Hi to everyone. I have my original Xbox since when i was a kid and i remember of having it modified after some time. Some years ago i have removed the clock capacitor to preserve it, but recently i decided to change the hard drive and i discovered that i have several other bulged capacitors. For this reason, i want to recap the whole motherboard but then i discovered that the modchip is glued right under some of these leaking cap. From what i understand this is a very old modchip since it is soldered to a lot of points under the motherboard. What modchip could be ? It has also a switch to turn it off and booting strainght into the original dashboard. I was thinking of removing it to install a better modichip or to do a TSOP flashing. Do you think that i can remove it safely ? Before removing it, is it possible to use it to do a softmod or it is necessary to use a savegame exploit ? Otherwise what modichip could be a suitable choice ? I was interested in the OpenXenium project but these boards are pretty expensive here in Europe. The board should be a 1.4 revision since it has the Focus video chip. Thanks for all the Help.

I had to do some maintenance on my disk drive, but now my SSD is asking to format and the key is all bugged, is this a problem with my SSD (maybe fake), or does this happen every time you remove the cables IDE? (I'm using SSD on Xbox for the first time)

I have a modchip - currently unknown, I did it 10 years ago... Considering simplifying things and doing a tsop flash instead. So I know that the mod disables the onboard tsop (d0) so without enabling the chip, and disabling the mod, I cant access the tsop. But with the mod disabled, I cant boot unsigned, and therefore none of the flashing tools. So, am I correct is saying that once the mod is removed, I will need to soft mod, then flash? Is there another way? Switch on the d0 line maybe? boot to flasher, unplug mod (pin header install, and disconnect d0. is that even possible? Open to suggestions... Or.. I could just leave it alone...

I recently took my old xecuter 2 modded 1.4 xbox out of storage and have replaced the drive and removed the clock cap and its working great. The only issue is if i power off for a few mins and then power on I get a blank screen and it wont boot. If i disable the mod chip and go into the normal OS its looking to set the time(fair enough as i removed the cap). Once i set the time and enable the mod chip it boots fine. Is there a way to hard set the time so this doesn't always happen. My UnleashX front end gets the time from the internet correctly anyway. Any help or guidance appreciated guys.

Are here any repercussions to that? i did it to prevent leaking but i'd like to know if it needs replacing for some feature or if it was unnecesary.
