  1. I did it! It took me all day! It was quite the odissey! (I couldn't do your version junkman, too hard for this cable version) Now summarizing the story: No ONE in my country was selling the component cable for the 360, only cheap knock offs. So what I did was buying through Yapo, which is a type buy and sell site, were you mostly buy locally. And there I found ONE guy, just one, in the whole country, who had an original component cable for the 360. And just as my OG XBOX, I bought it blindly, with faith, believing he was not going to scam me, no warranties. You do this, when things are to niche and you simply cannot buy them on Ebay, etc. Here: It wasn't easy, because this was the version of the cable with the filter at the beginning of the cable. It makes it super hard to work, I had to even trim the OG Xbox "neck" plastic a little, so it could give me enough room to work. Also I don't know if it's the version of the componente cable, but the OG Xbox plastic case hardly slide through, this compnent cable is very thick. A lot of work, the good thing is that this component cable has the filter, I don't know but is supposed to be better in terms of protecting from noise, etc. If anyone has this component cable and wants to get some tips, let me know in a PM. It was a pain in the ass. Cheers to all And thank you Cian! and also thanks to Junkman!

  3. Thank you so much Junkman! Also, I imagine all the black shielded wires are ground right? And to bother you even more, what do you recommend using to open the 360 plastic case? A sharp knife I suppose? Well, I am a pain in the ass, but I had to ask, because I only have 1 cable to work with, if not, then I would learn on my own. Thank you very much Junkman, it means a lot to me this help
  4. Junkman, today I receive my 360 original component cable! It was the only one in existence in my country. May I ask you if you have a picture of your connector with everything soldered already? So I can have an idea where every wire goes? (or where do I start counting from 1 to 24). Or maybe it's in one of the pictures and I didn't see it. Thank so much Junkmann, you are the best
  5. Hi guys, Does anyone has any idea if a skin exist with cover support? I mean, but on a size specifically for CRT TV's? 4:3? The problem I am having is that most dashboards with cover support are made specifically for widescreen HD TV's, I am fine with that, but I use my Xbox exclusively on my Sony Wega CRT. It looks amazing because it has component inputs (I am about to build my component cable though). To me, this consoles are made to play on 4:3 on a good CRT, so ideally I would want a skin or a dashboard where I could see what I am doing! I don't think I am the only one! On a CRT Xbox4gamers looks tiny and is terrible to use. UnleashX is the perfect size for CRT's but I haven't found a skin that supports covers! Anyone knows of such a thing? Thank you guys, thank you all for your time and patience. Hector.
  6. Oh that's wonderful! Do you have a set of icons you can share? Don't mean to be lazy but you seem to have put a lot of work in this. If you don't mind sharing, I will be really glad! Thanks you for the feedback Anarchy
  7. Anarchy that's really wonderful! But I have a question (I dont want to flood the forum) do you guys know of an alternative to Xbox4gamers dashboard? The thing for me, I play on a CRT, and the fonts and all user interface in Xbox4gamers is super small and I can hardly read anything. Do you guys know of something more like UnleashX (in terms of size, Crt friendly) dashboard, that has cover support? Thanks and sorry for all the questions.
  8. I follow your advice. And I get it! You did not want to mess with the shielding! I understand. I will be doing this on Monday hopefully. Thank you very much for the help and the pictures.
  9. Thank you SS Dave. I am guessing at least 8c degrees higher most of the time. Then I have great temps! I replace the thermal paste also. Thanks again take care.
  10. So yes guys, that is my question. Does UnleashX give wrong temperature readings? My Xbox is 1.6 made in 2005. Here is the thing, I always get 51C degrees on idle and about 57 when playing games according to UnleashX. I don't think those are bad temps, but according to the INTERNET those are a bit high for the OG XBOX. So I tested another dashboard, this time XBMC4xbox and at the same time/day/moment when UnleashX was giving me 51C on idle, XBMC4xbox was giving me 40c on the CPU and 30C on the GPU. The lowest I have had just sitting there is 38C on CPU and 28C on GPU, now those temperatures look realistic! (I mean realistic for a computer when doing absolutely nothing). In average I've found that UnleashX is always reading 7 degrees higher and its minimum is always 45 (minimum in other dashboard is 38c), which again, is weird because sometimes is very cold in here. What do you guys think? What dashboard is giving the correct temps? My best regards!
  11. Well in those pictures you did it pretty good! You convinced me I will do that, sadly my component cable is getting here in about four days, because today here in my country is a holiday, not working day. So my seller will send tomorrow and then I will get it on monday. Crap. Is there any difference making these your way compared to Cyan way? Well, thank you guys for your time, take care.
  12. I cannot wait 2 months to get it, no matter how cheap it is! hahhhaaha But I will be using my composite Xbox cable, so no worries there. Cheers and take care Dave.
  13. You are probably right. Do you know if the 360 plastic case fits correctly though? Because I see the second picture in Junkmann77 post, but it doesn't seem to be a good fit with the Xbox. Well, I should ask "him" that. Thank you SS Dave for your Feedback.
  14. Junkman forgive my ignorance, but having digital audio out, in what way would benefit me? I mean I only play in 2007 CRT and I don't have a 5.1 surround system or anything like that, in fact I am completely ignorant about digital audio. Thank you junkman77 for sharing, my regards.
  15. You mean that I can use the external gray plastic housing and only replace the connector pins? Does it fit? Because the tutorial I saw you use the original composite black plastic housing together the with the internal pins of course. I hope you can understand my question. Thank you very much for those pictures! I just have one chance to do this right, so it very welcomed, thank you
  16. Yes I have the Xbox plug, which I will take from my original composite cable. Also what you are describing is more a digital signal, but it is different in my case because I am using a CRT with component inputs. Any noise or bad quality in the cable is perceivable right away! Sometimes LCD HD TV's can be forgiving and they simply won't transmit much noise whatsover, they work or they don't. But on a CRT that is never the case. I will not buy from that seller anymore in fact I bought this cable (picture he sent me through Whatsapp) : The only "not fake" component cable in my entire country!
  17. Exactly! Cheap component cables look better than composite on the PS2, they have some noise in the signal but apart from that they look good. Not with the Xbox it seems. And my reason from building my cable is mostly because I simply cannot find any cable good enough to buy, even if I had the money, it does not exist. Cheers and thanks for the feedback!
  18. This is really incredible, Modern Vintage Gamer said in one of his videos that you would be better off using the original Xbox composite cables than a cheap component. I am using the standard microsoft composite cables now, and it does look better! This had NEVER happened to me before with any console, no matter how bad the component cable is, it always looks better than the composite one. Not in this case. I cannot wait to have a "good" component for the Xbox, it must look amazing.
  19. I thought so as much, besides I cannot find any Microsoft logo in those shots, nor the shiny sticker or the Microsoft written word in the plastic. Thanks for sharing your thoughts!
  20. So yes, guys that is my question, please help me here. I am trying to buy an original component xbox 360 cable, to then build an Xbox component cable (using a tutorial from the forum). I live in south america and buying internationally is not an option (2 to 3 months of wait). Could this be an original 360 component cable? Don't laugh if is not, it looks kinda of in bad shape, but it has a similarity to my composite cables for the OG Xbox. It the ONLY one I have found in my entire country (seller SAYS it's original):
  21. OK, thanks prodigy, it doesn't yet matter though, because I have plenty of time waiting for my Sata to IDE adaptor to arrive. 2 months in average for any package to reach me here in south america I think by within a decade from now, I might just become the next Budda hahahhha LOTS of training in pacience, etc. Cheers to all and thank you all.
  22. He is quite handy porting emulators and working with code. He definetely loves the Xbox and hopefully he finds out about this forum, spread the word to him, he can be incredibly benefitial to the scene, specially now that some guys are trying to bring back Xbox live to the original Xbox. His help would be really great to have.
  23. "Does not ship to Chile" Besides, last time I ordered internationaly, I had to wait 2 months, I am not kidding, 2 months to get my package (actually 2 months and 10 days). In that time I could die or even have kids. It is ridiculous here and it's mostly customs, packages arrive quite quick, then it is in HERE where they sit for months. National post mail service in here is the most hated corp in my country. They dont steal, they are just lazy as hell. This is one of my last purchases: https://global.cainiao.com/detail.htm?mailNoList=12851103377000212749963001&spm=a3708.7860688.0.d01 And besides everything, when finally that package arrived to my city (small city), my mail guy (who I know) took 4 days to get me the package for no fucking reason, just because he is a lazy ass /&%$& the guy KNOWING that I had waited for 2 months couldn't deliver the package tha same day, that is too much to ask I guess. And I give him tips!
  24. It's what I have been reading just now! We have good timing Doing that mod seems to give you the best quality And I think I found ONE guy in my country selling the Xbox 360 original component cables, because that is still hard to find here, but at least possible. I have to cross my fingers not to get a chinese crappy knockoff cable though. Living in south america is always exciting! Cheers
  25. I would but I have a CRT TV, and getting a good picture out of a CRT is almost imposible. But why would I lie? It seems it is a problem with cheap component cables.
