yellow should also be replaced while you are at it and lastly the blue circle is the clock cap and it should be removed Can you carefully unplug the mod chip and post a pic of the other side. Cheers SS Dave Soft modding is like masturbating, It gets the job done but it's nothing like the real thing.
  23. Yes and some of the universal remotes work. I had a Logitech one that worked. Cheers SS Dave Soft modding is like masturbating, It gets the job done but it's nothing like the real thing.
  24. I would also try booting the Xbox with the chip unplugged and no hard drive or DVD drive connected and see if you get the animation on the tv screen. Once you get the green flubber on the screen then you can then reconnect the modchip and you may need to try different switch combinations to get some of visual indication on the screen the new bios has loaded. Cheers SS Dave Soft modding is like masturbating, It gets the job done but it's nothing like the real thing.
  25. The mod chip is not the problem with that Xbox so swapping the mod chip for a Open Xenium is not going to help Once you have replaced the caps the Xbox should start working. Cheers SS Dave Soft modding is like masturbating, It gets the job done but it's nothing like the real thing.
