Hi, I’m modding a v1.0 Xbox with Splinter Cell
-
So, a couple of weeks ago I got my hands on an og xbox. I didn't know anything about the console itself and the og xboxes in general. I've had experience with different consoles, as well as modding them. I got the xbox for about 10 dollars, and it has an upgraded IDE drive which is 80GB and is loaded with heck ton of games and emulators. The modchip installed is aladin, I researched about it and I think I can only use the EvoX dashboard with it, correct me if I am wrong. Initially it had games on the F drive but the EvoX displayed only some programs located in the E drive. I installed unleashX opened it through the EvoX launch menu and it displayed the games in the F drive, but when I tried to play them they were stuck on a black screen not loading. However I managed to resolve the issue, changing the configuration file of the EvoX to display the F drive directory also and now everything launches. A guy on reddit told me that my board is V1.4 and also I removed the infamous clock capacitor. There is an option in EvoX which lets me boot to the original MS dashboard, but it gives me an error code. Someone told me that I had to put my original dashboard files in the C drive, but I don't want to tinker with it before asking here so I don't f*ck something up. I've attached a couple of pictures so you can get an idea what I have on my HDD. I would really appreciate some tips, I would really like to also install the MS dashboard, and possibly switching from EvoX to a more modern dashbord but I am not aware if this is possible with my current mod chip. NOTE: In the picture of the console opened the clock capacitor is still there, I removed it after the picture was taken!

I found an original xbox. I don't know much about it. It was opened, but I doubt that it was modded. I bought cables, which were lacking. I tried to connect it to my flat panel tv via a composite to HDMI converter. I can see the blue screen on the HDMI channel, and I can see it switch from 720 to 1080p, so I am convinced that is working. I never see anything from the XBOX though. All I get is a flashing green light. I don't have any idea of what's wrong or how to go about fixing it. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Hey everyone! Picked up an OG Xbox recently, and while researching what all can be done with it, discovered this site. I've softmodded it already (Rocky5), and this weekend should be hotswapping in a larger hard drive (and snipping out the clock capacitor). Really cool to see this community is still active! I have a bunch of other modded consoles and handhelds, and I've learned a ton from their related communities. Looking forward to more of that here. See you in the threads!

Hi all. I'm looking at buying my first soldering kit from ebay and I'm looking for protips from experienced modders What are the necessary things I need with my soldering tool? I'm definitely considering buying a magnifying glass and possibly a stand as well. What is the right type of solder and flux I should want to use with my hardware? I plan to start with making USB adapters and repairing frayed controller cords but I want to gain the ability to do things such as repair dead traces and install chips. I understand the meticulous nature of this activity and that's why I'm asking for some guidance first before I jump in feet first like I normally would. Thanks! - Jake

Hello guys. I'm a huge OG Xbox/PS2/Gamecube fan and have a nice emulation setup with my original Xbox. The 2000-2006 era holds the best memories for me gaming wise so I had to join. I hope to get to know everyone and maybe make some new friends.

For the past few weeks i've been looking into modding an xbox, and i've bought quite a good amount of stuff to prepare. I understand that there are like 15 ways to do somethings and it all depends on specifics ecct.. but I just have a few questions. For starters, I understand you have to soft mod your xbox before tsop mod, and you can change out your hdd either after the tsop mod or after softmodding, which way should I do? Also, I would like some emuls so which bios should i be looking into? All I want to do is to be able to boot a few games without putting them in the disk drive, and play some older games, on top of having a nice dash board and boot up screen. Among the things I've purchased, I also got a ghost case, and I would like to paint my jewel. anybody have advice on that? also, any good looking led mod kits? I've seen a couple, but if anyone has a link to a good treasure trove of either led strips or something to put under my jewel, I would appreciate it. Also, why do some people while installing the ghost case (clear case) not change out the disk reader cover to the transparent one? Haven't opened my xbox yet, since its the one from my childhood, I'm trying to save it, but if I can't find a cheap one to mod out, Ill be using what i suspect to be a 1.3.
