Are you getting any sound? What happens with the drives ( DVD and HDD ) disconnected? With Cerbios what happens if you power on with the eject button ( Safe Mode )? Cheers SS Dave Soft modding is like masturbating, It gets the job done but it's nothing like the real thing.

A solid green led with no display is normally a soft modded hard drive. Have you tried to load a install DVD. What BIOS are you putting on the chip? Cheers SS Dave Soft modding is like masturbating, It gets the job done but it's nothing like the real thing.

You can even use Endgame that boots to Xblast then flash the bios via FTP, No special game needed all you need is two links on the board.. Too simple.. I have been flashing Xbox boards since version 1.1 was released and all with out soft modding the Xbox 1st. The 1st re-flash I did was trick the Xbox with a game save to load Linux then Telnet to the Xbox and pray it worked as there was nothing on the Xbox screen and the only give away was the LED when orange as it was flashing then the Xbox shut down Sure fit a mod chip but unless your into testing different bios files then there is no benefit and if your going to test different bios files then a chip that has different banks is needed. Any thing is possible but the 1.6 needs a 5 volt standby power and the 1.0-1.4 only has a 3.3 volt standby supply, It would be easier to convert a ATX computer supply. You would be better off getting another power supply from eBay or the like. The fault may not be the power supply but without a oscilloscope to monitor the 5 and 12 volt output's from the supply it's easier to try a replacement supply. I am thinking that PSU has been modded from 110v to 220v as I have seen reports that by replacing the main filter cap from a 350v to 400v was all that's needed The numbers on the 1st transformer ( Red box ) are different to the 220v one I have here.. I have also had a 1.6 PSU that had that transformer fail, I would work when cold then as it warmed up the supply would stop working. Reviving My Old Xbox (V1.0) – Fragging Issues and Error Screen

Not good. It's fixable if you have the experience and it may only be a couple of tracks, You need to test each trace with a ohms meter and see how many are cut. Cheers SS Dave Soft modding is like masturbating, It gets the job done but it's nothing like the real thing -
Reviving My Old Xbox (V1.0) – Fragging Issues and Error Screen

All the links are for is to enable the writing to the BIOS chip later. My money is on the tray load belt under the front of the DVD tray is loose. When your testing are you connecting the small board that connects to the control ports? Cheers SS Dave Soft modding is like masturbating, It gets the job done but it's nothing like the real thing -
Why not just flash the onboard bios chip? Cheers SS Dave Soft modding is like masturbating, It gets the job done but it's nothing like the real thing.

Yes you can have the stock dash as an application, The only need for the stock dash is setting up the modern day Xbox Live and the memory card manager Cheers SS Dave Soft modding is like masturbating, It gets the job done but it's nothing like the real thing.

Reviving My Old Xbox (V1.0) – Fragging Issues and Error Screen
SS_Dave replied to Emptyworks's topic in Repair
A stock Xbox needs both drives attached as it looks at the DVD drive for a game disk to boot then looks at the Hard Drive to load the MS dash. It's fragging because there is nothing to load, It is probably flashing one of the patterns below. While the MB is out I would add the 2 links needed to re-flash the BIOS chip. Tweaking the laser is something I am highly against as it's a short term fix at best and I would only say do it if your trying to Soft-mod the Xbox in order to re-flash the onboard BIOS chip. But there is easier ways to re-flash the BIOS chip (TSOP) that don't need you to soft-mod at all By adjusting the pots on the side of the laser it's making the laser work harder and that shortens it's life. Adjusting the laser power has nothing to do with the laser not moving now it sounds like you have something jamming the laser pickup. As you say you have nothing to test the resistors I think this repair is beyond your capabilities. Your best to find a working DVD drive if you really need one, But as you can have 99% of the Xbox games on a 2tb hard drive you don't really need a DVD. That because the BT wire is connected to the power button. Way Back when the Xbox was new and Xbox Live was running when you logged into Xbox Live it would check to make sure your Xbox was stock and if it detected it has a modded BIOS the serial number was added to a Black list and the only way to get back online was a new Xbox. Hence the option of booting from the stock BIOS. As the official Xbox Live is long gone there is no need to boot the stock BIOS anymore. It shouldn't change anything aside from being able to have the hdd unlocked right? Correct! Have you tried DriveSetup = 2 ; Drive Setup ; 0 = HDD & DVD, 1 = HDD & No DVD (Legacy Mode), 2 = HDD & No DVD (Modern Mode), 3 = Dual HDD ; I have tried this with both 1 and 2, no difference made DriveSetup = 2 0 = looks for DVD on boot 1st ( stock ) 1 = looks at HDD on boot but expects to see a DVD drive 2 = boots from HDD and doesn't care if DVD drive is not there You could also try telling the MB the DVD tray is closed like this Cheers SS Dave Soft modding is like masturbating, It gets the job done but it's nothing like the real thing.

Yes. It may work at UDMA5 with some HDD's but not all. It's been a long time since I have used EvoX dash There may already be a folder on the hard drive called "bios" have a look the file explorer. Correct.. In my view the EvoM8 is still a good bios but the Cerbios is better mainly for the faster UDMA speeds and is easily customizable by editing the cerbios.ini file. For the builds I do things like hard drives above 2tb is one of the main thigs the other is DVD disable. Yes. The purpose of the BT wire is to tell the modchip which button ( Power or Eject ) you have pressed. I Have seen some of these devices fail, I would 1st try the protection device without it connected to the Xbox and then test it on another appliance like a small radio, TV or the like if it still does the same then toss it in the trash. It was more for when the Xbox was in standby and left unattended. If it was me I would just plug a normal 2 pin cord in and see what happens. You should be able to use the bios flash program that's included with the Evox dash. You can select the UDMA 5 in the configuration file (cerbios.ini ) that you copy to C drive and I suggest you edit that file 1st and the copy it to the Xbox before you flash the bios. The other thing I would do is remove the wire that's attached to BT on the modchip and then link the BT on the Mod chip to the GND point, This makes the mod chip always active ( The way it's wired now was so you didn't get kicked off Xbox Live ) and this way you don't need have a locked HDD. C E F X Y Z partitions on it C is the boot partition E is the game save partition and this is where the new dashboard is often stored as well F is the bulk storage partition X,Y,Z are cache partitions If you have any more questions just ask Cheers SS Dave Soft modding is like masturbating, It gets the job done but it's nothing like the real thing.

Can you still FTP to the Xbox? Cheers SS Dave Soft modding is like masturbating, It gets the job done but it's nothing like the real thing.

I have tried that in the past and I found it easier to go to https://github.com/Rocky5/XBMC4Gamers and download the pre-built version then FTP the new files over the old files on the Xbox. The run the updater in XBMC again. Cheers SS Dave Soft modding is like masturbating, It gets the job done but it's nothing like the real thing.

Yes your HDD is dying. without the HDD working the Xbox cannot load a DVD. If you have a backup of you HDD key then you could use Fatxplorer Beta to make a new HDD. In my view fit a modchip or if the Xbox is a 1.0-1.4 then re-flash the onboard bios chip and ditch the soft mod, then make a new HDD on your PC using. Fatxplorer Once you go hard-mod you will never go back to a soft-mod... Cheers SS Dave Soft modding is like masturbating, It gets the job done but it's nothing like the real thing.

Hi All.. I have setup a torrent of the complete file download section from the long gone www.eurasia.nu. It contains not only Xbox but pretty much all consoles from around that time There is 93 X 1 gig zip files and the total is around 91 gigabyte, You will need to be patient as my upload speed is not that crash, I live is a 1st world country with 3rd rate internet. If that's the case you can just plug it in and it should work Cheers SS Dave Soft modding is like masturbating, It gets the job done but it's nothing like the real thing.

The main reason I suggest cerbios is it supports a faster data transfer speed from the HDD to the motherboard I assume the 500gb is from a softmod Xbox. You can fit that but you need to be able to make the Xbox look for the new dash not the original dash. The easy way would be fit the drive and boot a install disk to remove the softmod. I am guessing the 500gb is a PATA (40 pin ) drive if it's a 7200rpm drive you could also change the 40 wire IDE cable to a 80wire and set a faster BUS speed Have a read of this thread https://www.ogxbox.com/forums/index.php?/topic/6706-cerbios-new-xbox-bios/ I will send a link to the Xenium user manual shortly as well. https://www.dropbox.com/scl/fo/10oqyc7wqv6qnkjez7nvc/AE_vIZs5iN6IcsVMsjR2-Eo?rlkey=py4laaam6uued8qr4m1tntmtl&st=tdudufsi&dl=0 I have a 1.0 with the small heat sink and I swapped the fan to a new one and I can't hear it. I also don't recommend removing the CPU heat sink to change the paste, If you clean the stock fan and give the CPU heat sink a clean with a brush the temps are just as low as when you change the paste. I clean the GPU paste off with WaxnGrease remover (it used to clean metal before spray painting) Do you know what bios files are on the chip?
