Maybe it is your ram upgrade. Have you by any chance attempted to flash a bios that doesn't see the extra ram and trying it again. Maybe something is being addressed in a specific chip that isn't working properly. I'm not sure if this suggestion would work but might be worth a shot. Have you used delimiter on the games you are trying? If so, maybe try a game that hasn't been delimited.

I have a working one with that revision that I'm not using. I'm in Canada though so not sure what it would cost to ship to you. You can have it if you'd be willing to pay shipping on it though. If you want to PM me your address I can see if I can get an estimate.

Usually if you flip the short cables around, it will be a tight fit but it will work. The only option for the cerbios.ini file you will need to set is "DriveSetup = 0". Jumper the adapter to master but if that doesn't work try cable select. It may result in error 13 and if so it's likely not going to work properly.

Any chance you'd tried booting a game backup or installer disc without the chip just to see if the tsop flash you tried actually took. Maybe it worked and it's just failing to load the dash because it's also softmodded. At least with an installer disc if it does indeed boot it should have an option in the menu to restore the drive contents to stock.
-
It will. Since it's just a softmod it only modifies the files on the HDD so restoring the stock files and partitions will bring it back to a working state. If the eeprom is retrieved technically he could also use the old ndure 3.0 softmod method and just build the hdd already softmodded with FatXplorer. I've done this so I could get multiple xboxes to a state where I could flash the tsop without a game save exploit and then rebuilt the HDD's again without the softmod to work with the tsop. It's a bit of work but it does indeed work if all else fails.

Have you tried booting from the other flash bank? Could be that the bank you're attempting to boot from is empty and resulting in the frag. The 2.3b has a 1mb flash memory which lets you use either 1, 1mb bios, or 2 x 512k bios's.

Your cable may be faulty. I had this issue with a faulty cable and was rectified with a new 80 wire IDE cable.
-
Sweet. I'm back to work now so haven't been around here to post much. The brighter side is, I can now start to afford more things to tinker with.
-
Sounds like a Sharp. Run wire leads from the top tsop point and connect them once the console boots. Then flash with gentoox. Alternatively follow this guide. Once it's flashed you can leave the wires connected or properly bridge the point and it will work normally.

Cerbios will only show up as an option when formatting or creating a new xbox hdd. As for using cerbios on a softmod I'm not too sure as I don't have any experience using it that way. If all of your zipped games are each in their own folder within the zip archive you can select multiple zip files at once and extract them to a single folder from the right click context menu. This doesn't really save time but saves you from extracting each one individually.
-
Your best option then might be to backup your c, e, and f drives. Then use fatxplorer to recreate the drive using the option for Cerbios. In doing so you can point it to the locations where you saved the files from each drive during the backup and it will copy the files back for you. Essentially create an xbox hdd backup folder. In this folder create C, E, F folders and copy the files from each partition in to these folders. Then when recreating the drive you can point to these specific folders for each partition and Fatxplorer will put the files back into their proper folders on the newly created hdd.

As long as you have the proper eeprom.bin file backed up to relock the drive, I'm pretty sure it is possible to unlock the drive with the xbox using config magic. Just be careful not to change any settings and just unlock the drive. This should allow you to use it on pc and then use fatxplorer to relock the drive when you're done.
-
Since it's softmodded already use ftp to dump your eeprom.bin and unlock the drive with it. If you don't have the eeprom.bin already on the drive use one of the many tools for softmods to dump it to the hdd and use ftp to get it on your pc. After that no more hotswapping required. Evox dash has the ability to backup your eeprom.bin to the hdd. Just remember to relock the drive before putting it back in the xbox. If it's not accepting the password you are typing in, tell fatxplorer where your eeprom with the load from eeprom option just unlock it with that. It will store the password for future use.

Consider it a lesson learned. I also learned this the hard way and haven't had an issue since replacing mine with a startech adapter.

Using a heat gun like that may have knocked some components out of their positions on either side of the motherboard especially if there is no air flow/speed control. 600F isn't a bad temp as it's 315C but if there is no air flow control and a large nozzle it is very likely to dislodge some adjacent resistors and/or capacitors. Some of the smaller ones are really hard to notice they are missing or out of place. I managed to do this with a small tip and a rework station when I was removing a chip from a failed upgrade but was able to put them back in place and have the xbox still work. Also check for bridging on any of the surrounding resistors as when the xbox wouldn't boot after replacing the components that I knocked off, it turned out to be a bridge on one of the resistors close to the ram chips location.

Why does the HD AV pack usually cost so much?
Fringle replied to SoftMachine's topic in General Xbox Discussion
I bought a pair of those and while they work they aren't the greatest. The wii2hdmi soldered directly to the motherboard gives a better quality picture in my experience. I've also in the past made a modded 360 cable that provided a better picture then the cheap ones do. -
Ah, you maybe right but I would think if that was the case the system wouldn't display the cerbios logo before it freezes and frags. I think it would just go straight to a frag upon pressing the power button. At least that's what the system I removed the ram from does. Before I removed the ram it would boot but since it had bulging caps I didn't want to fix I decided to use it for the ram upgrade practice and as a donor board for other parts if needed.

I don't think they have been reversed but I could also be wrong on that. Might not be that hard but since they are really cheap I'm not sure if there would be a reason to other than to redesign the layout for other applications. It's possible your eeprom got corrupted. I've read somewhere on here that a red/orange frag can be a corrupted eeprom but could also be other problems as well. If you have a backup you could attempt to restore it with a programmer to see if it works.

Error 6 is because the xbox cannot unlock the hdd. Error 7 is basically it unlocked the drive but can't access it for some reason. Since you changed the key to all 1's the stock hdd can't be unlocked since it still locked with the old key. It sounds like your eeprom could be corrupted which if so, will need to be restored from the backup you made before changing the key or the problem is related to the IDE bus somewhere and that's why it cannot access the drive after unlocking it and returns error 7. I honestly doubt a modchip install would fix this.

That's a lot of Ram. I'm sure it will be put to good use though. I'm also assuming it was a bad chip but since the console still works it's not a big deal. Can always leave this one at 64mb. I'm sure it's better than the PS2 version. Gonna wait till I get get a couple more Wii2hdmi's to install in these since I like the versatility of being able to use either component or hdmi. I really don't find their quality that bad and they're cheap. Recently used one to make an hdmi adapter for my 360 since the hana is dead and felt that it was a strong possibility I'd kill the console if I tried to replace it, the quality is just as good as the internal hdmi.

Download the XblastOS 0.56 pack. Rename crcwell.bin to bios.bin and put in the bios folder on the c drive. If you have a hynix tsop flash it with Evox or the xbe version of xblast os. You'll want to copy the evox folder or xblast folder to your hdd to do the flashing without a disc. You'll not want to leave xblast flashed to your tsop though once you're done and you can flash it back to what ever bios you're now using xblast via hdd or network if you are unable to transfer the bios to the hdd after flashing xblast. https://bitbucket.org/psyko_chewbacca/lpcmod_os/downloads/XBlast_OS_v0.56.zip

This one was strange. It would still boot but wouldn't pass the ram test. I did use a ram chip with a missing leg but after checking the schematic it was an nc leg so figured I could get away with using it. Turns out I was wrong but may have also been dead from removing it with hot air. Ah well, lesson learned and won't bother attempting to use ram from another console again. I may have to give Half Life X a try. Played the original quite a bit on PC when it was released back in 98 on my old Pentium 166 with an original 3dfx voodoo. The loading screens were abundant but didn't stop me from playing the shit out of it.
