  1. I have some smaller IDE hdds(80GB+) that could get you back up and running without the need for sata adapter and 80 wire ide. I can load the proper files for your build if needed also. Just throwing that option out there
  2. Now, now. Let’s play nice. Both sides have expressed their opinions on the matter and the confusion has hopefully been cleared up. Some of us have been around here long enough to know subtle humor from insults and snark, when talking to each other so it’s not uncommon. However, I am inclined to agree that in text, it did come across a bit snippy. Not suggesting that you intended it to be that way. It seems to be a case of the old, ”Its not what you say, but how you say it”. We welcome all new members with open arms and expect to keep things civil. Let’s move on from this and focus on the task at hand which is getting Jerry’s problem figured out. Both of you take a timeout in the corner for 5 mins and hug it out.
  3. I’ve seen so much debate about this and the smaller side of “It’s not a concern” brings more valid arguments than the ones that will say it’s absolutely necessary.
  4. I would clean the clock cap area first thing. No telling what’s sitting in that mess.
  5. Gotcha. Then go ahead and run the test as you mentioned. Fortunately it's not a hard game to come by if you end up needing another.
  6. Just play the game for a few mins. That should tell you if it works or not. Is it scratched up?
  7. So you have a 1.6 revision. As sweetdarkdestiny has mentioned, you can either grab the eeprom with an eeprom reader or install a cheap mod chip. Both options can recover your system and possibly the hdd. A chip will allow you to install pretty much any hdd without the need to be locked.
  8. Wasn't insinuating he could flash without the hdd. Figured it was good to know which revision he has and go from there. Also why I didn't go into any detail at all.
  9. Can you post a detailed picture of your mother board? We need to identify which version you have in order to determine if you can flash the TSOP or need to install a chip. Both options require a bit of soldering tiny points. Just a heads up.
  10. What happens when you turn it on? It helps to know if it has already been modded or not. This will determine what the next step to take is. It is possible to fix this issue either way.
  11. Have you checked back over your trace repair to make sure there are no crosses/links?
  12. Are you 100% the daughter board has power plugged in and is also properly connected to the motherboard? There was another user just yesterday that overlooked plugging the daughter board back into the motherboard after repairing.
  13. It's pretty subjective and personal preference. The older xecuter Chips allowed for multiple bios to be stored on the same chip which enables you to boot into modded dash, ms dash, flashbios, xblast, etc. If you just want one bios, then any chip aside, from the newer Aladdins would work I believe. Unless you own an external flasher, in which case the alladin is just fine. That all being said, the older xecuters are expensive and getting harder to find. The open Xenium Chips are fairly new and open source so anyone can build them or order from a site, pre-built. Hope this helps a little at least.
  14. It's always a little embarrassing but a lot more satisfying when you notice it was something simple and all is well now. Glad you got it sorted.
  15. Well for starters, it’s not plugged in. Did you unplug it for reference?
  16. Having a chip in one and tsop flash in the other is basically the same thing. The chip is what allows the modded bios, which can be done on a 1.0-1.4 without the chip. 1.6 can't flash tsop so there's the need for the one chip.
  17. Sounds like bad downloads if that’s how you obtained the other games. Either that or you’re not using the correct file type for the download.
  18. My vote would be to install the chip in the 1.6 and just do a TSOP flash on the 1.0. You’re saving money and accomplishing the same goal in the end. SD card readers are neat and fun to say you’ve got one, but the price on the SD cards is stupid for anything worth your while. The adapter in the link above, says it only supports up to 32GB. If you’re trying to pimp out your Xbox on a budget, I wouldn’t go that route, but that’s just my personal opinion. if you’re just looking for a modest size HDD to store a few games, I have several larger IDE drives that would not require a SATA adapter or 80 wire cable. DM me if interested.
  19. I remember a topic months ago about which Aladdin chips were flash-able and which were not. I didn’t stick around to the end of that discussion and was wondering if there was any definitive answer on this. I have several that I’d love to flash, but more concerned it will just end up borking them. Edit: I do not have an external flasher
  20. Looks like it's time to either grab the eeprom from the MoBo or install a cheap Alladin chip.
  21. TW 05 will always be the best in my eyes. Played that disc to death
  22. You could always put it in a box externally, like the 360 started. You’d have to add some long wires connecting to the Mobo and the HDD, but seems fairly doable. Insulate the wires coming out of the back of the case to the PSU box and plug it in like normal. Downside is having a hard wired PSU.
  23. Watching dvds on a 20+ year old drive that's made for gaming, is just a bad idea. DVD players are a few bucks these days.
