So I was looking back at some of my modding info I have saved from the net over the years. With regards of cpu and gpu coolers, we have all put larger fans on the stock coolers and 80mm fan mods. when dealing with a slim mod the way to go used to be one of the slim cpu coolers and fans that were touted around for pentium 3 cpus. These are getting scarce and when you do see one they seem to be a pricey for my linking. Anyone have any combos from more modern stuff that works in a similar way. P4 reference fans look the right size but obviously the clamp situation would need to be looked at.
*n00b post* I've just picked up an og Xbox recently as a present and I'm keen on modding it. From what I've read I have a 1.4 or 1.5 version (based on the Focus chip). I've found a few Aladdin XT-4032's on eBay, but wanted to get some opinions and hopefully some alternatives? I've found a list of compatible HDDs too, what's everyone's current spec/model?
Hi, New to OG Xbox, I have recently picked up 2 Xbox Crystal edition's (one clear and the other Crystal virgin) with board rev 1.6's (confirmed Xcalibur chip on one and the others manufacture date is later so must be also 1.6?) When I purchased these I was hoping to do a TSOP hack on them to be able to boot backup games from and upgraded HDD (already have all reinvent adapters etc). Now that I know I have rev 1.6 boards I know that the only option is a modchip or softmod. Is there a way to boot backup games from an upgraded HDD only using softmod or does this functionality require a TSOP or Modchip? If so is someone able to point me in the right direction for a total Xbox softmod noob. I have softmodded the console with UnleashedX via the SC hack with ease however a lot of information is outdated regarding dashboards and software and finding the most recent, supported software is proving to be some what challenging for me. Any assistance much appreciated
Sorry if this is a total noob question but I couldn't find any info when I searched, Looking through various HDMI mods and converter threads I see peoples video options on the MS dash having settings for 480p, 720p and 1080i but when I look in my video options they aren't there. I only have Screen size - Normal, Widescreen etc. and PAL 60 on/off. I assumed this was because I had to connect to my TV via a Scart cable as that's all I have on both my consoles. I've just received a Pound HD-Link cable and hooked it up but I still don't have these options available. I've looked on both my TSOP'd 1.3 and my currently stock 1.6 and neither of them seem to have these options. Changing the options in the system of the TSOP kit doesn't seem to make any difference either. Am I just being blind and missing something obvious;?
So I just scored a xenium chip, which came free with a broken Xbox. the seller just said it was broken, didn't even know the chip was in it. Its a 1.1/1.2 and the board looks like new. Turns out the old owner has never flashed the chip and was running the stock dash, but had some how managed to switch the chip switch so it was half on half off, so it wouldn't boot. well I fixed that and slapped a new drive in to take advantage of the set up tools. so now I have two dilemmas. 1. what's the best bios to drop on this chip, it's currently in the 1.1/1.2 board. 2. Should I just take it out and put it in one of my 1.6's which are near useless without being chipped. Because it's a waste in a board that can be so easily Tsop'd That said it has one of the teamxodus solder less LPC pads. Can you remove them ?. any ideas or feedback from you guys ?
