Sepereti
I recently just softmodded my OG, and installed chimp as well as backed up the EEPROM to my USB. I noticed in settings it has a “HDD Key”, and I’m a bit confused. All I want to do is backup my HDD on my computer, so if I ever need to I can transfer all files to a new HDD air different system. That being said, what’s the next step in order to back up everything and run off my other Xbox should something go wrong?
ecstone
You can use an FTP program to copy the hard drive's files from the Xbox to your computer. That is the easiest way by far.
Sepereti
Just start an FTP and run FileZilla and transfer?

Sepereti
Do I need to null EEPROM or can I just load it onto a different HDD?
ecstone
You can just copy the files no problem. It's useful to null the hard drive key for upgrading the hard drive and as a safety precaution but it's not necessary for what you are doing. Sepereti
I was able to learn quite a bit recently about modding and various programs. I have FTP the EEPROM backup on my PC. I will be moving into swapping HDD to a 1TB soon, but that is a thread for a different topic. Thanks again @ecstone, I really appreciate the help. Forlorn Penguin
It's much better to completely null the HDD key so that eeprom backups are no longer needed.
