Finally got this POS to flash. It was nothing I was doing wrong the entire time. It was the damn switch. Once I figured out the little trick, it took maybe 5-6 times and a very sore fingertip. Nevertheless, it has accepted M8plus and now I just need to get a dash back on there and all that good stuff. Sorry for the headache and thanks tremendously for the support. I bet you guys were thinking I'm an idiot and not performing the instructed tasks.

I was about to suggest that you just solder/jump the switch, since it started to seem like that was the cause of your issue. In fact, maybe you should wire a different switch on, if that's even possible, just to avoid future PITA situations. Way to stay at it and get it done, dude.

My answer " I play Tomb Raider 1,2 & 3 using the OpenLara version for XBox". Damn, sometimes a little b1tch right? :D

    Edit :

    Tomb Raider 1 (OpenLara).rar 227.65 MB https://1fichier.com/?qefvj4znruframna8xuy
    Tomb Raider 2 (OpenLara).rar 170.20 MB https://1fichier.com/?cpfbc3xzfvf75920rch4
    Tomb Raider 3 (OpenLara).rar 304.81 MB https://1fichier.com/?5nsisf0sau7qa4887i41

Well, that's pretty tight. And i'm probably about to download the fuck out of that. But you totally missed the point, damn it. Lol..

I’m not here to get advice on the cheapest way to run psx games 😁. I was merely interested whether the XBOX could emulate them well and if you’d need to make some modifications. I have no intention to do this anyway, but I know that the xbox struggles with N64 emulation. And since this is the same gen as PSX I was wondering if it would be the same for PSX games as well.

Cheapest solution is to buy a PS2 phat anyway, they are roughly the same price and it can play both PSX and PS2 games without emulation 😉

The xbox can play most 2d psx games at full speed, but a lot of 3d games struggle. There are some emulator tricks to get things to playable levels, though. I think a cpu upgrade helps a lot. I think using a jailbroken ps3 for backwards compatability isn't a bad idea.

Sweet, he IS here for advice... Just not advice on the cheapest way to run PSX games. :) Running PSX games on an xbox is kinda cool. One of those things to do just for the sake of doing it. If I have a friend over, and I load up Tomb Raider on my xbox, and he goes, "how the fuck are you playing Tomb Raider on an xbox?", an interesting conversation will ensue. I get a kick out of that.

Using a modded xbox in 2022 isn't done for practicality, it's done for fun and nostalgia. :)

Definitely not in my plans at all. Just saying those sorts of things add up quickly. Just the Xbox collection alone is approaching 3TB or more depending on the type. I personally have no need for more than 2TB and that's pure luxury.

I would be impressed if somebody could fill that thing up... maybe I'll do just that and tell you guys how I did it. Lol.

It's not mounting Redump Dual-layer archival ISOs.  But, their extracted XDVDFS file system portion made into an XISO disc image.

I thought that might be the case... But why do it at all? That's a lot of work (extracting with mulleter and building with qwix) with no perceivable benefit.

Lol yes sir I did mean TB. I recently picked up a 4TB on sale and it was full not long after I opened it up. I have several full drives of tv shows, music, movies, etc. I'm sure you know about it.

I do not know about it. But i approve!

Thing is, a 1.4ghz xbox can barely play 720p with an ideal codec without dropping frames. So if you use it for playing videos, you probably will have a hard time filling it up with files it can actually play. 8tb is plenty.

What would you actually want to put on there 🤣? I don’t even own 8tb of data I think. Maybe if I add all my games for XBOX, PS3,4 and 5 I might come close… anyway nice that you can put 8TB in an XBOX.

Is there anything known already about the ISO support? Is it the standard iso or is it xiso? Would be great to just download the games directly from a well known location which stores a lot of internet data directly to the XBOX.

I guess i would put a LOT of hi-res music on it, a bunch of psx games... Anything else I can come up with. Although, my main machine has an x3, so i would probably want to use this for a secondary machine.

I don't understaod the appeal of the .iso mounting. I like having full access to my filesystem, especially for modified .xbes. The .isos are fucking huge compared to the actual files, assumedly because of a lot of dummy data. Also, isn't there the extra step of mounting the .iso? Can somebody explain the advantages of this?

Not sure yet, really just wanna do it to do it and ask around on facebook if anyone I know would be interested. I'm not really in it to make money, more just if I come across an abandoned xbox I'm going to fix it up, throw this image on it, and see if anyone is interested. Kind of why I want it to not have so much bloat. If someone wants all the xbox games and every emulator available they can look up how to do this themselves or buy from someone who puts a lot more work into modding lol. I'm literally just going to replace caps, chip it, and put this image on it. No external mods or anything. I might look into doing an HDMI mod, I know a lot of people don't want their best option to be a CRT or older flat screen.

I respect that. Modding for the sake of modding. "Because I can" commonly ends up being the reason for a LOT of the things I do.

Yeah you were a big part of my support bud, i really appreciate it. That's why the admins setup this awesome forum, for community support. @KaosEngineer I appreciate all your help through this post as well.

I tried to get the internal OGX360 but it is impossible to get. @N64 freak said " The internal OGX360 was my own design and i was the only one making them.
Only thing i can offer would be a normal external ogx360 in the 3D printed case."

The internal mod was GENIUS, it allowed you to either use the original xbox controllers, OR utilize the usb for 4 xbox 360 controllers with the microsoft reciever or an 8bit.

Now the only option is this opensource:

    http://www.openxenium.com/ogx360/OGX360I-4CH_Install_Guide.pdf

Now in order to get me some Xbox 360 controllers. I found someone selling an Xbox 360 PHAT Falcon V2, with its box, all original stuff, 4 controllers, 4 games, and all the cords for 20$!!! I couldn't pass it up. So now that i have it...... RGH1.2 Matrix and a 2tb Internal?? lmao, this damn rabbit hole doesn't stop.

Can't you solder those individual usb controller inputs for the arduino modules to the insides of the ports or their wires and then power it internally? Have a switch for the ogx power so you can switch it off to use hardwired controllers?

That's exactly right. In the peer to peer model like this, the kills are decided by the host.
Halo 2 was a client-side hit detection model. So while the clients still report back positioning to the server, the client decides if a hit took place and notifies the server of that.

See, THAT'S how I thought it was for CE/1. It makes sense to do it that way. Wonder why it's done in 2 but not 1? Maybe because it was designed with XBL in mind and latency was more of a concern, so it was implemented in the interest of optimization and fairness.

  11. 15 minutes ago, OGXbox Admin said:

the client xboxes have to send and receive updates to and from the xbox acting as a server. There is latency in both directions. The host xbox has no such thing. It doesn't need to wait on updates. It's current version of events is what the player on that xbox sees no matter the latency from the other xboxes. They never have any sort of lag at all while the other players do have some... even if it is small. It doesn't take much latency at all to give a HUGE advantage. That's why the host xbox wins more times than not.

Yeah i understand. I thought things like kills had to be negotiated with the client to some extent. But what you're saying is everything takes place on the host and that the client is more of a "remote terminal", for lack of a more appropriate term?

It's called Halo NHE or neutral host edition

The host xbox always has host advantage. People have done some videos to prove it. This make the host xbox an NPC and therefore nobody playing is hosting.

WOW! How have I not seen this yet!? I am a tool! My foot is in my mouth!

Host machine has the advantage? How?
